I have this game and have played several times (with three players every time) and love it. Combat problems, buy more guns or a salvo of cheap $2 missiles to the face also works, so that if someone shoves a truck in your way blow it up for possible easy resources. As to the primary missions, there are several more different ones to be had in each faction deck that the player keeps private to themselves until completion solving the problem of people knowingly stealing resources out from under you (this can also be helped by getting a $2 escort token allowing you to basically teleport across the board). One of the players has taken to buying an empty extra trailer just so it can absorb up to 8 damage tokens without having to worry about placing them on cargo holds. The game itself already has solutions to most of your dislikes. Oh and we also love the Xia game, you go in knowing that it will usually be a by the seat of your pants turn almost every turn.

I was going to pull the trigger on getting it and thankfully someone I knew got it, so got to play it. Spot on description of game play, it seems to go on forever and combat is random.

I like Dominant Species quite a bit. I think the most common complaint are the events but the game gives you time to react to them so it's fine. The events are resolved last.
I'm super happy I found you because of Alex! He told us to say Blood Rage, sadly I never played that game except for a tutorial on the steam version. On the other hand a trip to the wasteland seems pretty uninteresting, nice review, I like how you shot it down! Not sure I want to win Alex' giveaway now!

Have to love deep interesting experience that do not sacrfice the theme like this does. Merging mechanism and theme, games like it seems this and Blood Rage are what I love most.
