My bike was stolenfrom uni campus. University refused to show footage until I got police. Contacted police they said I didn’t need their consent. I find the bike YEARS later in town. The owner tells me they bought from a pawn shop. Police tells me ‘yeah, these shops come and go very quickly’. I go to the bike shop I bought the bike from (literally 5 shops away from the pawn shop). They tell the police they’re unable to produce proof of sale?! Several days later, the pawn shop turns into a massage parlour. I have no faith in humanity. If your bike is stolen. Steal it back. Rig it with alarms and trackers because no one cares about you.

I've a Police Superintendent by the proverbials for rudeness. Involves a MP writing to him as well. So far no action on the crimes you are talking about.
However, I do have a complaint going in about Sir Mark Rowley tomorrow. He's the data controller for the met, so he takes the can for the failures to handle a subject Access request.
10 page complaint. List of the laws broken. List of the code of ethics breaches [and hence laws broken]. He can't be investigated by his own force, so its MOPAC.
Now MOPAC are interesting. They have disconnected their telephone number and won't allow anyone to their new office. That's generated a complaint. Now Khan is the PCC in charge of MOPAC. That complaint handling is quite prescriptive in law. There's Statutory Guidance on Police Complaints. For example monthly updates. The current backlog at MOPAC is 10 months.
So Khan is subject to the law on complaints. I'm pretty certain they will cock up, and the complaint will go in about him, which means he's under IOPC investigation. How's he going to get out of that?
It also happened to a neighbour. Hit from behind, e-motorbike on the pavement. In a wheelchair.

I tell people never to get your phone out, stay in large groups, never look like you've got anything valuable, if you see anyone looking at you for more than a second than go somewhere else, etc. It's really lawless now, and you have to look out for yourself because you can't rely on the authorities. Went back last year to see family and friends, saw one lady crying because her purse got snatched, and I had to get it back. Got followed by muggers on public transport and had to confront them in front of group of people before they made their move. It's a shit show.

I often leave my motorbike outside a shop with the key in and my shopping in a bag ,when I go to local bars and restaurants restaurants i leave my phone on the table when I go to the toilet and my mail order packages are left on an outside table if I'm not at home, all these things could easily be stolen but in the last 9 years it's never happened, says a lot about British society vs Thailand

The penalties for simple theft in Thailand is up to 3 years. For robbery it could be up to 10 years. Thai society places a high value on community and familial relationships, which can act as a deterrent to theft. With a significant portion of the economy relying on tourism, there is a vested interest in maintaining a safe environment for visitors. This includes efforts by both the government and local communities to minimize theft.

I had a cultural shock as being from Baku on my first week in London. My phone was snatched from my hand by someone who was on the bike and with hoodie in front of my uni on the second day at the uni. I called the police, but after they arrived I could not describe his face to the police. Since It just happened in front of my uni, I asked the police to check the CCTV to see the thief instead of asking me how he looked like, but the police refused to do it by saying that police didn't have permission for that. I told them I can ask the security guy, I am a student here but they still were not interested. I was very surprised by this inaction of the police. Since Baku is the safest city in Europe, one can walk with the phone on the streets at night alone as a girl without any concerns, as nobody will touch to you, because they are afraid of the Azerbaijani police very much and think that one phone, a wallet or one rape doesn't worse their long years in prison...There are CCTV everywhere in Baku just like in London. They can find the thieves in a couple of hours in Baku. If this British journalist could find the thieves easily, why the police cannot find them while having all the administrative resources?

A large part of it is the ''targets'' nonsense Labour started. Police and many industries focus on meeting ''targets'' as quick and easily as possible rather than doing what needs to be done on a day to day basis tot he best of their ability. Car thefts, shop lifting, burglary, illegal immigrants etc are all difficult to investigate and take time and effort. So police ignore them and target petty non crimes which are easy to deal with and meet their targets for the week. Doesn't help that we no longer live in a high trust society due to being swarmed with people from low trust cultures.

The same girls came up to me wanting a ride home.. I was hanging on to my bag, and I started to walk closer to the shops, where there was cameras.. Then I heard the older man saying to the girls No No come here. I looked up and saw the man calling the girls and they run towards the man.. I think the girls was getting ready to rob me… Thank goodness I kept walking towards the shops…

The bigger problem is that judicial system is too lenient, that is why the police dont bother getting involved with most crimes. What is the point in police spending their time and effort to catch a thief when the judge will give them a suspended sentence. Just today i read of a diverse guy who was harassing women in bournemouth who then went on to assault an officer. The judge said that he didnt have to to do community service because he couldnt speak english. So just had to pay £2 a week in fines. Along with labour letting out thousands of criminals, judges handing ridiculously lenient sentences and the courts being told to hand out softer sentences to those with 'under-privileged' status, this country is becoming a scary place to live for the every day person. The whole system needs a punch in the face.
