It was Andrès Ségovia, (El señor don Andrés Torres Segovia, Marques de Salobreña ! Ennobled by the King of Spain Juan Carlos in 1981) who gave in concert for the first time in 1935 his transcription of the chaconne of the violin partita n°2… A time when the guitar was still considered an unsuitable instrument for the interpretation of classical music, and Ségovia was long criticized, even insulted for its transcriptions… From where he is, he sends winks to you knowing and admiring eyes… Like the Goldberg variations, this chaconne is undoubtedly one of Bach's most sublime and bewitching compositions and you are completely immersed in this work… A young virtuoso guitarist whom I had met a long time ago and to whom I asked why he didn't play this chaconne, answered me, "maybe in twenty years, for the moment I don't dare to climb this mountain"... If he listens to you today, he will see that “the value (and the spirituality) does not wait for the number of years”… I dare not imagine the hours, days, years of work to arrive at such great perfection combined with so much sensitivity… So many incredible things happen in these fifteen minutes of music and everything is there… JS Bach too, must give you a big smile and regret that the guitar, in this form, did not exist in its time…

Excellent technique. Secure left hand, no string noises. Bach's abstract lines flow easily and delicately.

Dont think Ive ever heard this played with such clarity in the separation of voices. To me, the arpeggio section is the most beautiful music Bach ever wrote...maybe the most Beautiful piece of writing in all of music. Bravo!!!

Serious clarity , depth and strength all along this interpretation .
It is remarkable that her generation is producing world wide a great number of very talented guitarists. How lucky we are and looking forwards to more transcendental interpretations from all horizons. I was earlier listening to Andrea de Vitis and Francisco Lopez and you are ending my morning trilogy with great tenure, thank you for contributing to making life better.

Bravo Laura, it is a magnificent interpretation worthy of this monumental work.
Indeed as said in a comment below your part in arpeggios is incredible. I worked on this piece on the lute, for months, hours and hours, haunted day and night by this music which speaks to us of death and our place in the universe... I can testify to how demanding it is: each sentence must be perfect, each passage must have the right color, and the three parts of the triptych must also have a meaning.
I like to imagine that JS Bach composed this for the death of his first wife at whose funeral he was unable to attend. From then on, the rhythmic form of the chaconne with a very slow tempo, from the first bars, suggests to me a funeral march: men walking carrying the coffin - it must be heartbreaking, devastating.
But sorry, all this is only about personal feeling, and once again congratulations for this interpretation.

Really just can't stop listening to this. Would be lovely to be able to have this level of ability, but as an amatuer I'll have to leave it to the professionals. Don't play enough these days to even get close to that! Never could. But such a delight to hear it played like this. Exquisite.

I happened to see for the first time this guitarist's performance, particular that of Chacconne. This young woman's authentic and serious attitude toward this masterpiece completely overwhelmed me in addition to other musical pieces she plays. I wonder if she likes Segovia. In her sensitive and, at the same time, strong-style performance, I feel something strong and persistant like what Segovia has. If I am wrong, forgive me. But this is my best praise for you.

Flawlessly played, the consistency of your playing is something to be admired.
Impressive hand stretching as well, it’s always awe inspiring for me as someone with very large hands to see people with way smaller hands pull off stretches that I would find annoying, must’ve taken so much work, and it really shows!

May I ask how you arrived at your cello-like posture playing the guitar as I have experimented a lot with this topic and and finally ended playing playing in a standing position like Zoe Barnett.
