3 music Gods, all three splendid and astonishing. John, as a mastermind of this union, is never afraid to experiment and to give as much energy as he can transform into his music, and even some more, but he is not afraid to make some mistakes while improvising, he is free from looking for absolute clarity and definition, giving a chance to a free emotion, but looks at his mistakes with humor and transforms them into brilliant continuation passages. It is unnecessarily to reason who is faster or better, when listen to such a masterpiece.
Thats just your opinion, it doesnt mean anything, except to you. This is art, its not a competition and these 3 are supreme masters of music and instrument. To say one is better than other is childish

I think McLaughlin was playing mind games too, unfortunately he just overdoes it, probably least favourite period of his, and I love McLaughlin, a very English thing I think in ways, to be obssessed with technique and showing off, it's ok if not done too much, I try to play a bit like a kid sometimes to avoid this but I guess it's possible to do and not too bad if a little. Of Course when Al Di got into it was worse, real 'wanking', masturbating on stage. :-(
Don't care for Di Meola's (live, acoustic) tone, and he does the same scale runs over and over again. Larry was a better fit, even though he was not as technically accomplished as Paco or John. I think he got ousted for being a heroin addict.
(1 week ago) This almost one minute of Musical Sublimity: ua-cam.com/video/vMbzBObFE3Q/v-deo.html ...becomes the framing device for this foray into Flamenco Fusion. Coryell and McLaughlin, arguably, invented Fusion Guitar-playing simultaneously, on both sides of the Atlantic; De Lucia seemed to simply appear from another dimension, at about the same time. Such virtuosity is frightening, and superhuman.
not sure but i think i hear a little chorus in his sound when he goes in high frequencies. I am already thankful to have the chance to hear that show but the sound being unperfect makes it hard to find out whats a little unpleasant in his sound. Superb musicians. Still in love with them after decades.
Light gauge strings with low action, distorted by the nature of an undersaddle piezo, through various gain stages is probably going to sound something like this.
Paco clean and impecable as usual..larry clean and melodic at his pace...john as mess up twice at least trying to show speed...paco from from 5:10 is like heaven

This video was published on DVD in 2003 with this speed. I think these was no way to speed up audio in 2003 without changing its pitch and with good quality. So it seems my feeling was wrong.
The person who does something very easy is The Maestro ❤❤❤
Larry’s blues style solo at 2:00 is awesome. John is magnificent he just keeps experimenting and going beyond
Larry rules, the fusion master!

Larry!!! He unbelievable !
2:00 wonderful
Mclaughlin here is like a non stop working machine
The guys were the Big 3 back in late 60s early 70s. Then Al DiMeola made the 4th musketeer. Great times, great music
Superb playing, all so different and all brilliant, first saw this 33 years ago and not bettered in my mind
i love coryell!
The best of all guitarists De Lucia

Incredible piece of music Mr: McLaughlin :)
This is beyond I N C R E D I B L E
I checked my playback speed control. It’s at normal speed yet this post appears to be speeded up significantly.
This version is so much quicker than the FNISF album version. Love it though!

Up to date..
Joe que varvaridad..Paco larri
This line-up was far better than when they got Al di Meola in, Meola was always trying unsuccessfully to out do de Lucia.
100% agree

Di Meola once took lessons from Larry Coryell.

Anyone knows how Coryell gets a strange sound like this during his solo ?? thanks :)

Mostros San Francisco
John is faster but pacos note is more good sounding
Did John miss the start at 0:37 ? Mc seems to laugh about it xD
No, paco missed one part there, went for beginning earlier, but never mind, they played it without rehearsal
Es mas rapida la pua que los dedos indice y medio de la mano derecha
Was this prior to Al diMeola?
yes
Yes, fortunately.

Yeah, but, like, John's wearing the best shirt man.
John didn’t “mess” anything. His improvisation is phenomenal
The recording in significantly sped up. That's not them playing faster.
