I tried this on my 2013 Ariens but it didn't work for me, perhaps due to wear. I still had no reverse gears so I turned adjustment on rod in clockwise position raising knuckle about 3/4", then lifted arm to align with knuckle & reinserted pin. Got all my forward and reverse gears working properly! Hopefully this works for you but also check your forward speeds before calling it a done job.

Wow, I was avoiding fixing mine, thinking it would be more involved, but SNAP does this look easy! I want to fix it right now but my wife says it’s too late for me to go putter in the garage and make all that noise testing it.

Mine wouldn't go in reverse, so I raised that lever to the full reverse position, then made that adjustment, worked for me

Awesome! Now my Ariens is moving much faster. There was no difference in speed between gears 6-4 now I can tell the difference.

In my case, I had taken the wheels off to apply anti-seize lubricant, and in so doing, neglected to replace the "keys" in the groove of the axle which fit within the slot of the wheel's hub to turn them. The key, one for each wheel, is approx 3/4" long metal rectangular rod approximately 1/8" wide and perhaps 3/32" thick . Once replaced on both wheels, the wheels turned and forward and backward motion achieved. Hope this helps.

I get no “clunk” and that is the issue. Rinse and repeat, start engine, stop engine. Pull pin and adjust as video says… no “clunk” and it’s a new Ariens classic 24 purchased last year. Used it and worked great. This year I started it and tested it and drive worked for 5 minutes and stopped.

Sadly mine was already in the right place. I think it's a slipping friction disc or whatever it's called.

that was so easy compared to the older way.

Right now im hearing a hammer/ fast clicking when I put it in drive. I think I need a friction disc because there was rubber shaving in the bottom pan. I clean what the friction disc touches and made sure there is no metal on metal. I put it back together.
My problem is that when I put it in drive it wont move by itself, I have to give it a little push for it to start going.
    Help

My Ariens goes a little bit then stops and while it is moving it's making a hammering sound.

well, Ariens has been making snowblowers for something like 65 years, so, there's bound to be some variations. ;)
