I was around 10 years old when space invaders came out, so I played all the early ones, space invaders, pacman, asteroids, donkey kong, moon cresta etc... My favourite was a shoot em up that came out in 1984 called starforce, and I play it from time to time even now using a mame emulator. I'll definitely be giving retrobat a whirl, cheers Brian.
for anyone that doesnt know how to obtain rom files:
you will usually have to perform some sort of "jailbreak" on your console to let you dump the game into a rom file you can then emulate.
i hacked my 2ds recently and dumped my cartridge of animal crossing welcome amiibo so i could emulate it
or the other way that everyone of us uses
😉
My all time favorite as a kid was Gyruss. I have a dedicated retro arcade PC running Launchbox/BigBox. I'm glad to have it since I've lost pretty much all interest in newer games since they've gone to requiring internet, forced to play with other people online with their bad attitudes and egos ruining the experience, subscriptions, and putting out half finished games and having you buy the rest of the game as DLC, and now with you not being able to own the game you paid for, there's not much reason to buy/play those games.
ive done this before and all i installed on the usb was old Nintendo games like Donkey kong. great video brian and thanks.
Enjoy!
The last time I set some up on a USB flash drive, I had it last about 10 months. I would get a SATA SSD and a USB to SATA cable, so I could run it that way.
Another good one my friend - thanx. Keep in mind that you might have to reset your controller settings within the corresponding emulator itself. 👍👍👍👍👍
Cheers Brian I have already setup a 5TB retrobat external drive lots of hours went into it setting up the emulators and getting the games. Now if someone is just wanting a few systems then its pretty straight forward and works well. I have also messed around with Batocera which is also a great front end but does require going into the bios to boot to it which some people find a bit of of a task but Retrobat being Windows based doesn't both have thier advantages and disadvantages. One thing that should be pointed out is if your system is a potato don't go getting either expecting to run higher end games like PS3, Gamecube and WII you'll be disappointed but all the 8;/16/32bit stuff should work fine.
You're welcome
A potato should run a Gamecube game since the Gamecube was released in 2001, I even think the Raspberry PI 5 should be able to do it, and it will cost you a little over $100 US to set one up without storage.
That's cool cheers Britec
Er, what did you choose as the "Hot Key" on your controller?
After setting up all the buttons on my Xbox One controller there are no "spare" buttons left.
Do you just opt for a keyboard key instead?
We used to play some game where two frogs slide on ropes and kick enemies, forgot its name
Battletoads LOL
Thanks for a great video!!
Glad you liked it!
I like these games thank you.

@@Britec09 Got it, thank you.
I have been using emulators for decades, I started emulators even before MAME .1 was even released. I still like Aracade games the most. I haven't used one since my old computer died, even that one was set up years ago. It looks like it is a lot easier to set up emulators with the newer fount ends. It looks like I should set up an emulator again, but first I need to get a drive for it.
look hard to get all set up
Hi Brian thanks for the video but where can i download the roms?
I was thinking the same?
First thing I do when setting up my PC is disable user account control I can't stand all those extra clicks
Very cool
#0-Stoppimg your Dog from swallowing your important s-it after spending a week and-a-half trying to find a Bitlocker parody for it (since every other encryption wants to put things in partitions/folders/volumes/vaults, which will end up corrupting the drive eventually. And the drives are so small, I could swallow them.) Still looking. Good video though.
you have to download games seperately :(
