There is absolutely no question that the 1948 Nakba consisted of mass slaughter of Palestinians and a forced migration of Palestinians out of Israel with the majority being forced into Gaza. Only apologists for a certain country created by the UN in 1947/48 would question the validity of the Nakba.

They "feel" they were forced from their homes, do they? It's much like a school history book (circa 1920s) of which I saw a page reproduction. It dealt with the Highland Clearances in a single sentence "The crofters decided to move to Canada". It then went on about "agricultural reform" at greater length. The word "evicted" did no occur, no mention of people being forced onto a leaky old tub which might or might not make it across the Atlantic on pain of being arrested if they continued to exist in Scotland. I shudder to think what that book said (if anything) about an Gorta Mór, the induced and needless famine in Ireland. But those were barbarous times, now we have the UN Declaration and on Human Rights and ..... the same old racist cruelty and slaughter. All that's changed is that we have now made up a word for - genocide. A word and declarations on paper haven't actually changed anything. When did you last hear anything of the plight of the surviving Rohingya people, precariously camped in Bangladesh, let alone the atrocities which killed and maimed so many of them? Ah, but the news cycle moves on, see.
I'm pretty sure everyone remembers this saying from high school math classes: "If you don't show your work your answers won't count." Apparently, the opposite is true here since every accusation the Israeli government & military has against Palestine is correct even if proven wrong.
"The tragedy of the people of Palestine is that their country was “given” by a foreign power to another people for the creation of a new state. The result was that many hundreds of thousands of innocent people were made permanently homeless. With every new conflict their numbers increased. How much longer is the world willing to endure this spectacle of wanton cruelty?" ~ Bertrand Russell
Their claim that this land was promised to them is debunked by their own book Genesis chap 25 verses 9&10 when Abraham died his sons Ishmael and Isaac buried him in the field of Ephron(Hebron)that he had bought from the son of Zohar the Hittite. So if God had promised Abraham the everlasting possession of Canaan (Palestine) why did Abraham had to buy a piece of land that he could be buried in from Zohar. I used to watch MSNBC every day, from 4-7 pm and sometimes at 10pm. I also watched Morning Joe. I haven't watched them since around the third week in October. One morning I made the mistake of watching Morning Joe and saw Donnie Deutsch making the most deplorable and racist comments about Palestinians...that was it for me.
I listen to Rachel Maddow / Alex Wagner during my daily work-out routine and they have a good reporting on the situation, I think. They've had Ayman Mohideen as a commentator quite often (he's even covered one or two shows when Alex was out). He was born in Egypt to an Egyptian father and a Palestinian mother, so he obviously speaks Arabic, he's also lived in Gaza for two years, all of which gives him a level of understanding of this particular situation that surpasses that of most other reporters on the network. I'm not watching Morning Joe anymore. I can't stand Joe Scarborough, he's so narcissistic. Sure, the show is called "Morning Joe" but that doesn't mean that he should be talking like 85% of the time. Don't think this is going to change, he just loves to hear his own voice too much.
@@jensraab2902 I like Rachel and used to watch her very often, but since she started doing only Monday nights I missed her quite often. I have to confess I haven't heard her perspective on this recent Israel/Palestine conflict, but I imagined it wouldn't be different from most on the network. Anyway, the stance both of them had on the Israel/Gaza conflict was like that from the very beginning. Ayman occasionally appeared on their respective shows also from the very beginning, i.e. long before MSNBC fired (?) Hasan. So, I don't see a causal connection here. I've actually been impressed by what I consider a fair and balanced* approach. I remember that only a few days after Hamas committed their atrocious attack on Israel, they had an Israeli person who was personally affected, and in the very same show, they also had someone from Gaza talking about the effects of the overreacting response of the IDF in Gaza. They have given the victims in the population on both sides a human face while not shying away to find very clear words both for Hamas as well as the current Israeli administration. I literally cannot even imagine a scenario in which this would merely be a feeling. In which an entire population "feels" like they were forced out of their homes, but it was not actually true. How would that even work?!? Would it all just be a big misunderstanding? What could possibly cause thousands of people to feel like they were forced to leave their homes and forced to move to a tiny piece of land, while this is not actually true? What could possibly cause this kind of mass delusion? It isn't just not debated, it's literally impossible for it to not have happened, there isn't a single conceivable scenario in which anything else might've happened.
@snapgab The only thing that could come close would be, for example, if a fascist occupying force occupied a territory for so long that they convinced the western world that they were the rightful owners. But then, to the surprise of everyone, the native resistance overcame the military force of the belligerent apartheid state and forced said colonists into "exile". Then, a similar delusion to what you described would likely befall the minds of crybullies today. My family was immigrated to the USA during the German occupation, facing torture or death by staying; that makes us refugee American citizens, me 3rd generation. As a refugee I have studied and understand the history of both Palestine and the Americas. I DO support a repatriation of Native lands, and new treaties (because we are all here now, regardless of circumstances). I feel this doesnt make me less American; it makes me more American. It also makes me empathetic to the Palestinians because my family came here around the same time that the Nakba was building (since 1924, under the Palestine Israel Colonization Association, or PICA, spearheaded by Edmund Rothschild). Today the same sort of cabal is in power in the United States, furthering Theodore Herzl's Zionist agenda. It is the perfect tool for empire.
A joke, "this is history is being debated." There's nothing being debated about this history. What happened has never been a mystery. The West and its media have helped the occupier muddy the waters from the start, for a variety of reasons, including guilt for how the Holocaust unfolded and a desire to have a Western ally in the oil-rich Middle East. As a consequence, Israel has free rein to tell its version of how everything went down and continue to do pretty much as it pleases with the land it was given by Britain, including dispelling the population that already lived there.

You Sayin its debated is disgusting
There is absolutely no question that the 1948 Nakba consisted of mass slaughter of Palestinians and a forced migration of Palestinians out of Israel with the majority being forced into Gaza. Only apologists for a certain country created by the UN in 1947/48 would question the validity of the Nakba.
I'm depressed, I've list my hope, evil seems to always win, American ignorance in most matters is staggering, they practically believe any propaganda they are fed.
USA support every single fascist dictatorship in Latin America. Homelander is a perfect representation of USA.
There is always hope. Keep fighting! At the end of the day we know we gave it our all. And the message is getting out!!!
There was no moment in history when so many people were actually pro Palestine. Loosing hope is what Israel and US want you to do. Don't let them.
It's the food they eat , too many big macs.
Settle down mate. 300 million Americans. You really think they all agree with each other and have the same opinion? Sounds like you're being fed some pretty tasty propaganda
It was given to Europeans not to the indigenous people from that area.

Same here re: MSNBC. Not at all anymore. So disappointed. But don't talk about who controls the media... you will be accused of being an arm of Hamas!
I'm happy to hear that MSNBC is giving Ayman latitude to talk about an issue that he's very knowledgeable about...they probably learned a valuable lesson after their debacle with Mehdi Hasan.
@@dianad1968 I don't know watch too many other MSNBC programs apart from this one slot. I download the program as mp3 and listen to it when working out or walking the dog. ;-)
Rachel is phenomenal. Alex is OK. I think, she sometimes editorializes too much, but her show is still worth listening given that Rachel isn't on.
They do what I appreciate a lot: _not_ equating the population with their government/regimes.

It's not a debate, Matt Bradley! Nobody willingly leaves their land!
Words are carefully chosen to manipulate the thoughts of people. In the case of the Palestinians, they are meant to dehumanize.

Israel State was never based on religion. When you read the full story, Zionism didn't sell as well, and then Herzl realised he needed a religious drawcard, and with that appraoch, Balfour gave them a portion of Palestine. Right from the start, they sent more people there than what they agreed to, they took as much land as they could in 1948- hence the name occupied Jerusalem, occupied West Bank- they occupied Palestinian land , they stole it, after killing 15 000 people and forcing 750 000 Palestinians into refugee camps. As a puertorican, it is truly terrifying how American with knowledge in geopolitics of this "conflict" only seem to care about people who "matter". I've never been to the US, so i had never experienced the discrimination many in the diaspora frequently cite. Wounded Knee, Residential Schools and Redlining happened very recently, and its still not just a bunch of Trumpist and Tory bad apples who would be ok with it today. Oh and wokewashing still happens when selling real estate to gringo settlers in Puerto Rico.
So if the Palestinians spend 40yrs wandering in the Sinai desert does that get them a turn as the chosen ones? They've been wandering for 75 years already.....

"Thank you for your hard-hitting journalism"
Oof
They "feel like" they were pushed out. As though that's just their perspective, and a matter of objective opinion.
Crybullies who currently cheer on the destruction of an ethic group more closely related to the ancient group they claim lineage from.

This is really amazing. Much love from Palestine
