    I upgraded the rims on my 24 XLT FX4 when I ordered it to the "17” Machined-face Carbonized Gray painted Aluminum Wheels" for $795. Same rims as the Tremor without the paint accent and it came with Falken wildpeaks 235/65 17.

    Excited to see the final product! Thanks for sharing all this info with us. I’m still deciding if I’m going to get the ranger or maverick. Wasn’t thinking maverick at all until I saw a couple with the lift kit and bigger tires. Really makes a huge difference on the looks. Makes it look like a proper little truck.

      Just depends on what you may do off roading. . I would go with the ranger for lift, off roading any day hands down... Love the maverick, ford did a awesome job on this vehicle. But the ranger has a much more capable transfer case for off roading, if ford is using the world rangers transfer case's . It has been around for 10 years easily in the world market, where they trash the hell out of the vehicles. The current ranger is based off the world ranger that never left production.... The new ranger coming to America is almost here though...

    Great tires! I just put 245/60R18 on my stock height XLT. I mounted them on 18x8.5" Axis 5 rims. No rubbing or other issues. I bought this truck as a plaything, so MPG be damned! 😀

      I was hesitant to even go over the 225 that it comes with as to not kill gas mileage. Thinner tires are better for snow anyhow.
      I'll likely get the Falken Wildpeak A/t trails. What you thinking?

      @@rdubs1705 The 2015- and up Chevy Colorado 2.5L comes with an 8" steel wheel with 255/75/16 or an 8" factory mag with 255/70/17. I was looking on the wheel width charts and 8" wheels said max of 245mm tire width. My Colorado at road speeds always needed to downshift into 5th gear going up grades or slight hills. MPG automatically when to 13mpg when hitting 5th.
      Last Sunday I went with a 245/65/17 on my factory mags and my whole driving experience is so much better and so much more mpg. Simply never needing to go into 5th gear up grades. Of course if I need to pass on a hill it is going to downshift. But 6th gear has much more reaction, and holds 80mph so much better even uphill. Only changing the RPM at a certain mph by ~300 RPM. The new tire is only -0.75" less diameter.
      As for a mpg average, I can say on a 1/4th of a tank I can get 2.5 (50 mile) round trips to work and back vs. 2 round trips on the same 50 mile round trip before. It gets so much better in the city and much easier take offs with very little gas pedal effort at all with the smaller tires.
      With the slightly bigger tires I was always from take off to top end needing to keep my foot in the back of it to keep road speeds on hills and take offs. I have to keep my foot on the gas pedal going downhill to keep 80mph but very little; and going back up just insert 1/4 throttle and she starts increasing to 85mph in 6th gear.

    Are you putting those on stock suspension? I'm still deciding if I'm getting 65s or 70s. I'm going with an 1" leveling kit . Hould I go with the 70s or 65s?

    • @ToddsTruckLife
      @ToddsTruckLife  2 роки тому

      I have a 2.5 inch lift from Superlift. I had to make the pinch weld go away to keep it from rubbing. If you do 65s on a 1 inch, you probably won't need to trim. With 70s, you won't know until you try it. Personally, I've trimmed lots of trucks and don't mind trimming at all, but some folks don't like to.

      Falken and Toyo are both excellent tires, and you can't go wrong with either. For a Maverick, definitely don't go with the E rated. Those tires are designed for much larger loads, and there are significant drawbacks of having an LT rated tire on a smaller vehicle.

    I think this tire might be to big for this truck in the the front, do you have a update video of tire on Maverick and if so did you do any modifications to it like a lift kit?

    • @ToddsTruckLife
      @ToddsTruckLife  Рік тому +1

      Yep! I installed the Superlift 2.5 kit, and you can watch the install video on the RealTruck UA-cam channel. I am running 27psi on these tires and I did trim the pinch weld in the back side of the front wheel well to keep them from rubbing. The ride is actually smoother on road now, and has a much more commanding feel off road.

      It's still a positive offset, but lower than factory. I got Black Rhino Bronze Arches 17x8 +30 offset. I've also got a 2.5" Superlift installed now, and with the taller tires, the ride is smoother than it was when it was stock.

      @@ToddsTruckLife I've got a 2 inch lift on my Maverick from Rough Country and I upgraded my tires with Wild Peak AT3 245/70R17's. Since then I added Buschwaker fender flares, but with the stock wheel base, i feel is too shallow and doesn't have the right look with the fender flares. I saw your tires and I thought that off set would be just about right. Thought about going with bigger tires but when I saw your setup with the same size tires I am thinking of going in the direction of just buying new rims.

    • @ToddsTruckLife
      @ToddsTruckLife  Рік тому +1

      @@shagonoy if you want a slightly wider stance, that's the best way to do it. My wheels have a +30 offset, vs +38 from factory. That pushes the entire assembly 8mm, or roughly 1/3 of an inch. I don't recommend going much more aggressive with offset because pushing the tire out will also increase its radius inside the wheel well, and you'll have to trim more. 😉

      No, I ordered my 22 in August of 2021. Tremor is available on 23's.
      As for why not a Ranger, that's a fair question.
      First off, I work in media for RealTruck and the Maverick is a new vehicle that is drawing thousands of people who have never owned a pickup. Buying a Maverick gives me the opportunity to make gobs of content that helps a new audience see the possibilities. I've built lots of trucks and had plenty of seat time off road. This Maverick is not what I would take rock climbing, but it's surprisingly capable in sand and mud, and it fits nicely in lots of tight trails that would stripe most other trucks. After driving it for close to a year, I'm pleasantly surprised with the platform.

      If you call Toyo to verify, they may tell you something different. The load index on your new tire is 108 vs 102 for the stock tire. My guess is they'll tell you 34 psi is optimal. I know that's just 1 psi different, but I'd bet that's what they'd recommend. 😉

      @ToddsTruckLife  Рік тому

      I have a lot of fun, thanks!
      As far as the transmission, I have the 4K towing package, which gives me 3:81 gears, and from a gearing perspective, putting these tires on my truck is not much different than selecting 235/65R17 Falken Wildpeaks for a FX4 build with the standard 3:63 gears. With my taller ride height, I have more ground clearance, and improved approach, departure, and break over angels, so I can get through deeper sand without bottoming out, and I can navigate trails that are a little more technical.
      Sometimes when I'm out having fun, I break stuff. Then I fix it and go have fun again. I guess the risk increases the adrenaline. I recommend that kind of fun. It's way more fulfilling than trolling UA-cam comments.
