- Thought I'd cover one of the classics! One of my favorite songs growing up so I thought I would have a whack at it with the camera on! Let me know what you think Frands and Fam!
Love, David

I just watched four other drum covers of this same song looking for the angst and grit that this song deserves and was met with boring rhythm and surgical, sterile precision. Then I finally came across yours and found exactly what I was looking for. The slow buildup of volume on the floor tom, the quick snare fills, and the quick kicks made this substantially better than all the other covers. Absolutely excellent work.
Love the build up on the snare fills! Great dynamics
Nice drumming as always David! Have you ever considered to upload covers of more "complex stuff", like some jazz/fusion? Would be cool to see and you've got the skills to do it ;)
Actually, what's the hardest "drummer" song?
I know for jazz cats they mention Giant Steps being a tough one.
Tony Lancer kind of depends on the players strengths/weaknesses. I always find the progressive metal/rock bands like Chon, Tesseract, Animals As Leaders etc to be the most difficult stuff to play but it’s different from player to player.
@@tonylancer7367 That's definitely not an easy one, but I don't think it's possible to determine one particular song as "the hardest".
David definitely has the chops but we have to remember that he’s not posting just for us. I think right now he might be building his portfolio, showing possible artists that he can keep it on lock while using chops when necessary. There are plenty of drummers with chops but no groove and I think David is trying to prove to possible employers that he can do both. I could be wrong though.
Akoni Kam oh no I’m not questioning his ability to play that stuff. There probably isn’t a piece out there that he couldn’t play, he’s a brilliant player. I can only wish that I was close to his playing ability.
This is awesome! One of my favorite songs! It’s a great cover!!
Man, that was excellent. Extremely smooth and zero panic. 😀
LOL
Sweet cover!!! My wife loves this song and shared.
This was perfect man! Not overplayed and great sound and feel
Dude, this rendition of this song is amazing!! I fuckin loved it from start to finish. Awesome.
That pattern during the verse always threw me through a loop. Nice playing!
Dude, this is great..love this song
Very Nice! What I enjoy about your playing is your rhythmic compositions you create take the song to a new level. I miss the days when every part of a song could melodically stand by itself so that somebody will find something in the song interesting. You have that ability.
Hi David, I'm new to your channel, really appreciated your our videos about onboard life, wow, talk about seat of the pants stuff. So impressed with your professional approach to doing drums to a wide variety of acts on a night by night basis.
Watching you drum just makes me want to throw in the rag. You are so amazing, keep up the amazing work!!!
David could tour with most pop bands right now. He better than a lot of the drummers, but when a band has been together for 10 years with the same members, they dont change members unless something goes tragically wrong. David's time will come.
New subscriber, love the work...someone below said it, its the rolls on the snare that are effortless. Been trying to figure out what I lack, yeah, I figured it out. Great work, looking forward to next posts
Love your drumming.... could you do a video on how you develop those real fast double stroke rolls you do on snare and the toms? Thanks
Practice
I do like the way these heads sound! I especially like the snare sound...it seems to go well with your style. I personally like a slight ring, so these heads seem perfect.
Amazing cover bro
Do a My Chemical Romance cover! Please
Oh yeah 🔥
Another great vid man! Appreciate all the gear and software info! One thing though, your forgot to mention what were the cymbals in that stack! Keep up the great content! 👍👍👍
Es buenísimooo
nice subtle change over to evans... congrats (;
Dam that was good
Uow! 💥🥁
hi man, would you recommend this drum kit of yours the best?
What size dark crash did you play on this? 19” or 20”?
Hey man, how do I get a snare sound like that? Ultra tight batter head? I have a 14"x6" bubinga with an evans dry genera and I'm not quite there...
Hi David you're great and you look better drumming with lips
What happened to the remo heads
You need china! Great cover!!
Gatsbys American Dream - theater should be your next cover!
I think “master video editor” can be added to drumming legend and chop god 👌🏻
Back when Panic at the Disco was actually good and had Talent
Me: sings song to song
Claire: can you stop that
Me: what that singing?
Claire: you call that singing?!
Me: *sadden intensifies*
Not a fan of those new skins, the head mute the snare drums tone too much for my liking.
Love seeing you play this song and then love seeing you play your church set. Hypocrite smh 🤦♂️
I think ur cymbals and hat are too loud they kind of overcome the song
Don't like these evans heads. so dead...
zolwikwkurwik his mix is probably to blame for most of that
