there's a laundromat across from my apartment. he hired a woman to be an attendant. her boyfriend would show up during her shifts and he would tell the customers that they had to pay HIM $5 per machine for the "right" to do their wash. that woman wasn't employed there very long

It takes a lot of hard work to manage employees you don't know and it showed. It might be fun and games at first but what about sick pay and paternity leave? What about a schedule? What about a weekly budget?

Roman Atwood is worth about $20m. He won't need a loan to replace all those machines. His biggest income in that place is from selling Smile More merch. You can tell he is just doing that for a hobby, not to actually try and make money.

He doesn’t have to, as part of his deal he bought a second laundrymat that he closed and took dozens of machines as spares sitting in his warehouse currently. You don’t need to just replace everything new? Run what you got till they die.

Just discovered your channel, awesome stuff! My wife is from Colombia and she told me where she's from there's no such thing as a laundromat only dry cleaners which shocked me. This gives me an idea for the future should I retire down there to maybe start a small laundromat business with my only concerns being security and not getting swindled for being a gringo.

I want to have a business just to earn money to spend for the motorcycle. It's hard here to start a business these days esp with just little money in my bank. I live in the Philippines.
Sorry if this is a question you've answered before but, why not just use tokens instead of quarters? It seems like it would be an ideal solution to quarters "walking off". Or does it annoy or frustrate customers who may not spend all their money on their wash loads and leave with a pocket full of slugs? I can understand both sides of the argument. Do you have any empirical data either way?
Generally it makes people mad especially those that are really scraping by, they won't want to spend $5 in a machine knowing that they will go home with a dollars worth of tokens.
I'm an RN. I'll tell you the physiology behind that behavior.
There are only two things that we enjoy in life:
1. Serotonin
2. Dopamine
Cocaine and meth both manipulate the levels of dopamine being secreted in the brain. Cocaine stops the reuptake of the dopamine. Meth makes the dopamine dump out like crazy. Your brain loves it.
Your brain responds by rapidly increasing the number of dopamine receptors. That's why users chase the dragon. Anyhow, it's dopamine city in the user's brain. The thing about that is there is a certified DSM 5 Psychiatric diagnosis that is the result of increased levels of dopamine. That psychiatric disease is schizophrenia.
That woman is having schizophrenic episodes because her dopamine is (makes whistling sound) up to here.
Parkinson's disease is caused by excess dopamine levels as well. If you've ever known anyone with severe Parkinson's disease, you'll see very similar symptoms.

Not sure how much the law works but, this is a public place (im assuming), also romans been encouraging about visiting, and this is all public info. Even if roman did take this guy to court, literally nothing will happen because no judge will take romans side when roman himself is all in for people visiting. There's 1 other 24 / 7 laundromat near him 3 other laundromats however they're not 24 hours and he's the only tanning laundromat location nearby. There used to be 2 but the other location sold and became just laundromat.

And isn't roman using the laundromat for views? As I stated in my other video and him directly, with his content talking about laundromats you're going to see a thousand people go and buy laundromats, and I really would like them to be able to analyze a deal right. When my first laundromat videos went viral thousands of people likewise bought laundromats and some of them got really crappy deals. In general I want people to understand the upsides and the downsides
