To everyone who commented in this comment section and is from a different country (I'm sure most of you know who you are), we thank you for your kind words. Many Americans themselves don't like this country and how we are often portrayed or represented these days. But you've helped reassure us to feel good about our nationality, including me. Of course, we still have many shameful flaws. However, I'm very happy you guys have found a way to look past them. And so, from the bottom of all our hearts, we thank you for your inspiring words. :-)
(Just wanted to include these since it is causing a controversy in the comments.) 1: The term "America" can be applied to all countries technically in the "America's". But, it is also used as a shorter term for "United States of America". For all we know, they may have wanted to keep the song title short and simple. 2: Like I said, we have flaws. And most of us aren't afraid to recognize them. But really, no country is truly "safe" from a dark history or "pure" in terms of "perfectionism without fault". Change and development is always underway in many nations. And change can be considered a conflict one must go through to help themselves and other people around them. For nations, change is often debilitating and reckless. But it is a process everyone must go through, one way or another. Otherwise, if you still don't believe me, try playing a game of Civilization without somehow starting a war with another empire or them starting a war with you. Lol. ^_^
Very inspiring words. I am Australian but this still will mean a lot to other people. Keep making this world a better place, Jazzy. You are a true patriot for typing those words.
The problem is that there is so much pressure on schools, on the educators who already tend to lean left, to teach the wrong that America has done. They drill it into kids heads to the point where we have a generation of kids that feel the need to right these wrongs that are long gone. A generation that feels the need to spread the idea that Americans are entitled and should be ashamed. Newsflash, America is exceptional. We aren't inherently better people, America is exceptional because the ideas that our country was founded on are exceptional. America is the only country that was founded on an Idea. Give us liberty and justice; and we, the people, can do the rest. A beautiful idea that has spread throughout the world. Capitalism isn't the moral solution. There will be people that get fucked over, there will be people that get swallowed whole, chewed up, and spit back out. Not everyone starts at the same place, life isn't fair. Capitalism is a machine. But its a machine that doesn't care who you are, what you look like, or where you came from and that is a beautiful fucking thing.
Brad Morgan On top of it. First I have to help someone named Athene and then I have to go meet with the Neo-Druids and help them make a few corrections. I'm a US Navy Sailor and I sympathize with this song quite a bit. We're working hard and fighting to keep the country safe, and it's not easy. It's really hard to look back over seas to see our family and our country. I miss my family and friends, my home that I grew up in. When I come back, people won't look at me and know what I was, or what I do, but I'll know they support me.

+jonathan rodriguez not really braveness and intelligence are two very different things. there are plenty of dumb brave people and vice versa as well as brave intelligent people.
IdogsFurnace Stupid? We’ve won the most Nobel Prizes by far. We’ve had the most scientific breakthroughs than any other nation has. You’re the dumb one if you seriously believe those AMERICANS ARE STUPID AND IGNORANT videos. They’re staged. Americans are in general very smart people. Heck, we invested 700 billion dollars into rebuilding Europe after it was completely destroyed. We dominate the world in all aspects, and will continue to do so forever.
Thatguyintheback The point where Uncle Sam defends what’s real about our great nation. Uncle Sam doesn’t care if it’s a comment from three minutes ago, or three years ago. I love my country. we may have our ups and downs but Americans get back up no matter what and that's what makes us great. I only wish this song could be heard by many millions more.
God I remember when life was just so much simpler than what it is nowadays. Back when this was released back in 2010 I was sitting at home on a couch as a kid watching cartoons and playing in the streets. Now im just sat at home self isolating and wondering if ill survive this pandemic. This song over the years has given me hope in the darkest of times. its a song about loving your country, and although im not american I know what its like to be free and have hopes and dreams. Great song.
America's fighting men and women sacrifice much to ensure that our great nation stays free. We owe a debt of gratitude to the soldiers that have paid the ultimate price for this cause, as well as for those who are blessed enough to return from the battlefield unscathed.
thank you for that comment. all my ancestors who have fought for this country, or for the Confederates since most of ancestors are Southeners, would be grateful for such a comment. My grandfather fought during the Vietnam War and not enough people thanked him for his service, whether that be towards him or all the soldiers of the Vietnam War, it is gratifying to see people still support the military like yourself. In the words of Ronald Reagan, "God Bless You".
howard baxter I am a Southerner myself....Straight from Houston, Texas and we don't need to fight anyone out there to know we're the best - That goes for America. As for the American Civil War May they R.I.P to both the Confederates and the Unionists, because all of them were Americans and let there never be another war like that.
Randy Blonde Agreed, on both the thing with Southerners being the best and hoping there is not another war like the Civil War ever again. What pisses me off is that history books make the Confederates look like evil monsters when they are still Americans fighting for what they think best. I am glad that someone else in this world at least appreciates them and finds that there deaths are American deaths as well.
Randy Blonde I respect and appreciate them, but to bad they're fighting and dying for the damn corrupt government. I know they dont fight for the government but still it's a shame.

That wasnt enough to pay off the corporations debts, so FDR went ahead and put you and me and every other American up as the security. He literally securitized our flesh and made us debt slaves. This was done through the birth certificate and Social Security. The name on your birth certificate is you. Many people's comments are extremely disrespectful. This song isn't about how great America is, this song is an ode to the soldiers that fight everyday to keep you and me safe (well if you live in America). Even if you don't agree with the government's choices, soldiers put their lives on the line for us and many times we fail to give them the credit they deserve. The members of the military are much braver and more courageous than any of us could ever hope to be. So the song is good to Veterans Day. =]
My Grandpa, Great-grandpa and the rest of the men in my family have been in almost all of the American wars. My great Grandpa who fought in World War 2 was a captain of a flying squadron of the fighter aircraft. He flew a P-51 mustang fighter. Me being myself love this beautiful country and decided to carry on the tradition and join the US Airforce when I grow up. My great-Grandpa told me how hard it is but that's the risk I'm willing to take just because I love my country.
That's amazing! I also share a similiar family history. My ancestors date back to pre- American Revolution. I have an ancestors who fought in the American Revolution, the Civil War, almost WWI, WWII, and the Vietnam War. My grandfather was a POW in the Vietnam War. I plan to join the US Air Force after I graduate high school. I love my country, because in my opinion it is the GREATEST country in the world. That is my OPINION. The statement that a nation is the greatest is an opinion, many say that it is fact. However, I say it is a personnal truth to many as well as myself. I love my country, the bases as to which it stands for. Many above said that the our Founding Fathers were hypocrites for saying "All men are created equal" and then being slave owners. To start, if they had abolished slavery in the Constitution at that time there would be no USA. Most of the southern economy was based on slavery and major agricultural economy. Before the Civil War there were pushes in Congress to slowly push out slavery. After the Civil War, the South's economy was devistated. Looking and learning about USA history is long and interesting and heartbreaking and hopeful. When I was in USA History last year it was drilled into my head by my teacher that our country is not perfect, it has done many horrendus things, but it has also done so many amazing things. Did you know that the USA is the most charitable nation on the planet? We are taught that it is our duty, as human beings to help others regardless of reprecussions. The truth is that our goverment has sone many bad things, and so have all other governments. We are not infallible. The USA is a young nation, less than 300 years. We are one of the largest and most populated nations on the planet. Previous comments say our nation is corrupt, but every nation is corrupt. There are nations were people live in dumps because that is the only place than can get food. I can say as an American, I am almost stupidly lucky to have been born here. Other people want to know why we're a "fat, arrogant, stupid, lazy, racist, sexist, etc." Well here's the answer: we are human. Just because we are born in another location on this planet that is held up to this expectation to be perfect does not mean we are. Every country is made up of humans.
Claudiu Balta that's a bit cynical, don't you think? The war on terror currently is in fact protecting your own ass from a suicide bomber. Show a little respecr.
A beautiful and inspirational song that should be played in schools throughout the nation so perhaps today's youth will see America as the leader for good and something to be proud of :)

I haven't heard this song in years. It felt like I was back in highschool again. I'm grateful for the life I have here in America, and I aim to make the most of things. Life is wonderful, and os something to cherish and take by the reigns. Make your life yours where you can. The things that are the most worth it are the ones you're willing to work hard to get to or achieve.
America is already very. very great. A land filled with loving diversity and companionship, where all humans work toward happiness for themselves and their peers. Nothing is perfect, but things can still be great :).
xTHEx xUNTITLEDx Yea, and it’s the people who hate white males. The ones who pull the sex and/or race card to anything anyone says that hurts their precious feelings... honestly people have gone soft and blame it on white supremacy and sexism...
Acts of atrocity are not limited to a single nation. It doesn't matter who you are, what your ethnicity or nationality is, who your god is or what your culture is like. Each country has its own brutal history: America has its slavery, the Native Americans have their tribal wars, the native Australians have their genocides and the Japanese and Chinese have done horrible things to each other, to name just a few. It's not what nation you come from or what you believe that produces the hate, really. It's the fact that we're all human and every human is capable of the worst kind of crimes against their fellows.
Not really. I don't remember Iraq or Pakistan become a bastion of liberty, and prevent the world from falling into the hands of a totalitarian state. Also, Hitler doesn't really approve of this, "liberty" thing. So, no. It's not applicable to literally every nation and every person. It's not even applicable to any other nation or person. That's why it's called "America."
I'm Italian and I want to visit America soooooooooo baaaaad! I hope to get the chance someday. :) I actually want to visit a lot of countries, I find cultures that are different from mine so fascinating.
Hope you do get to come and really enjoy our country! The best state is Texas, but don't come here in July- you'll melt ;-) Virginia has the best historical stops... and I can't wait to see the Sistine Chapel!!! and all of your land's heritage!
Interesting fact about America is that, America is the only country in the world that got independence from the English empire through war, the Revolutionary war.
+1 for Texas. Texas is really friendly, during the right time of the year BEAUTIFUL with flowers and blue bonnets and a lot of historical sites. And the BBQ is to die for!
Come to Ohio! Full of history, and an awesome football team... nice people and a lot of special places to visit. Camping is fun in Ohio, and there is a lot of things to learn about America there. Ohio is a historical, Awesome state. Ohio was the birthplace of aviation and flight ( I think, wait, yeah my grandma said that the first plane flew in Dayton, Ohio. Aviation, I don't know.) Ohio people are really friendly, and Indian history sets here.
I am an American, And yes our country is not perfect. But no country is perfect. War and slavery has stretched all the way across the world. People can say how the natives were pretty much slaughtered. And they would be right. But we are not the only country to do such savage things. Japan has had its own civil wars. China has had its own wars. Europe has had its fair share. If we start to condemn others, we condemn ourselves. Even if you are not religious, this Holy Bible verse holds truth regardless: "Before you mention the spec in your brothers eye, first remove the log in your own eye". we are all guilty. All country's have done wrong. We can only try to improve ourselves. Which is true about our country's as well.
Yeah, and if people really think we slaughtered the natives, you have to remember those people were from Great Britain. Some may argue that they were still Americans, but you have to take that into consideration. And btw, how do you think the rest of the world was settled?
All good but you cant just keep on entering every country you think its messed up and doing whatever you want there. And its pretty obvious that most of the times you people dont look for the best of the country where you are getting involved, you just cares about stealing all you can, no matter how many people die or how you are destroying the country. Why do you think that you have terrorism from that countrys? You enter to their countrys you bomb everything and you think that you are doing the things right? You have to have concecuenses.. You people think that you are the kings of the world or somthing.. just accept that you are just a fucking country. Let other people resolve their own issues becouse you always make it even worse. Peace
That was a nice comment. And yes, Americas government does like to get into everyones business. Me, as well as many other Americans, are against getting into everyone else's business. But America was once an isolationist country. We tried to stay out of everyones business. But America has been pulled into everyones business. And since when does America bomb and kill everyone?

I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it, to support its constitution, to obey its laws, to respect its flag, and to defend it against all enemies" The American's Creed William Tyler Page- 1917

With all the protests going on now, as a European (Austria) I just wanted to tell you guys from the US that you should not stop being proud of your country. The things that the American Idea stands for (Individual freedom, democracy, equal opportunity) are the corner stones of our Western world. And you literally saved the free world (together with the UK) during WWII. So don´t let anyone tell you that you should hate your country. Yes there are dark parts of your history and you made mistakes, like any other country. It doesn´t matter wether you are blue or red, what matters is wether or not not you share those basic ideas that your country was founded on.

The point where Uncle Sam defends what’s real about our great nation. Uncle Sam doesn’t care if it’s a comment from three minutes ago, or three years ago. Back when this was released back in 2010 I was sitting at home on a couch as a kid watching cartoons and playing in the streets. Now im just sat at home self isolating and wondering if ill survive this pandemic.
As for the American Civil War
May they R.I.P to both the Confederates and the Unionists, because all of them were Americans and let there never be another war like that.
Randy Blonde
Agreed, on both the thing with Southerners being the best and hoping there is not another war like the Civil War ever again.

As someone from Australia, this song isn't somthing meant for me.. but it's somthing I can't help bit relate with. You should be proud of your country, sure it has its flaws, but which country doesn't?? Let's be real. Even Australia has its many flaws. =]

America truly is a special country. I'm thankful for everyone who sacrificed in any way for this country. It has saved many lives.
Wow great respect for your family

Yes! Very true! I just hope we learn from the mistakes of others!
Peace

Yes there are dark parts of your history and you made mistakes, like any other country. It doesn´t matter wether you are blue or red, what matters is wether or not not you share those basic ideas that your country was founded on.

This song is not about how great America is, its about all those people including Americas allies that served and died protecting people like you and me so that we can all live in freedom and happiness.
Lyrics (Yes, I copied/pasted, only because no one else wrote lyrics
Is this just an illusion
That I made inside my head to get me by?
Twenty years in debt
Twenty years in the government
Twenty years can never get me by
Then I feel you close
Feel you close like you wanted me to
Feel you close like you wanted me to
Believe in you
Rise to the top of the world, America
America, don't you cry
Lift me up
Give me strength to press on
Rise to the top of the world, America
America, don't you cry
Lift me up
Give me strength to press on
From farmers in the fields
To the tallest of the towers that fall and rise
1-7-7-6
The names upon the list
For all the ones that gave until they died
Don't you hold back
I can see in your mind, and your mind will set you free
And I feel you close
Feel you close like you wanted me to
Feel you close like you wanted me to
Believe in you
Rise to the top of the world, America
America, don't you cry
Lift me up
Give me strength to press on
Rise to the top of the world, America
America, don't you cry
Lift me up
Give me strength to press on
Rise to the top of the world, America
America, don't you cry
Lift me up
Give me strength to press on
Rise to the top of the world, America
America, don't you cry
Lift me up
Give me strength to press on

Joe G Treason? Their rights were being stripped from them so they rebelled. Hardly treason.
+Disdain for Plebs Which rights?
this is a song the world needs to hear now
Yes, indeed. America is still the world's Cinderella and She cannot go to sleep... the world needs America, its leadership and its values.

I'm an American, and I've always wanted to go to France. Ironic. :)
That's Walter Huston at the beginning and the end. He was Canadian and blazed the trail to Hollywood followed by so many other Canadian actors (these days the trail goes the other way). His son John directed him in "The Treasure of Sierra Madre."
Whatever USA political situation it’s, we always love you all !
Italian & American people are real lovers of life, no envy, just smiling and sharing :)

Thank you so much! I know our country really seems like a mess these days, and I’m ashamed about it, I really am. But know there is still sincerity, love and people with heart in the country still. Love from America, the land of the free ❤️
