How do you survive a blizzard while living in your van? How do do you stay warm in a vanlife during winter? It is not uncommon to find blizzard conditions in the North Cascade Mountains of Washington. If you are living the van life, the winter season is the most crucial time of year when it comes to survival in your van. Survivng a blizzard becomes dependent how prepared you are for these circumstances.

This is so cool. I remember doing this in the forests of Alberta when I was 20. My family were loggers and we stayed for a month in the winter, in a camper, I'm 55 now and they now have movable trailers with big screen tvs. Not the same lol. Only drawback was smelling diesel fuel

Chris Farley saw this coming. And we all laughed at him when we should have been taking notes.
When I came home from military service due to injuries, my wife, combat K9 and I ended up living in an RV through a bitter Wisconsin winter.. the entire winter. A few lessons for anyone doing this:
1) During a blizzard, major snow storm or high wind event, make sure you constantly check your vehicle exhaust and/or furnace/heater exhaust if you have any intent on using them. If they get plugged you very will could die of suffocation.
2) If you have fresh air vents and rely on them because your rig is very well sealed, make sure you also keep those clear for the same reason.
3) Keep a good box of hand/foot chemical warmer packs in your rig just in case you have no power or power fails. They will keep you alive in an emergency.
4) If possible, turn your rig so that entrance/exit/doors of your rig are pointed away the wind. If you do this, you may also need to plan on covering the radiator in your engine compartment area to keep it from freezing due to the windchills this will cause.. If you are lucky, the rear or opposite side of your rig will be pointing into the wind however.
5) Do not use open flame heaters, liquid fueled heaters etc inside your rig in a blizzard without making absolutely sure you have them vented with fresh air that is not blocked by snow..
Sadly, there are people that do this kind of camping... and died because of it. The biggest mistake of all those are forgetting to keep exhaust and intake vents unblocked.. People hunker up inside where they finally get warm and don't want to have to go back outside.. and it has cost people their lives. So while winter camping is a lot of fun, just make sure you consider everything when doing so.

He means when you record feature length of the blizzard sounds etc. That's what ASMR comes in. I have 12 hours worth on UA-cam of Cummins diesel running idling for 12 hours. ( technically is being looped to make it 12 hours worth of sounds) believe me, people love it, makes them go to sleep whatever sounds by listening to it :)
People can get that type of video/sound anywhere. No need for him to do it. He’s doing great at what he does best. Maybe you should record that yourself if that’s what you want.

The military moved us to Montana. We arrived in July, and set up our pop up camper. The first night the temp dropped to the low 50s and the winds picked up to 50 mph. Our plans for camping while waiting for housing vanished quickly.

Max Trax, or do what a native Michigander always did-pull out your floor mats from your car/truck. Do what he just did, but save the money! Works every time. rubber mats, carpeted mats, makes no difference.

My dude that was a sweet drift! I went camping with my Toyota GT86 late last year and was drifting about all over the place in the snow.... i set up and an hour later some guy in a VW Camper is doing the same haha, had a beer with him and he showed me your channel, love the content!
