Great video and I agree with what you said in regards to “an intro for those that don’t follow.” As a weekly watcher and follower, I heard years ago that WWE was making this years ago (2022), Vince even started it being made and that is shown by him saying “not sure how much I want to give you” and Jimmy Hart saying “idk how much they want you to have.”
I don't watch wrestling but most WWE fans hate him. Dude treated the wrestlers like trash, he got to because he didn't make them employees, they were independent contractors
Your insane. He is very much hated by all. If you defend him your a p.o.s. too. Actaully look into the history of WWE. He was never a revolutionary he was a p.o.s. from day 1. Broke his fathers deals stole talent. There has never been a defense for the p.o.s. he didnt make wrestling he raped it. @Professor-id4jh
WWE fans couldn't stop gargling his nuts til just a few years ago despite all the allegations piling up over the years. They'd bow down during his entrances, and he was only most recently disliked for his bad booking behind the scenes, and not the actual heinous shit he had done over the years. You'll hear them now openly criticizing Vince because he's finally no longer a part of WWE, but otherwise he had full impunity from fan backlash as long as he was part of the company.
@@Professor-id4jh he is a piece of trash so I and most fans hate him. Idc what he has done for wrestling. You saw the shows the last few years Vince was in charge? It was awful. He unintentionally tried to destroy his product because he was (still is) a narcissistic, out of touch, senile old man surrounded by ass kissers. Fans hated him way before the allegations for several good reasons.
My thing is how this documentary kinda proves that the Shane hate over the last few years by fans was on the wrong McMahon. Cause Vince and others admit on here that he never listened to Shane about anything. But now he listened enough to let Shane book the Rumble leading to his big "Roman/Brock 3"?
Shane has his flaws too. The guy literally had a power trip and booked him like a mega star. But when you raised as a mcmahon, you're fucked up in some way.
Shane wanted to buy ufc when it was in sale for only 75m and wanted a loan for 25 m from vince and vince rejected. Nxt being a online show was a concept shane wanted for ecw which Vince rejected .
@@wendynerd1199 We also know Vince is a freak towards women- he literally wanted a storyline where he impregnated her, and another where Shane would kiss her, which the siblings refused to do. Could be another component for why he favours Stephanie.
There was *one* redeeming moment the doc showed and it was in episode seven, when we see the backstage moment between Vince and Shane when they embrace and Vince tells him he loves him. Vince may be a monster, but even monsters have soft spots, rare though they may be.
Its not crazy at all (unless you're a casual fan). The vast majority of the documentary is just rehashing old stories that have been discussed a million times beforehand.

@@lightup6751because the doc was marketed as being a hit piece on Vince, not the WWF/E. It was called Mr McMahon, not The History of WWE. The promos showed clips of all the people they got for interviews and implied they were all gonna condemn Vince and share all the dirty secrets.
Thank you; this documentary was such a puff piece about the WWE with little footnotes about his bad stuff briefly. People acting like this was a hard hitting documentary was such BS and just Netflix hyping of the WWE before they join Netflix. Absolutely a joke.
Ehh I don't entirely agree with that premise. I think what the documentary did was let Vince ramble on, and show what a liar he is. Granted yeah, there were plenty of glorifications of the WWE and times where they just sort or brushed over a lot of the scandals, but it did a decent job of showing both why people love the company, but also why they've been so embroiled in controversy. For a regular layman, it did a decent job at sort of getting people curious enough to Google these things for themselves.
8:40 I think the funniest part of this from the doc was the whole Brett Hart thing. "I walked in, hands by my side and let him hit me" Clips show a crowd surrounding trying to seperate the two
Vince McMahon is a shit human, BUT he is a hell of a businessman. Do you not understand the timing and reason Vince made such a fuss over this documentary? He made a "Live Action Trailer," and it worked. Everyone flocks to watch the show to see Vince's secrets he is afraid everyone will learn. Good Business.
Vince took everything he did to new levels or depths of hell, depending on how you view it. I doubt anyone will ever top him or want to. I can not help but think Vince is a bit irritated that the Diddy headlines are overshadowing his story.
That's not his full quote, that's the documentary creators editing his statement. Austin's full statement was he doesn't believe in CTE being the only reason for Benoit killing his family.
@laverdadescatolica5 Exactly. Personally I agree with you. I think Nancy wanted to leave, and probably threatened to take Daniel away so Benoit would never see him again, and then Benoit snapped. I remember before my parents got divorced they would argue a lot, and my mum used to say stuff like that to my Dad all the time. It's not hard to imagine Nancy might have said something similar.
Damn. I’m surprised at the backlash. Like we didn’t know he wasn’t this far gone? Really? I don’t think anyone legitimately believed this was just a character he was playing. He was playing himself. And millions enjoyed it. And only hypocrites with super hindsight think this was somehow damaging. I watched the entire series twice. In one cut, the interviewees were asked what Vince’s legacy will be. They didn’t have an answer or it was just cut for dramatic effect (likely). Vince McMahon’s legacy is that of the wrestling industry. He is the embodiment of the entire industry. That is his legacy.

I thought this documentary was perfect. I went in with no preconceptions or expectations. Just a general & nostalgic interest in the topic of WWE. It did a great job of packaging and presenting an exploration of the origins and actions of both the man and the infamous "character." It did a good job of presenting the similarities and differences between the two, and giving the audience an appropriate amount of context to draw their own conclusions. It also served as a fantastic recap of the history of the WWF / WWE. I enjoyed it thoroughly.

As Charlie says here, this is just barely scratching the surface...
The most wild thing in there was them talking about Ashley Massaro's suicide and how Vince wrote storylines to make fun of her before she left WWE and they show the RAW footage where he mocks her crying on camera. Nothing if you saw it live, but when you realize they had ignored her report of the SA incident on a USO tour and them shoving it under the rug, that just makes that old footage incredibly dark.

Not sure. The business going national was inevitable. The territories were never going to survive the proliferation of cable TV. However, wrestling was very popular in the 70s and 80s, with the only difference being the lack of national media coverage, which would have almost certainly happened as the business grew. However, what might not have happened was the steroid trial, the death of kayfabe, and the resulting generations of wrestlers who have no idea how to do anything but flippy moves.

The documentary was to show how weird he was but also how much of a character he was, it was talking about how much of an asshole was
It wasn’t to expose him, it was to describe how interesting of a guy he was, they didn’t have time to truly go as in depth
I’m a longtime fan so I’m not shocked, I’m more shocked Vince opened up. The guys is very private
For me the most shocking things was the abuse he suffered, even the alleged Sexual abuse from his mother. Paul heyman opened up to the fact he was willing to make his son Shane kill him for him to invest in a business or opportunity
Paul heyman said how Vince said “do to me what I would’ve done my father if he didn’t follow how I wanted him to ” or something like that

And yeah, Vince opening up about anything is the most shocking thing of all. He's the most guarded man I've ever seen; he NEVER lets anyone see the human aspect of him.

Cute profile picture :D
No wwe fans hate him. Despite all of the stuff, wrestling wouldn't have been anywhere close to what it is today. He was the Godfather of wrestling.

I got the distinct impression that part of the reason Vince hates Shane is because he's not a yes-man like Stephanie is.
Not even worth a mention because it’s all performative. This guy is psychopathic.
