- LOOK AT THE SiZE DiFFERENCE! Wow! Every time I filmed the Kraken Vekta 5 racing, and bashing - the common comment was always "The Tires Look TOO SMALL!". Well, not any more! These Maxxis Trepador Tires from Kraken are MONSTERS. But, by adding large tires, I have to install high torque gearing to get these tires moving. DDM (www.DavesMotors...) has Mega Torque Gear Set 17/19-24 for Kraken Vekta.5 - KV103, available: bit.ly/2yFR0GY
"DDM "Black Magic" Hardened Steel Mega Torque Gear Set for Kraken Vekta.5 includes a 17T Pinion Gear and 19-24 Step Gear.
Direct fit into your Vekta, no modifications required.
These steel gears are heat treated, then finished off with a smooth black chromate coating.
Pinion and Step Gear Specifications:
Material - 1141 Steel
Heat Treat - Induction hardened teeth
Finish - Black Chromate

This video I am on my own, and for the first time get into the gearing of this truck. What an adventure and this entire project took me a few hours). It also gave me the ability to understand how the gears work, and to learn about my machine!
During this process, I also discovered that my Servos were glitchy, so I too the opportunity to swap them both out. Now, my truck is solid.
I have done a lot of work to this Vekta 5, and upgraded quite a few pieces. Now, I'm confident that the truck is strong and ready to rip!
Assuming these tires are going to take more torque to turn, steering wise. It may be best for me to install a dual servo setup. This will ensure I can turn these tires with ease. Until then.. I will depend on my single servo, and save up.

A screw in ur fuel line will stretch it causing it come off
My tip is small channel locks with shrink wrap on them to prevent cutting line

Me too, they really set the truck off.. they give it a great stance. I will lose some speed.. but it will be more capable now..
I'll have to wait for some running videos but I don't see the advantage of this mod. That aside the tires are awesome and I am looking forward to a video of it in action to see any differences.

Hey Medic, I was fixing one of my rc's and realized that I have never changes the shock oil on it. It is a 1/10 scale monster truck and I drive it mainly on grass and dirt paths... What Weight shock oil would you suggest for me to use and is there a specific brand? BTW I watch your vids every day... Keep it up

When working on a kraken it's mandatory to "release" everything your removing disconnecting or dismantling, as in release the kraken! He he he 😂

RC Mentor of the North! I love my VEKTA.5. I bought the kit version just before xmas. I've had servo problems too. These things just seem to eat them. I've got HITEC D840WP's servos now. They have 50kg of torque with 2S. Holding up well. I bash mine pretty hard. That's what they are for.

Those maxxis trepadors look wayy better than the original tires. I think that they fit the truck much better.
