played this game for almost 5 years now, been here since the very beginning, and when i started this game up and heard this music, i had never been so excited, back then it was about the story, adventure, and exploration. now its just about getting the best gear in league.
Back then you were the piece of shit thrown away fighting for survival. And holy fuckin shit was the game hard back then. Now it's how many maps can you clear per hour. I don't know. I feel like this games atmosphere has died down quite a lot over the leagues. It's no longer as dark and disgusting as it was back in closed beta. I miss that.
Totally. I mean it was about gear and builds but I still miss this and Library ost theme. It's after Hedge Maze. I was in first closed Alpha and have 2000h+. Most people that play this much think only about builds but I did enjoy musics..
A Simple job, I was told. Silence a big mouth. Get a big payout. And no one was going to be the wiser. Tidy. Except for one loose end. Me. I would have kept my mouth shut. Professional integrity, it's called. Unfortunately not something my employers believed in. They raised a toast to a job well done. I drank and next thing I know I'm on this stinking crate bound for exile. It's not a complete loss, I suppose. The way I hear it, there'll be plenty of work for a man of my talents in Wraeclast.
I started playing during Warbands, and when first time i logged in main menu it was so perfect, the game was so perfect back then, and now... Sure there's a lot of content and stuff and it's still fun af, but it's overcomplicated af too, and it's what makes it great. However, i doubt new players would want to get into all of that unless they're hardcore fans on these types of games. And the main menu itself, it's just perfect, and island in the distance, and camera standing on the deck of a prisoner ship signifying the beginning of your journey throughout Wreaclast. And the music is just so perfect, never have i ever seen a main menu this perfect. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm feeling nostalgic for the good old days, and would so love for this game to have like a legacy version.
Gonna miss this when 3.0 comes around. Never has a game captured my interest quite like Path of Exile. Godspeed, old PoE theme. *21-arrow Barrage salute*
Still one of the best games to this day, but the early days were nothing short of magical to experience. I will never forget logging in for the first time and making an "awesome" build (ground slam), then working all the way through to Vaal. Clearing all four difficulties was a serious challenge back then, as good gear was non-existent and even bosses like Merveil were 10 times harder. Even with desync in the game I can't deny that it was my favourite era of PoE.
Same here. But I wonder - is it our nostalgia or there was something magical there indeed? Probably the latter - with my build I just grind for loot, I don't care which tier or hardness map is. Bosses drop like flies, I just do master missions for fun, but there's no challenge. So I've set myself stupid goals, like get 5000 glassblowers from selling quality flasks (rly :D), because I basically did all the game goals. I think GGG wants to make more content accessible for players without any skill/experience. For me ARPG games when from the first level (!!!) I have to make a lot of effort to get further, are the best. But maybe it's based on nostalgia, because that's how games were in the early days and you couldn't just change the game, because new titles and obtaining them wasn't as easy as now. BTW my first game was beta of D1. And Diablo 1 is for me like early POE. Simple, buggy, annoying, bad graphics, yet... the best.
POE changed to be less tanky and more one-shotty as power creep came. Most act bosses also become easier, not because of said power creep, but because we began to understand them and the mechanics later. Recently, they were buffed to be more of a challenge, and I'll admit, act 1 is difficult again. And that's it, it gets to be pretty simple until Act 10 Kitava, then it's just hell.
Whoever this old composer was, he is one of the best composers out there. I will never understand, that they removed his songs, pretty much every single track is a masterpiece. HE GOT IT, the new one doesn't, the new stuff is so generic compared to this, old lioneyes or forest encampent.
The film "Enemy of states", when Smith finds Rachel. There is a melody, because of which this composer was accused of plagiarism and all his music was cut. It's a pity that it happened, his music fit perfectly into the atmosphere of POE. Today's pathetic themes are completely unsuitable.
I would add that this one also acts MUCH better as a "game over" screen if you die in hardcore. Maybe that's just because i've listened to it too often in that context, but it does sound sad and desperate to me.
Oriath gives more insight into the religion and craziness of its society though. Plus, I find the Oriath soundtrack awesome. It's more powerful than this old soundtrack.
The new one fits more with modern-day PoE. This one would fit an alternate PoE that is more about story, adventure and lore, instead of an acid trip of effects on the screen.
I played teh beta, This was defenly the best main theme song, why did they remove it... It was so fitting, IT also reminds me the witcher music, Dono why they had such decision, their main music sucks now. 3/10, this one was 10/10
Gosh I miss this theme. They really need to give us this soundtrack for our hideouts.
And old Lioneye's Watch
Can't, Adgio plagiarized music so we have no idea if anything he made is legit. All of it gets tossed as a result.
@@daedalus6433 - Yes! Most definitely.
@@BottomOfTheDumpsterFire - I can't speak on this subject. I'd have to look into it and be more informed. I do not know all the details or facts.
Beautiful, Haunting, Desolate, Rewarding, Unforgettable - this song and the game.
what about now?
@@Zinken_ Still the best on the market despite whiny redditor zoomers.

@@pixelpox11 Game soul sold vs money & steady revenue from development. Not something easily avoidable.

I miss the old PoE OST: It was somehow more "fitting" for Wraeclast.
Yeah, the new OST fits in more with the Atlas.
Kamil's work is too intrusive, too aggressive and not miserable enough.
@@VVilkacyPoE has become a very aggressive game though

legendary lines, i always klicked on the shadow at least twice even if i wasnt making one
epic
Talking about some media & lines, sadly this here is the case when developers don't like & decide to change the work that brought them the success.

Played since open beta at least. and miss the hell outta this opening. still come back to it to this day.
Attention prisoners!
2020 and still listening almost daily
Try Max Payne 3 OST too :P
2023 checking in. This is soooooo good. It's Diablo 2 levels of soundtrack. Wish we could have this back.
I fall in love with this intro, seemed POE the darkest
This was the best POE intro scene EVER!
We need the ship scene back!
Beautifully composed music.
I miss this, I wish this would return to the game at some point in some form. :'(
You can always listen to the MP3 at any time.

I think they made ruthless mode to bring back this experience
Letting this play for ten minutes straight, trying to get in the on the launch of a new season. The hype snd this tune made it magic.
Glad I managed to start playing 2 weeks before they removed this theme, at least I got to experience it
oh yes!!
me too.
Oh man, brings back some good memories. Especially the 1:15-1:25 part, bring on the adventure!
Good Old Days
great soundtrack ... really great

Fantastic song. They should bring it back, it is too good and immersive.
You almost can feel the desolation and fears of a mercyless Wraeclast trough this song.
ah when we didnt play this game as a second job....
I just love it
Just started the game. Chilling
ATTENTION PRISONERS!!!
Bring back this login menu
this is still the song i remember when i think of PoE, both 1 & 2
2020
Damn, never heard this before but i started playing sometime around covid.
Miss this music.. Not the new
New music is more epic but the sinkin ship and this one fits a lot better to Exile theme

'Tis the sound of inspiration, to me anyway. made me wanna 100 in hc so bad. new music is meh, empty if you will. in my opinion.
We can never go back. :/
You dont like the new music? You're kidding yourself, they're both great but the new one is so far from bad or forgettable its not even funny.
i'll miss this game
good mystical music
wow 0.9.9 that is early beta/alpha stuff there
this song+ship intro > all Oriath content

epic
at times it reminds me of fallout music...GREAT!!!
oh boy
back again listening to prepare for PoE2
I came back to PoE after years of not playing and confused why they changed the soundtrack? Old one was much better.
Is this anywhere in the game anymore?
2013 gang
Its okay.
Lmao, I left this comment 9 years ago
2022
why remove such a good track ... same with lioneyes watch town ost
the old composer stole a lot of tracks and tried to pass them as his own so they unfortunately changed all of them. Massive shame
Reminds me of the Trackmania theme. Good ol' days of poe
¿Name song?
business idea : bring it back for POE2 😮
This reminds me of these songs: HItman : ua-cam.com/video/x5bg1oEX47w/v-deo.html | Assassin ua-cam.com/video/okKqamlBj8Y/v-deo.html
