  • Don't get this sort of a group in all the time! But it was an old collection of super interesting items - though the big mistake that the collector likely made ended up wiping out a lot of the value. Follow along and see what you think of the ~150 items. I thought it was a solid (but not home run) pickup @ $660.

I like how you can actually see the design now. I have a couple of good coppers that are so dark you can't make out anything. I am more than happy buying a coin like that/those. Especially if they are cheaper because of "cleaning".

Ugh. It's painful to see how many coins were damaged by one uninformed person.

I have next to none shown, except for some some Canadian and U.K.Gary Bailey I have learned so much about World coin collecting I can go
Into a coin shop or deal through the mail and have confidence I know what I am talking about and that is all due to yourself, THANKS GaryBailey

19:15 that's a 1 macuta from Angola (portuguese colony). These are minted in Brazil, but they used FOR ALL OF THEM a smaller planchet; you can see part of the lettering is missing and there's no rim.

Its Angola, just a spelling mistake. Macuta was an African unit of copper used for trading through the continent. Known as Manilla in Nigeria and Makuta in Congo. The copper came from the Ndola copper belt which is far eastern Angola, Zambia and southern DRC.

I Love more affordable versions of world coppers like these. While cleaned, some great artwork that's actually visible. Can't wait to see them in your auctions.

9:38 the overstrikes in azorian coins are common. They reused "continental" X réis from previous years.

The Essequibo and Demerary coins are relatively rare in high grades. They've got an interesting history too.

The St. Helena halfpenny is from the year of Napoleon's death on that island so its history is really interesting.

Bor. Rex stands for Borussia Rex (King of Prussia) - this could help to identify the coin.

Aww nuts! Lots of British Colonial, Canadian, and British. I'll start saving up! Sucks that they are polished, but they will hold a few spots.

That state in Mexico (Jalisco) is pronounced hah-LEE-scoh.
    Guernsey is pronounced GURN-zee.
Guyana is not pronounced the same as Guinea. It is pronounced guy-AN-ah.
