I agree with the responsibilty thing, one mistake can cost you big time. As an agency driver with nearly 2 years experience I've had people expect me to take badly loaded trailers, units with defects, trailers with defects, and when I refuse they get snotty but ultimately it's MY licence and ME who goes to jail if anything happens so to any new drivers out there don't be pressured into doing anything dodgy. If there's a defect don't move until it's fixed and if a load is unsafe refuse it. Love the channel mate, I hope my new channel turns out as good.
Hi, Raul. I'm on an agency contracted to a National company so plenty of regular work with short shifts ( 8-9 hours ) . Suits me as I'm not fussed on tramping and have plenty of down time for myself . My agency saying it's the worst January he's had in 20 years with virtually no work, here's hoping for all those drivers out there it picks up soon.
That's a good return for 144 days, your getting loads of time off. But as u say 800-1000 a week if your working all year round is a better than average wage. As u say depends on the area your working, but 200 a day is s good bench mark
I expected quiet in January so worked 70-80h per week summer time. But to be honest I did not expect it to be that quiet. It's just 1 shift per week. And like you say I refuse to drive HGV for minimum pay. I'd rather get back to the forklift. Happy new year!
I have my cpc to renew very soon, and I'm think very serious about if I give up on driving or not. The wages compare to the responsibility, fines, very long shifts, and other's negative sides of hgv jobs it's not attractive anymore. After 23 years of this, I don't see any bright future on this..
I’m in exactly the same boat mine is up in June and I’m thinking about getting back into the building game I’m 32 and have drove for 5 years. I think the wages are rubbish The hours are unsociable The way you are spoke to/treated is a disgrace
It took me 1 year to complete my class1, After i worked for 3 months to realise how stupid i was to quit my old job for it. I get better money doing fast food delivery :D so i am back to what i was doing now and class1 keeping as plan B
Actually to get your licence to fly passengers it’s cost around £100k. On a different note, love your attitude to driving your very laid back. I drove trucks for over 20 years in uk and some of it was tramping, hated the services your treated worse than a pig. Luckily for me I’m now in Canada and thinking of trucking here but it’s a whole different ball game here. Happy trucking all
I take it you work througght your own limited company still? If so so you work direct to whoever you drive for sometimes or is it all through an agancy? I'm PAYE through an agency and they have kept me quite busy so far this year, but I am doing class 2 work to fill any class 1 gaps, I take no less than £13/hr on class 2 though and £15/hr class 1 with holidays on top of them rates.
If you want to work all year on agency and make good money you have to be prepared to drive all classes and do a bit of everthing . Oh and be reliable good at it and not a whiner .
Hir Raul , i am on agency myself my agency has a 17 week tie in with my current assignment, i get 70p per hour more than the company drivers also double time on b/holidays and time & half, BUT unaware to the agency i have been offered a full time job after the tie in peroid :), just one note on your dash cam can you not switch it from kmh to mph ??
Based on an average of 12 hour days... Say some 10 hour, some 14 hour... You averaged £17.36ph. Not bad at all I'd say. Unfortunately for new passes like myself, we may have to take those low paying jobs just to gain experience. The supermarket I've worked at for over nine years on delivery vans won't even take me on and told me to go to agency to get some experience then come back! Not even an offer for training.
I agree with pretty much everything you say there's some shit jobs out there with poor rates. I do a 4 on 4 off shift and do odd days on overtime or agency not everyone's cup of tea but works for me. This time of year is shit there's no work out there and it seems the rates have gone down.
We have been told in the recent past that there was a shortage of HGV drivers in the region of 100,000 by some , others saying 50,000 . From what you have said were we misinformed by these people ?
I've been working through an agency for 5 months now, I asked them before I started to keep my shifts under 12 hours and every single run has been under 11 hours. If you can find a decent agency on this job you've cracked it. It would take a hell of an offer to make me go back to working on the books for a firm.
30k I do a crap job that pays crap 5 days a week for 24k so 30k looks like a dream job to me 👌 Hoping to get to that position within the next 5 years with any luck.
He owns a business as well, plus whatever he makes from UA-cam. So he has 3 sources of income. Also, if his wife works any. 4 sources of income I doubt he's letting his family starve. Calm down!
@@TruckinDavoHow about you calm down, who said his family was starving? How much does he make from youtube and his business then? Come on let us know fanboy. Be lucky to make 2K off youtube a year I'd say given his numbers. Maybe he has a herd of sheep out the back garden or an oil well in the front garden or gets disibility payments for being a whinger all the time. Completely irrelevant anyway, since the point is about the trucking job and nothing else.
@@monkmodemalik8225 Obviously you don't seeing as you think it's 10 hours a day, LOL. Try 12-15. Average it to 13. £14 for a serious job like that is BAD.
i want to do this job but im scared the automation will soon take over and all the truck will drive by them selves, what other job is there similar like this where you can be alone, im search for new careers
Don't worry mate. Automation is ironically going to take over office work and the programmers who created it before physical services can be replaced. (I work in AI development for many of the major players)
Finally someone who tells the truth about wages. All the companies if u work direct u will only get about 12ph, u can stack shelves in a supermarket and get more! We should all get together and go on strike to get a reasonable wage increase
Tried the strike thing a couple of years ago and nothing happened. Only strike you can do is be picky about the jobs and we should not take any job that pais 12ph
Sometimes at my agency I can do a van driving job for only like 15p an hour less than a HGV driving job. The wages that are paid are pretty poor in my opinion now for HGV drivers. We should be on par with train drivers. We provide a service and keep the nation running and we have to deal with a lot of crap on the roads too. It’s no surprise there is a big HGV shortage.
What's wrong mate? Are you gripped because he's one of the foreigners who won't work for a pittance, while most English drivers are chasing their arse round on £12p/h and moaning about the job? I can't fault them, I do the same.

All the best Raul for 24
I like that some service petrol stations are now asda and dont rob you
youre a very relaxed driver
im on car transporting through agency. Net 650-900 a week + Holiday on top. Do a fair few hours though
650-900 is a pretty big difference?
@Billy_W 4 on 4 off some weeks 3 days only. 5th shift is 28 p/h

I found a job driving a 7.5t vehicle for more money that what some class 2 jobs are paying.
What firm?

Saw a class 1 tramper job advertised yesterday for £11.50 an hour, seemed pretty poor?
yeah that is bad. Why would anyone want to pay for a licence and test for that low wage?
bad
Grocery delivery drivers get around that so that is disgraceful
That's near enough minimum wage. Van drivers get more
That’s good money for the time u worked , with a nice big long summer holiday
If you mean commercial pilot more like 100k.
Depends on the country can be 80k
Depends on the area and location of the world you are based.

That 30k for x days work looks good, but i bet each day was 15 hours, nearly double that of a standard working day. What was the average hourly rate?
Didn't have any 15h days. On agency you are not putting much hours

So what's that I hourly rate? Was it 15hours days? 😜
Ya only getting 12pnd hr on them boxes that's all they pay
Not through an agency they don't

On agency you rarely go over 10 hours mate. not a lot of hours there
@@Raul689 that’s good money for the low amount of days you worked for the year in my opinion then fella 👍🏻
210 a day is realy good fir a hgv driver. I live in north west and your lucky to hit 150 a day here. Most average about 13 quid an hour

12£/h? where? I’m new pass working in Manchester for 17£/h on day trunking 5days in 3 off, looks like I’m lucky ;)
