I was invited by Naturally Langkawi (Tourism Malaysia) to visit the island of Langkawi to explore and to eat. My wife and I are based in Bangkok, so we woke up early to catch our flight from Bangkok to Langkawi, and we arrived just in time for lunch.
After grabbing our bag from Langkawi airport we jumped in the car and took a drive to Seashells Restaurant, located in laman padi, a rice field. The setting of the restaurant was really nice, with wooden cabanas built over the top of a rice field. We ordered a few different nasi campur dishes, including daging kurma, a beef and coconut milk curry and ayam masak merah, a red chicken curry as well, and we also got some other chicken curry, omelet, and finally both fried fish and Malaysian grilled fish known as ikan bakar. I thought the food was over quite good, and the setting inside the rice field was also very nice.
Lunch accomplished we headed to The Andaman hotel, located on the very northwestern side of Langkawi island. But on the way driving there, we stopped at a local food stall where we enjoyed a few local deep fried snacks and fritters and a donut. I’ll admit, even though I’m not a big sweets fan, that everything was quite tasty - I especially liked the little deep fried banana bread balls.
The Andaman is a very nice hotel, with a private stretch of beach, and so the first thing, after walking around the hotel was to take a swim. After the swim, we ate dinner at Jala Restaurant, a restaurant that’s located at The Andaman hotel.
It was a great day traveling from Bangkok to Langkawi, and thank you to Naturally Langkawi for organizing this trip.
Thank you for watching this video!

Nice video. I love Malaysia. been there 5 times. love it
If I may make one more comment / suggestion I think with your t-shirts you should have one t-shirt that says wow with the letters slanted to the right attached in a big smiling Chili Pepper underneath. And US wiener heads will know what it means.
Welcome 😊👍🏻
Malaysia 🇲🇾🇲🇾🇲🇾
I never got to Langkawi when I was in Malaysia. I loved Penang though and will be going back there to live for six months later this year (all being well!). Loved KL too.
May i know that how can you live in Malaysia for 6 months? I want to live there for a long period too,but for Hong Kong passport, it can only stay there 30 days。。。
Penang alway the Best.. 😂😂
@@pimomo try married a malaysian guy so you can stay there forever plus it come with free house stay
yeah penang is heaven food in malaysia

Where u come from
It must be nice to be Mark doin what he loves the most, gettin away from this Americanized culture, lifestyle and eatery... It must be refreshing and freeing...
In my life, I have gone on many memorable trips. But the one trip that has stayed in my mind and had the greatest impact on me was family trip to Malaysia in the month of July 2018.
Some memories are like falling headfirst into the sea. One moment you're watching the waves push gently back and forth, the next they topple you over and you're drenched in saline water, and the best part is that you've enjoyed it.
Finally, our family decided to go to Malaysia as Petronas Towers always were in our minds because of its beauty and amazing infrastructure. Along with that the trip to Langkawi was an out of the world experience! Located in Andaman Sea, this small Malaysian Island (478 square KM with a population of around 100,000 people) that promising yet another wonderful experience!
Surprisingly, Malaysia is a green country. It's full of normal people trudging through everyday life. Tourism is merely a part of their everyday life. An acquaintance, a local resident took us around. We lived in flats and villages. We lived like the locals.
We started our tour with KL city tour. First visit was to the world's tallest Petronas twin towers. It is truly an amazing architectural design. They can be seen from many miles away, and when they light up in the evening. The Petronas reach an impressive 452 meters high up into the clouds. The towers are 88 floors tall and have an impressive total of 76 elevators. The two towers are connected to each other by a double skybridge on the 41st and 42nd floors.
Next visit was to Batu Caves which is situated about 20 minutes from KL Central. It is impressive with several hundred stairs up to the top to visit the caves and statues that tower over the landscape. It consists of three main caves plus a series of smaller ones, most of them containing statues and 100-year-old shrines.
There are several beautiful mosques also in KL and the Blue Mosque is a remarkable one. Also we wandered through China Town where someone can buy fake brands of any reputable international brands.
New food experience, culture, and socialization were another attraction in Malayasia. In the mornings, they made us unglamorous local food. The, NesiLemak & tangy, sweet Malay food were not in the least tempting, except for the breakfast part. We survived on McDonald's for lunch. Then one time we tried Malay food was unforgettable. In Langkawi, we were lucky enough to find an Indian restaurant.
Surprisingly, there are food courts everywhere in Malaysia that have so many choices of cuisines and the prices were so low and it had never been an issue for us wherever we went. I had always thought of my family having a diverse palate, but this time it changed.
Of the two states we visited, Langkawi was the best. From KL Airport to Langkawi International Airport is about 1 hr 15 minutes journey. Langkawi was a lot like my native place, the Indian state of Kerala. They have the same coconut trees, paddy fields, the same food, the same climate, even similar people. Nature enthusiasts will love Langkawi for its iconic mountainous landscapes, pretty beaches and fascinating mangrove forests.
Langkawi's Sky Bridge, a 125-metre curved pedestrian cable-stayed bridge and is located 660 metres above sea level, and Cable Car were amazing. The island boasted the world's steepest cable car. Back in KL, we thought of the amazing experience we had in the cable car, Langkawi was better. The best part about both the rides were their height, they both literally touched the sky. In Langkawi we happened to go to a local night fair at the place, a place where everything was tourist-free. The place was filled with vendors and ladies bargaining for groceries, freshly cooked food which none of us understood the taste of, usual things which were seen at local markets, except they were all typically Malay.
Generally in Malayasia, night markets are normally opened till 10.30 pm. At these markets, you can almost buy anything: from normal groceries to typical local food and from clothing to household items. You can get all product for very low prices, but you can always bargain to even lower prices. At the morning markets, you can mostly buy fish, meat, fruit and vegetables. They are opened from early morning till 9 am.
My most favorite thing about Malaysia was the culture, everything except the cuisine. It is a multi-cultural society inclusive of native Malays as well as large populations of Chinese, and Indians. All each group is retaining their religions, customs and way of life. The women here were empowered in the true sense. Each day begins at about 9 in KL and bit early at 7 in Langkawi. By the time, every woman, old and young, completed chores at home and moves on to work in their own vehicle. There were women everywhere, as tourist guides, as motorboat drivers even those that reached the sea, as receptionists in places as cut off as floating restaurants. Women even worked as late as men did, at times well past midnight. Life is safe, and happy.
Even this trip was two years ago. But of it is still vivid in my memory. It has given me memories that I will cherish forever. All the way it all meant for rejuvenation
You must've went to bad spots for food. Malaysian food is some of the best in the world. On par with Thai, Sri Lankan, Indian etc. Whenever you have Indians and Chinese living in the same area, the food HAS to be good.
I can't stop smiling every time you roll your eyes like that
He's an idiot so fake
