I agree about getting more time to relax 😊 I've been doing the same thing planning my Christmas this year because I always work so hard to create a wonderful Christmas for my family that I am sometimes too exhausted to enjoy it with them 😊❤ and where's the fun in that? 😊
Keep your old Christmas baubles and over the year, knit some nice Scandinavian style covers for them and then, come next year, you’ll have a whole new set for the Christmas tree. Good idea with the Christmas cake - think of the money, time and worry you have saved yourself.
Just wanted to say I know you like Christmas movies. I watched a lovely one yesterday, The Christmas Candle set in Victorian England. On Amazon Prime. Absolutely lovely 😍
I've never commented here before, but you really made me smile (as you very often do) when you said you've got to titivate the fruit cake first - a word my parents used to use and brings back such happy memories of my dad teasing my sisters and I when we put on a bit of make-up, etc. My mom used to bake ours from scratch each year, and would put large glace cherries and sometimes pecans on the top as decorations, up until the year she passed. My hubby actually bakes one occasionally now, but it's crazy how expense the ingredients are and we would have done (and do) exactly the same just buying one instead. We loved the Sainsbury's Taste the Difference, with a touch of Brandy, one last year and, like James, we prefer sans marzipan and will happily eat it warmed with custard too. :)
I agree, it's way more important to enjoy your self through the Holidays rather than all stressed out. Also with prices so high, I've always tried to make it fun to conserve, save money where I can find another place that needs it.
Prices are crazy in some areas...I went to my local garden centre with a friend. We had a coffee and a slice of Chrismas cake and it cost £16.50 for the two of us...I thought "I could get a whole cake, a jar of coffee and the milk for that!!!" Yes, you made the right decision re the cake...I bet the kids don't eat it anyway!!
I got so excited when you mentioned that your holiday shopping was coming up where you all pick whatever you want!😂 I’d forgotten and I always love when you do that during Vlogmas! Good decision on the cake!!!! ❤
What a great idea to save yourself time and work. I’m baking treats with the intention to give my neighbors. One left yesterday to be with family, the other is leaving in the morning. I’ll hunt down someone to give this sugar to!😂🤣
It’s so funny. You love super markets and I miss the little individual shops. I am from Ipswich and live in Arizona. However I don’t miss the rain. Lol
Paula, the holidays are always magical when we have less jobs to do and more time to enjoy them with the people we love….no shame in making life easier so you can enjoy your time!! ❤🎄
Hi Paula, I used to make mini cakes for a lot of my friends, until I realised how much they cost to make in Ingredients and fuel and time. Now I don't. Not worth it. They dont even want hand made socks! So I just get them a nice chutney or something to eat, a bottle of wine perhaps, and I spend that money on Baileys for me to relax and enjoy my Christmas 🍷🍸🤣🎅🎅 I hope u do the same, love you vlogs xxx
Nothing wrong with being frugal! I made a Christmas cake this year for the first time in years because we’re having company who eat it. Normally I buy a small one from Betty’s just for me xx
Good idea, I made a Christmas cake on Sunday but I’m trying to get into the Christmas mood, not really feeling it this year too many family bad things this year. Lovely Lilian she really is a very pretty dog. Thank you for all your lovely vlogmas videos xx
That is what I call a result buying a Christmas cake and now, you have money to spend elsewhere. Sometimes it's not worth buying baking ingredients when it's cheaper off the shelf. Shame but that is how it is these days.
You cheered me up I had v bad night with colitis and I think I passed out and ended up on bathroom floor but my lovely daughter in law helped me up hubby can’t as poorly with gangrene and blocked arteries and waiting on surgery what a pair we are but lovely to see you dear Paula you re like a pal
I'm finding it almost impossible to relax. It's always rush rush rush in between work. Plus it's hot as he'll here in nz. Should be sleeping in the day and working in the evenings when it's cooler like Mexico does lol. The last thing you can say about xmas in the southern hemisphere is * cosy lol
Paula I bought one of those cakes for my mum lol I bought Christmas cake toppers in Home Bargains anything for a bargain lol. You did the right thing. Awww Lillian she's lovely and Ian we all know he's a musical genius lol. See you tomorrow xx
You made the right decision about the cake. I haven’t done any Christmas baking this year, I bought things and gave myself more knitting time 😂🧶

You and Ian have the best vlogmas intro ever! Please, please keep going 🙏
Congratulations on liberating yourself from extra work! Enjoy your freed up time.

It used to be cheaper to bake, but not nowadays. The ingredients for fruit cake are so expensive. I love fruit cake. I’ll be buying mine too!

So agree with you about the Christmas cake, especially with the price of fruit and electricity, not to mention the preparation time. 🥰
Love you and Ian together, with or without the 🛎️ 🎄👏

Well done on the cake decision. £5 instead of £30. A no brainer. 😂
I love it hearing Ian's band!
Ian is soooo cute and so smart, really looking forward to seeing your treat shop at the big Sainsbury, hope you will share what everyone picks out.
It’s so funny. You love super markets and I miss the little individual shops. I am from Ipswich and live in Arizona. However I don’t miss the rain. Lol

I love your decision to buy the cake. I am thinking of doing take away for Christmas Eve. Yay us!

You can cover your old Xmas baubles in liberty for next year xx

It’s nice to feel happy and it’s really infectious watching you 😊. I’ve bought an uniced Christmas cake this year and will just decorate it myself.

Good choice you made, buying the Christmas cake, for so many reasons. Make your life easier and your friends and family will be happier.
Take care
I restarted my tablet to get sound working x
I’m baking a chocolate fudge cake for Christmas this year instead. Too stressful and expensive making the fruitcake.
Oh I love Ian!!
Is Ian on strike? Needing a treat raise? What a cutie!
General Consensus best decision 👍 buy a cake if no one else eats it why stress about baking one
have more Morrisons stollen 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Yes Ian loves you. Ring a ding.

We do not have the chocolates like those in the states.
Good decision on the cake x
You sound very liberated 😄😄😄
I have no sound too.
Is it just me or is there no sound?

No stream for me at all ☹️
I’ve got sound on my iPad but not my phone
