This is the video I was wanting to see before I buy , but I already bought the non extreme, since the z1 extreme is like $300 more on Amazon brand new, nice video
I have seen the Z1 Extreme for $400 lately. I’m not sure if it’s worth paying double the price for 4 more fps, a bigger battery, and a different color lol
It’s not. Most of time you play you gona be near a place you can charge. Coffee shop, train, plane, your car, unless you are playing on the street while walking you can always charge it. Plus when you are outside you don’t really planning to play for 2 hours right? Bus stop or On the bus just too risky now days
Not worth it for me. I mean, I could sacrifice a little and just buy LSFG for only £6.00 and get better stable FPS. Buy a powerbank to boost the longevity of gameplay. Sooner or later, FSR 3.1 will be implemented as well so.. I'll upgrade my ROG Ally as soon as they change the iGPU.
Kinda sad that ppl are telling you you need a portable charger or be near a wall outlet just so you can continue playing like that kinda defeats the purpose of it being portable. But eh like someone said, not like you’re going to be playing outside. You’re right, I’ll be in the living room, at a doctor’s appointment or at work playing and once the battery needs charging then plug and continue playing.
That’s what I was thinking about heavy. I got the Z1 extreme last year. Still a great device and don’t mind plugging up to a portable battery. Also diddnt know if it was worth it to upgrade.
@@Skulldude567 I own a Z1ex and there is no need to buy the x version because there is not much difference except for the RAM and battery but man just buy a portable charger and stick it to the back of the device , know that you look like you are carrying a bomb but in the end you will save your money
Thank you for that video, but I need a video with comparison between steam deck and rog ally z1, there are very few videos about such a comparison, and yet these consoles have similar performance
The frame rate is definitely more steady but a 4-6 fps boost isn’t anything special. The battery life being double is really nice but even still, you’ll be lucky to get 1.5 hours out of it. Great start for handhelds but they still have a ways to go.
@@LianCasablacks But if you already have a z1 Extreme that is only worth about $300 now... to spend $500 for a tiny boost that can probably be achieve through settings... Yeah I dont think so
Estou com a versão mais nova do cyberpunk, o rog z1 esta atualizado pra versao mais recente e nao consigo o mesmo fps. Com a mesma configuracao em cyberpunk consigo somente 17fps. Voce fez o que para rodar neste fps?
With RAM timing tweaking the regular Rog Ally Z1E can outperform even the Ally X. If you want more, faster ram and larger battery life then the ally is a decent choice. However, if you're debating if you should trade your Rog Ally in just to get it for an extra 4-6 fps and you don't care about battery life, its not worth it, honestly.
I’m so glad you have showed actual stats of the X! Hogwarts legacy looks playable, especially if dropped 900p? Did you run the VRAM for legacy at 8Gb? Any chance you’ve tried Battlefront 2 😅
Thank you for these honest benchmarks. To be honest I thought these results would be like this. ASUS requested most reviews to not discuss benchmarks or battery life so this was a red flag for me.
They did the same thing with the original though. I don’t think it’s for malicious intent. I think it’s because they need to make sure it’s working correctly and to make sure the performance is where it should be.
I don't see the point in buying the Asus Ally X - it's foolish (a difference of 2-5 percent). 42 FPS vs 35-38 - if I'm going to lock it at 30 FPS anyway.
The extra performance boost will be nice for games where it was not as easy to keep a stable 45 FPS for example, but I don't think anyone is buying the Ally X for more performance. Its key winning feature is the battery capacity, since it was the most common complain about the Ally. Sure that some people play it plugged in or only ever use it at home, but for most people the short battery lasting power was an annoyance. I have pre-ordered the X because I kept getting battery fears when using the Z1E 😅
If FPS is all that matters, then sure, but I'm thinking about the X because of the bigger battery, 2 USB-C posts, full size nvme drive (although this can be fixed on the previous Ally with a $5 adapter), slightly better sticks, hopefully fixed SD card reader... you know, all the quality of life improvements.
It's not aimed at upgraders, it's a late third option for newcomers. If you're switching anyways, you're not doing it for performance but for other QoL features
Wait for sales than. No one promised much better performance though, it was about improving other aspects of system like damn useless XG Mobile port or fried Micro SD slots or poor battery life.
The more ram isn't for normal games but games that are stuttering or lagging on normal ally turbo mode Like-frontiers of Pandora which suffers from huge lag on ally, legion go and stem deck crashes every time you try to run it. But I am expecting that it may run smoothly on Rog ally X due to more GPU and CPU Ram allocation.
The battery of the rog ally x has a large capacity, so the performance can be kept better when not plugged in, and the rog ally z1 consumes less electricity if played at 15w, probably ok.🎉
not sure about that, I believe Gamers Nexus tested and concluded that the base Z1 doesn't actually last any longer vs Z1E, in fact might be a bit shorter, and it also heats up more. Totally counterintuitive, but that was the claim.
Wrong, you need to see the 1% low fps numbers… which somewhere around 30% to 400% faster. That is how you experience the game runs smoother on Ally X in most scenarios. Plus, if you use Lossless Scaling for Frame Generation, you need to allocate extra vram. That is where the 24gb memory comes in handy

this is the only channel that compares from x to z1 non extreme, and tbh the non extreme is a good steamdeck alternative!
Especially if your main focus is indies or emulation. Best bang for the buck device currently.

It could be 3x bigger battery but you still need to charg it, im using in Semi truck z1 extreme and im fine while playin with charging
just get a power bank dude, and install window 10 on it to get more resources.

Thanks for the Test. I stay with my normal Ally Z1 Extreme which i had bought used dor 400€. If there will be an Ally 2 i could imagine to upgrade.
4-7 Fps boost is not bad but also not great .. if you still got the Z1 extream you should be good until ally 2🎉

Steam deck lcd or asus rog ally z1 standard? which one do I choose?
Thank you for sharing this comparison. Its really helpful.
Please do steam deck oled vs rog ally x 🙏
Also you have my subscription 😊
If Asus Rog Ally X use more VRAM for example 8Gb the FPS can level up.
Why would you benchmark this at 1080p high settings at 30W. Unless you want to “play” for 1 hour or less
How did you get Asus rog ally z1 extreme temperature below 70°C in every game??
How did you get Asus rog ally z1/ extreme gpu and cpu temperature below 70°C in every game??
Finally some benchmarks for ally X

4-6 fps boost would be the key difference between getting solid 40 fps and 35-40 suttering fps. So yeah

Think am gonna use the z1 rog ally docked and save £300 as was set to get a ally x but not sure if its worth it with these tests tbh
That non extreme chipset isn’t bad at all.
if only they did a non extreme version with 80Wh battery , a perfect emulation device and suitable for average gamers as well
This shocked me too
Nooooo it's bad because the price difference is not too big it's just 100$ for a good fps boost
@@guesmimedislam347 This 💯
@@yassen4iq489 MSRP, sure, but it's been more like $250 difference for months! Right now, the Z1 does for around $400, new, and Z1E is still $650
The lows are quite a fair bit better. But a RDNA4/5 based Z2/3 E performance jump is probably what most will be holding out for.

Why does vram usage dont go above 4G?
You can get a z1 extreme used for $350 vs the X which is almost $800. Answer is obvious to me.
where can you find such a deal?
where tf do u find a $350 z1 extreme used if not ebay lol
Shocker. I got my base ally for 250 used. Was thinking about upgrading but the price difference is not worth it imo
Ally z1 for 250 good deal vs regular steam deck 250?
imma stick with my basic z1 extreme ally maybe there will be a sale on the x for black Friday. $800 is a bit too much for a handheld.
Any idea what the sale might be

Anyone know where to buy asus rog ally x z1 Extreme?
Can you remake this with FSR 3.1 update & frame gen?
omg...why keep the allyx with 4 gb vram ??????
The X's performance gain over the Z1 EX is disappointing...
He also limited vram, so fps would have been bigger
Take into account that it is the same cpu
So a 5 fps difference and Double battery life for an extra 300 bucks
You clearly forget a huge list of new features
Also 8GB more ram an 512GB additional storage. But yah, I plan to find a used Z1 Extreme for half the price.
the framedrops look way better on the Ally X.
@WebMasterGG can you list them?
1 tb ,more ram with extra freqvence, double batteri(big improvement ...best) ,new color
just curious, you should allocate 8GB of the ram to VRAM. should see another nice lil boost.
only on the 24GB allyX
i am using asus rog ally z1 extreme. I'm not getting the same performance as you, why?
update

I don't like Asus, why didn't they design the RAM in a large size, like 24gb or 32 GB to got max performance the Z1 Extreme?
How do you manage to het 30W with this temp? When I use 30W normaly I get 80+
Probably docked with maxed out fans (loud as shit but works very well)
Itd probably all run better at 720l

See ally x vram bro, this man dont know how to set vram
La razon por la que la z1 xtreme da mas fps que la X es por que el peocesador esta limitado para el calentamiento
The vram can be lifted more up sense it now has a 24 ram
It weird he only use 3vram to compared instead of putting more vram to see if theirs a major difference
