    Ah, the old "look away" move instead of safety glasses on the miter saw cuts. Hah! Awesome project, Bob. Love all of the different mediums on this build.

    Seamstress tip: With most modern sewing machines and even some older ones if you put the pins in horizontal to your seam you can sew right over them. which comes in handy for really tight or invisible hemming.

    Welcome to the sewing club. I knew how to woodwork and metalwork. Bought a heavy duty walking foot sewing machine to sew nylon straps and canvas for camping gear and what not at which point I only knew how to do hems and patches in boy scouts. That lead into buying binding attachments, upholstery gear, all kinds of things. Speaking of polyester, I got tired of using a soldering iron and a lighter to seal the edges and I bought a hot knife. It's kind of become my latest obsession. My wife complained so to make up for it, I ended up sewing a set of full length drapes for her, recovering two pieces of furniture, and now she wants a tufted headboard. Sheesh.

    I made a really simple one from a sheet of one inch thick plywood and some two by fours when I was a kid. Mounted a old sink in it, ran cold water only, and it made the greatest table/surface for scaling /gutting fish and cleaning "critters" that I hunted.

    8:15 If you put the pins in horizontally instead of vertically, you can actually just sew right over the pin, and then just pull them all out when you are done.

    • @NickDClements
      @NickDClements 8 років тому +11

      Sewing machine needle rarely go flying when they snap. Sewing over pins is just like any other activity in the shop, if you don't feel safe doing it, don't, otherwise carpe diem and weld in your shorts ;)

    • @lucykeegan6303
      @lucykeegan6303 7 років тому +4

      Usually when the needle breaks the broken part should get caught by the thread so nothing should go flying

    Just wanted to say I really liked the in-line sponsor shout out while still showing some content (even if it's some of the more repetitive stuff) over pulling us entirely out of the action.
    It's rare to have anything positive to say about ads, but I wanted to take a moment and give some positive feedback on this method, as I think it's a great compromise between everyone's needs.
    Thanks for the cool video!
