"Loser, Baby" is the best song in the show by far. Keith David and Blake Roman have great voices, and I love the message. It's not your usual, "cheer up, things will get better" song. It's more realistic. Yeah, Angel's life is screwed up, but at least he's not alone. He now has someone who understands that he can look to for support.
Plus the fact that he fucked up his own life, it wasn't just bad luck, his decisions led him there. Really helpful for someone not just feeling sorry for themselves and giving them more agency in their life.
There's a video from the cast wrap party of him singing it live to a piano for the rest of thevcast. It is insane seeing him do it. He goes all in. It's nuts. For a guy with no VA history he is epic.
Charlie is just a nice sweet person who just wants to help people out. I like her character and I hope to see how powerful she is being the daughter of Lucifer.
I never even thought about this! Makes it more heartbreaking and curious to think about where she might’ve gotten her gentle nature especially in a place like hell?
@@cristinaestrella I can't speak as to Lilith's personality (we know she's described as strong willed & inspiring demon-kind), but Lucifer has been described by the show's creator as being incredibly cheerful, sweet & goofy. Luckily we get to meet him in the next episode.
When they are bound with ropes at 13:59 , Angel's rope is chaotic and Husk's is neatly wrapped. Maybe pointing to the nature of their respective "owners". Valentino being an emotional in-the-moment type & Alastor being neat/calculating.
i allways take it as showing their hold on the respective two angels is loose and all over and husk is nice and strong showing the power diffrence in val and alister
I think Angel signed his soul over to Valentino for a variety of reasons (Manipulation, abuse, addiction, protection etc.). But I also think he really did want to be a star. The reason I think this is because the way he wrote the “A” when he signed his name looks like a star. I think that’s a heartbreaking little detail.
It’s also possible that he signed the contract for protection from the exterminators. It’s the only way to guarantee protection from other demons and the angels.
And the little heart. I think Val manipulated him into thinking he was doing it because he loved Angel. That and Val being able to do whatever he wanted to Angel could be why he was living with Val for a while in the first place.
I don’t think this song is meant to say *”embrace your flaws because that’s what you are”* but rather *”acknowledge your flaws so you can grow.”* Nobody can better themselves if they don’t know what the problem with themselves is.
I doubt it’s a song about self betterment and acknowledging ones flaws and more of a “embrace yourself and your situation” or a “you’re not alone” kind of song considering there’s nothing about the lyrics that suggests pointing out their personal flaws outside of what they don’t already know.
I mean same thing really just the first one is a longer way of saying "acknowledge your flaws". But you added "so you can grow" which is definitely the point. If you're faking that you're okay to forget it, you aren't being honest. You need to be honest so you can be aware of what's happening around you good and bad. Because in this hotel, these people aren't part of that world. They are potentially real friends.
@@mimic1984 Definitely do! Helluva has a quite different tone to Hazbin, and it's more character-relationship-driven (although maybe that will come later with Hazbin and it's just too early). It also focuses on different aspects of the world they've built (less on sinners, more on hellborn demons).

If you didn't speak english you'd have no idea how dark it is until the last verse.

As someone who has dealt with the same issues as Angel, other than the substance abuse, it made me so emotional but in a good way. It is very interesting watching people react to this series who haven't gotten sucked up into the hype for the past 4 years. During that time, fans have been absored by interviews, music videos, an dadditional series to get context and learn about these characters. So when a lot of moments come up, for us it's just common knowledge. It's honestly really awesome seeing y'all react to this with a fresh start.
I knew sh*t got real in that scene when we heard the true voice of Angel and in such a defeated tone. My heart broke and I wanted to slug Val in the face.
This has been such a cool journey for you to discover Vivs work. She's fostered such a great universe that's both vulgar and deeply philosophical at the same time. And the choice to do this through animation makes it even more special especially for fans of animation.
When I listened to Poison when it got released before the episodes came out, I knew this episode was going to destroy me…I wasn’t wrong. This is my favorite episode made for either Hazbin Hotel or Helluva Boss, and it’s so clear how big of a jump the quality has made. The 4 years were clearly worth the wait, and I can’t help but be proud and happy for Viziepop now that her show that she’s wanted to make a reality for so long is finally happening. Also, Keith David. And Blake Roman. Need I say more? Edit: I can’t believe I’m saying this, but the next episode takes the cake. God, I love Jeremy Jordan, and the songs are incredible.
I'll admit, I didn't think this show was gonna be for me going in, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't have a big smile on my face when I watched the first episode. This is one of the best animated shows I've watched in years!
This show is for those of us who are broken, but learning to live with it to the best of our ability and with as much honesty about ourselves as possible. The not alone bit was impactful as well.
Episode 4 is definitely the best episode of the show so far in terms of great storytelling and character dissection, and it's such a rollercoaster of emotions, but in a good way. I knew Valentino would be a despicable piece of s***, but man, this episode truly made me despise him; I'm glad Vivziepop didn't hold back in showing the reality of Angel's heartbreaking situation. Angel's escapism is tragic and also very relatable to a lot of people who suffer from the same real-life abuse and self-destruction. Husk being an overlord was also a crazy reveal, and I can certainly see it; in fact, if you go back to the pilot episode on UA-cam, you can see a shadow of Husk in the ensemble shot of all the Overlords when Vaggie explains who Alastor is. Keith David as Husk is such incredible casting, and I adored "Loser Baby" as the harmonious, uplifting tune gives you a cosy and calm feeling after watching such dark moments. Blake Roman and Keith David absolutely killed it in this duet.. The soundtrack overall in the show so far is *FIRE!*❤🔥🔥
One thing I'm a fan of is how diverse the characters are! The height difference between Angel and everyone else is insane, which honestly feels hard to keep consistent in animated shows!
While that's great it could also quickly become a flaw, if every character looks like a main character, and if every design is so intricate, how are we supposed to remember all of them ?
I’m sure other people have said this in other reaction videos, but the personality of Charlie is very much based on Amy Poehler performance as Leslie Knope
@@therandomcommenter6629 Theory: After Facilier was banished to the netherworld, one of his “friends” manifested into an entity of its own becoming Husk.
Episode 4 somehow has two of the best songs of the season so far. Poison is great but with such a sad story told within it and loser is catchy with a somewhat better feeling to it. Even though we’re in this mess we can do it together, can’t stop saying how good this show is.
One of the best and most accurate things I’ve seen people say about this show is that everything depicted is actually a reflection of humanity and all the terrible things we see people do in hell are things that do actually happen and the show is almost calling out how messed up everything and everyone is in our everyday lives. But it also gives us hope, and that’s the whole premise of the show and it’s so powerful and moving
You all should check out Helluva Boss! It's the same creator, but it's all on her UA-cam channel, and it's set in the same world as Hazbin Hotel. It's very similar tonally to this show, in that it starts on the sillier side, but grows more introspective and serious as it focuses on its characters. It's really great, and should be a fun show to react to once this ends! Also, you probably know this by now, but there are actually 4 episodes left, two releasing tomorrow, and two next week.
13:53 I find it interesting that during Loser Baby Husk says "I sold my soul to save my power" considering we haven't acc seen him wield any kind of power yet. He's no longer an overlord (i.e. so he doesn't hv status/ influence/ reputation), & he doesn't hv any kind of magic/ abilities as far as we're aware.
You guys ran into this blind to what was going on with Angel while those of us who's been around since the pilot had a very clear and disturbing understanding of what was probably going to happen
I just wanna say I’ve just started watching their reactions to the Hazbin hotels series, and I love that they take away the music and we get to hear the characters actually sing clearly ❤
I like how no one else is realizing that when Angel says "Yes, Valentino" that might be his real voice and the whole new York accent might be a charade too.
Yeah this episode was a reality check for me about this show that this is actually hell where actual bad people are and not this cartoony murderous and jokester characters. That there’s actual darkness in these characters and they’re in hell for a reason. The greatest episode so far
So excited to watch this!! Also, I love Husk and Angels dynamic sm!!!!!! If they just stay friends or become more honestly, I'm fine with either (I do love me a romance tho...)
While this type of abusive relationship with Angel and Valentino hadn't been touched on much directly in the series itself before this episode (although it was referenced in the previous episode), those of us who had been following the development and other Vivziepop content were well aware of that toxic relationship and knew this was going to come up at some point. The fan-made-song-turned-official-animation "Addict" music video touched on this stuff earlier and would be worth a watch as well!
It’s hard to get through the poison scene. But it’s meant to be. SA and abuse isnt meant to be easy to go through. And what’s sad, is it’s real. This happens every single day, and people self medicate every single day to get through it. This show is a master class in story telling.
After you guys are done with hazbin you should try helluva boss on youtube which is a spin off series and made by the same creator. It takes place in the same universe and has its own story, different cast, expands the world of hell, great songs and as of right now it is still ongoing, so you guys have enough time to catch up,and you'll luv it.
What’s the time line between helluva boss and hazbin hotel? Since it’s on going is it during the same time everything is happening in hazbin ? Like the extermination be mentioned in season 2 or it’s before everything?
I loved this episode. This really made Angel one of my favorite characters. They gave us a total bop of a song with Poison and they end it with that line that kind of tore me open "I wish I had something to live for tomorrow" I was not ready
I love thatvtheu did not hold back on this. Sometimes thebhorror has to be seen for people to understand. And they walked right upbto the line of cant show that a few times. You can confront the abuser unless you canvremive and pritect the person right then. Itbjustvhurts the victim more. The whole thing is deeply messed up. But so cathartic woth Looser after. The final chorus is so good
This is my absolute favorite episode. Love both of these songs. And it was so heartbreaking all the way through. And then that final song comes up. And I love how you call the songs rewards. Because that second song was a big time. Reward going through all that shit.❤
This episode and number 6 where Emily and Charlie sing against, Sera, Adam and Lute, are my favorites. They keep me coming back to rewatch other people process how powerful the messages are.
I love how well this show handles its villains, even though they're all equally shitty it can still get you to cheer and hate the ones it wants you to. Personally the Vs might be my favorite group in the show with Valentino being my favorite character period, when they revealed his moth wings I loved it we don't get enough moth characters.
angel dust grew up in a mafia family and when they all died he might have run away and started doing sex work and got picked up by valentino and that's when he was renamed angel dust
There's a comic someone wrote where we see Angel meet Charlie and Vaggie. Angel took off early to deal with some other business for Valentino and missed the video he was going to shoot so Valentino got him walking the streets to pay it off. In his apartment we see a box that had been labelled "fun stuff" (or something like that) but that was crossed out and relabelled "work s***". So we were told earlier that he has no trouble with the work he does, it's his boss that makes his life a misery.
I only see one other person say this so far but you HAVE to react to the music video for Addict. It's a song that's sung by Angel and Cherri and shows so much about their backstory and how amazing their friendship is. It's also a fucking bop I stg I listen to it multiple times everyday 😂
Possibly a big part of why it can go so far is because it has had a huge following of people for 4 years. During those 4 years Vivienne and other members of the pilot interacted with the fans. Details and backstory snippets have been dropped during the 4 years, so people knew Valentino was a severely abusive pimp to Angel, knew of character relationships and what era they come from when they died etc. There was a fan made song adopted by Vivienne who animated it called Addict that showed a small part of what Angel suffered. Its on UA-cam if you want to react to it, a very popular music video for fans. But yeah for some we sort of knew heavy stuff was coming. This doesn't take away from the episode, it is a favorite of all I think, it just has layers to people.
Yeah I watched some reactions of people who already knew a lot about the characters and they were so nervous and anxious before even starting the episode
Guys, if you enjoy this show, I highly recommend looking into their other show on UA-cam, Helluva Boss. It has the same energy and vibes with just as engaging characters in it as this show!
This episode is the epitome of the reasons why Angel Dust is my close sec fave character. Top fave is Alastor. Third is Lucifer. Of course i like the other characters too. They all have traits that make them so likeable.
So for some context, according to Angel's wiki, he got into sex work to escape his family's mob after he went to hell due to a drug overdose. He named himself Angel Dust because that is the drug he overdosed on. Based on what I know, he most likely signed the contract so he can escape his family and have some success. Angel's entire story breaks my heart.
I love Charlie. Her character is so damn sweet. She's half human, half angel, touched by darkness, but filled with the light. She represents a step above humans with free will and compassion, combined with the nurture of her mother to be good. She fight for good for its own sake and cares about others. Her desire to help others is a MORAL CHOICE to do good, not the amorality of obedience with bribes and threats that's required to enter heaven which is completely broken. Violent angel army come from the "true believers" and the Bible's "through faith, not by works" requirement. Otherwise they wouldn't have depraved, violent, murderous angels in heaven who would take part and enjoy the suffering of others, regardless of whether it's souls in hell or not.

Well, guess I'm gonna go listen to "Loser, Baby" on repeat for a while. Again.
You're not alone.
@@kirara2516YOUR A LOSER JUST LIKE MEEE
Husk’s song is definitely giving me “Friends On the Other Side” vibes. Can’t expect nothing less from the great Keith David!
Husker was the friend on the other side
@@therandomcommenter6629 Theory:
After Facilier was banished to the netherworld, one of his “friends” manifested into an entity of its own becoming Husk.
“Loser, Baby” is one of my favorite songs in this series so far maybe because its sung by Keith David
It's favourite song so far. But Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss have both got great songs.
Episode 4 somehow has two of the best songs of the season so far. Poison is great but with such a sad story told within it and loser is catchy with a somewhat better feeling to it. Even though we’re in this mess we can do it together, can’t stop saying how good this show is.
The songs for this show are catchier than most Disney movies!
Loser Baby is my fav song of the entire series so far.
Vaggie like Maggie, just cut the wings off the "M"
NO FUCKIN WAYYY YOU JUST SAID THAT 💀💀💀
@@seomews NOO FUCKING WAY BRO-💀💀💀
@@yukiyumire i cant tell if you're making fun of me but i was genuinely shocked with my comment ☹
@@seomews Im agreeing on your opinion! I didn’t mean for it to seem like I was making fun of you😭😭😭
This episode is so hard to watch but it's amazing
All the songs in Hazbin Hotel are great, but Poison & Loser Baby are easily my favourites
Angel: Coming!
Val: Not off camera you’re not!
😂 probably my favorite part of the episode. That was hilarious!
Definatly check out Helluva Boss as well. There will be laughter, there will be tears. There will be "what the fluff?"
9:16 Ngl, I forget sometimes that the dots under Angel's eyes are more eyes bcos he's a spider lol
I LOVED THAT U GOT EMOTIONAL I SAW U IN THE BERGE OF TEARS, U GET IT 😭😭
So excited to watch this!!
Also, I love Husk and Angels dynamic sm!!!!!! If they just stay friends or become more honestly, I'm fine with either (I do love me a romance tho...)
6:45 I love when Charlie's demon form comes out lol
9:21 You can more clearly see that Angel's "freckles" are actually his 6 other eyes in this shot when he gets infuriated and they glow.
love the reactions and this show. i think this episode truly solidifies this series as something special
This episode was so great and emotional to watch! 👍
Episodes 4-6 are my favorite one season. When I say "Loser baby" hit my ears at the right time I truly mean it. Favorite song on the season.
"Loser Baby" being an absolute banger of a song that I kinda sing everyday. Keith David can sing man! 😁
This IS in fact my favourite episode. There's just so much emotion in it-- plus the 2 songs in it are bangers.
This episode and number 6 where Emily and Charlie sing against, Sera, Adam and Lute, are my favorites. They keep me coming back to rewatch other people process how powerful the messages are.
I don’t know why, but I see Valentino as a more sinister version of Ursula from “The Little Mermaid”.
I was hooked on Loser, Baby before I even watched the episode. That song single handedly put this episode in my top spot so far.
This was one of my most favorite episodes from an animated show, EVER!!! Incredible stuff!
I love how well this show handles its villains, even though they're all equally shitty it can still get you to cheer and hate the ones it wants you to. Personally the Vs might be my favorite group in the show with Valentino being my favorite character period, when they revealed his moth wings I loved it we don't get enough moth characters.
This has got to be the best episode thus far and it's SOO good! Not to mention that I think these are my Favorite songs so far
There's 8 eps this season. 2 come out today and 2 come out next Thursday. Season 2 is confirmed.
What time today? I've been refreshing amazon periodically throughout waiting
@Rinz-Aide 8PM eastern time. So in about 3 hours
Thank you😁
The real question is what is nifftys deal I'm curious
Its weird not hearing the music. Sounds like what an actual musical in real life would sound like. Just two crazy people singing 😂😅
This episode feels the most like Helluva Boss to me which I love. I’m glad they were able to bring that tone over to this streaming show.
The transition to Loser Baby is just so goood
This is my favourite episode mainly because Husk and Angel get along for once 😂
angel dust grew up in a mafia family and when they all died he might have run away and started doing sex work and got picked up by valentino and that's when he was renamed angel dust
He got the wheres waldo fut on and i rock with it😂 love this reaction btw❤
Will u guys be watching helluva boss after hazbin? It's made by the same creator. I really like your guy's reaction and commentary :DDDD
Although i cant understand english well , this is good review 👏 👍
I only see one other person say this so far but you HAVE to react to the music video for Addict. It's a song that's sung by Angel and Cherri and shows so much about their backstory and how amazing their friendship is. It's also a fucking bop I stg I listen to it multiple times everyday 😂
Now we need helluva boss reactions
I love how reel rejects makes the song acappella
It got me tearing up so much from the back story of angel dust! I loved episode 4
@@Okk681 Same, which is cool the different levels of people reacting to this series. I love it all
I'm curious how you managed to so perfectly isolate the vocals from the song. O:
The music in this episode is SO good.
Hell yeah my favorite episode of the show so far 🥰
"Too many swear words" that killed me lmao
I legit hope this episode get nominated for an award doesn't need to win (but I hope it does)
Without the instruments it sounds like theyre singing because somebody dared them to
This is my favorite episode
*picks up charlie*
Angel:”I thimk this is yours.”
The songs with just the lyrics without the music is hilarious.
I have to prepare myself mentally every time I watch a reaction of this episode....
such a good episode!
Let's goooo my favorite ep
Guys, if you enjoy this show, I highly recommend looking into their other show on UA-cam, Helluva Boss. It has the same energy and vibes with just as engaging characters in it as this show!
This episode is the epitome of the reasons why Angel Dust is my close sec fave character. Top fave is Alastor. Third is Lucifer. Of course i like the other characters too. They all have traits that make them so likeable.
My favourite show and Angel dust is my favourite character from this show new episode Friday
