What's your opinion about replacing the bookshelf(surround back) with floor standing
Not very beneficial. Because the bottom drivers will be obstructed. So no big benefit for spending more. I have lot of temptation to do this though.
@@ModernMallus Thanks for your reply. I’m using the SONY STR DN1080 , which keeps asking what sort of speakers you have as surround back small,medium,large? My ears telling me that I need a pair of floor standing speakers . I didn’t follow the auto calibration but I set it up as I felt comfortable
@@AnilKumar-lr2cl Your strategy is right in my opinion. Setting up satellites (or even FL FR) crossover will totally depend up on what those speakers capable of and what your subwoofer is capable of.
Say, if you have two subs and have a good distribution, target a higher crossover. You don’t need other speakers to provide bass support.
This way your overall system will perform better.
If you need low frequency reinforcement and your speakers can go low , yes you can do that.

I have listened to GLE floor standers. They sounded like an entry level speaker. Bass was slow and loose. Didn’t inspire much confidence. But I may be thinking from a vento perspective.

If you are interested in, nay, addicted in a healthy manner, to the purest form of music known to mankind, western classical music; and if you can afford it, definitely go for tower speakers. The detail you would get from all those drivers combined would be a blissful force to be reckoned with, compared to what bookshelves could ever possibly reproduce. And none of this matters, if you are not playing Audio CD (even one burnt from .wav files), the king and grandmaster format for classical music!
And the term used to describe Malayalis in your channel's nomenclature itself is derogatory; refers to the worst kind of Malayalis; makes regular and sane enough Malayali's skin itch hearing it being mentioned.

The most important consideration in choosing b/w a tower or bookshelf is the room you listen to.
You can't put a great tower in a small room and expect anything more than mediocre.
