Hey I can’t watch the video bubba
@@Poe-007 I know me neither I am so bummed .
@@Austin53095 - yea bubba.. I know.. ur cute btw.. lol 😂
It’s working now… yes
Rhaenyra and Daemon were the massive stand outs. Every scene they are in, they are immediately the attention grabbers
They both have interesting bond too. I heard they will be powerful duo.
Yes both phenomenal 👏 that young lady is going to be a star, hands down, love what I'm seeing can't wait for some other cool characters to spotlight
I don't like daemon's face and I don't like the king's face but I thought the king did well acting. In general I think the story will be good
It was phenomenal!
Lls hahaha, that’s the whole point. It’s just going to be 4 people aiming for the throne. I see a big money grab. Nothing eye catching so far.
The end sequence was so good. King Viserys telling Princess Rhaenyra the secret of Aegon’s vision “the song of ice and fire” and hits her with the double “promise me”……doing a call back to when Lyanna Stark said the same thing to Ned after telling him the secret about Jon Snow. Also Baratheon’s hesitation before kneeling, so many good moments.
I thought it was cringe af.
@@7Nebulae7 bruh, your whole comment history is
which scene is the baratheon's hesitation?
@@NACHTY1 well but it is. Almost as cringe as sams asoiaf in the final episode of got.

@@dinam5017 when Rhaenyra is named heir to the throne Baratheon hesitated before kneeling and pledging his loyalty
Loved the foreshadowing of Aemma saying the birthing bed is our battlefield then the brutal childbirth scene mixed in with the knights battling out at the jousting tournament I found brilliant
And the jousting field is in the shape of a v*gina
Wow
You'd just know that ggrrm is involved in the dialogue.
That scene was pure horror, so good and bad I was legitimately scared of how violent they associated child birth w men brutally fighting and killing each other. I had to stop watching it for a while then debated if I should continue lol.. I did ofc finish. Now tho I never wanna get preggo after that scene
@@angelaperez9592 don’t worry. C-sections nowadays are super safe and very precise and clean. Also, we have safe blood transfusions, so no dying of blood loss, either
I got MAJOR Daenerys vibes from Rhaenyra from the straight eyebrows to the outfit which mimics Daenerys' outfit in Season 7.. it was nice to see those visual connections to Game of thrones. It even made me emotional seeing Daenerys name in the beginning. Man, I miss Game of thrones & I hope this show can fulfill the giant hole GOT left in my heart!
She’s the younger gayer version
@@sean95 - We must be watching different shows because she has 'demonstrated' repeatedly that she's definitely not gay.
The amount of detail and lore they just packed in one Episode is crazy. I really, really enjoyed the Episode!
Wow. Just wow. I just finished E1 & it was tremendous. It felt like GoT & was shocking & surprising. The writing was spot on. It was reminiscent of S1 - S3.
1. The small council bickering about politics was a joy to witness again.
2. I loved the aspect to actually see the jousting at the Prince’s birth tournament.
3. Then how the episode starts with one Targaryen riding & landing in joy and then the episode ends with Daemon Targaryen taking flight on his 🐉 in frustration.
Superb.
I already can’t wait for the next episode.
@@CJLAKE123 Exactly. GoT S1 vibes, great dialogues and intriguing conversations. Loved the whole ambience.
He spoiled everything!! WTF. I came for a review of the episode not for you to tell everything you read in the book!!
Me too. An hour had passed so fast and i just wanted more of Damen an young Rhayneria. (Sic)
I have seen the episode 3x and will watch it a 4th right before the new one airs on Sunday
I have to disagree with you on Otto Hightower. He is Definitely throwing his daughter at the king. He even told Alicent to wear one of her mother dresses. Thats was to make her look older and to get her thinking about her mother's death, so she would instinctively use that to comfort and bond with the king. Daemon is right. King Viserys needs to be protected from himself, b/c he can't see when someone is playing him. I bet there was nothing wrong with his baby and he didn't need to cut his wife open like that. I don't trust those maesters!
There is no reason to believe The King didn't recognize the move Hightower was making. He appeared skeptical. If anyone was playing him it was Daemon and he called that out.
There was certainly something wrong with the birth. The mother went out of labor. She was just laying there in a daze. She was bad off before too. I've known many women through many pregnancies and that behavior isn't' normal.
@@regdwight3115 No i think the King is an avoider of conflict. So he's not used to dealing with something until it's in his face. I didn't say the Queen wasn't having issues but they couldn't turn the baby? I just don't trust them. Also how did the baby die? We see him alive and than he's being fried. King Viserys sees Otto as a honorable friend. That man will stab him in the back quicker than he let them cut open his wife. At least Daemon would need reason and would give him some milk of the poppy first.
@@JamaicaDiamond24 in Fire & Blood, the baby dies the next day in the cradle because it was too weak.
@@GabrielPintoMusic Poor thing but its full term right? Could it have been poison? Just a thought. I always felt like the maesters played apart in the Targaryen downfall. Not all maester but i bet there's a cult of them doing horrible things. call me crazy lol.
@@JamaicaDiamond24 F&B, is written like a history book that really ass-kisses the Targaryens. There's no mention of poisoning about Prince Balon. And yes, full term. It was not uncommon (though these days rare) for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome to happen during the medieval period. It's entirely possible that's what it was. (Though no mention of that either)
Otto Hightower sending Alicent to console the King was 100% nefarious. The line telling her to wear one of her mother’s dresses really shows that.
i threw up a bit in my mouth when he did that but that's what i should expect going into this show
Meanwhile "The Queen that never was" to her husband: Write that down, Write that down!
Agreed! It was even obvious when she asked, bravely (you could see she had to muster up the courage), "in his chambers?"
I'm glad that the parts of the show intended to disgust the audience seem to be doing so. Especially the minor-related segments. You can tell GRRM actually contributed to the show more so than just his name in the credits.
Yes, I was surprised he said it wasn't throwing her at the King. Even Alicent was like "in his chambers" alone, at night. And then he "suggests" she wear one of her mother's dresses...asking a child to wear an adult woman's clothing. Definitely some pimping action here. Whether he expects something long-term idk.
It seems like it was a waste of a prophetic dream if the horrible winter was just one night that ended with a small girl stabbing someone.
If you’ve read Fire and Blood the amount of exact things from the book is insane. That line about sheep is even directly from Daemon in the book 🔥
I picked up on that … show looks great
So I didn't read the books but I'm curious what you think about the casting and characters. I feel like there's a charm missing from the show but do you think that will take time?
@@mastrorj68 they nailed it tbh
@@mastrorj68 it took the original show half of the first season to even get interesting, most people who haven’t watched the full series credit that. HOTD looked to pull us in first, im sure the charm of characters plus new characters will come soon. we still haven’t seen so many people
George is also a show runner. They’ll be loyal to the books and I’m all in for it.
I loved the episode. Especially when ther speak high valyrian. I liked how the dragon keepers also speak valyrian. Thanks Charlie for your breakdown.
yeah!
Don’t forget the bev!
Yea we never saw Dany do that in G.O.T
Viserys talking about Aegon's dream "The Song of Ice and Fire" gave me chills.
Then I remember Episode 6 of the Last Season of Game of Thrones.
Didn't know GoT had a season 8. Must be in an alternate universe maybe...
@@jomancool55 It didn't. It ended on a cliffhanger with the ressurected dragon destroying the wall.
@@nicholasseitler4997 wdym? the final scene of game of thrones was daenerys sailing to westeros
@@lewis0705 Even better.
@@jomancool55 thank God it was an alternative universe. I was hoping my nightmare wasn’t real life.
I knew I was going to like the episode but the fact that they stayed so true to the source material while also giving it new life that the book doesn’t give to the characters was amazing. To top it all off it felt like it’s own thing but still felt very much like game of thrones instead of just trying to play off nostalgia like most things do now. Absolutely great scene with Viserys with the council after his wife died. Already love Daemon but figured I would going into it.
He spoiled everything!! WTF. I came for a review of the episode not for you to tell everything you read in the book!!
@@masdr2627 perhaps you should learn how to use the pause button, and watch other videos.
The fact that the night king was prophesied by King Aegon the conquerer was pretty mind blowing. I’m hooked on this from the jump.
Awesome!
I felt like they could’ve left that out since it now brings into question why it wasn’t documented earlier if it was a big deal. I don’t think the series needed it as a nod and then the dagger connection means nothing since it isn’t information that pops up in the series later in the timeline.
@@h3xu5 the original series flubbed it. I don't mind this retcon at all if that is what it is.
@@h3xu5 its obvious the secret passed down through Targaryen rulers, and due to the civil war, Rhaenyra did not have the chance or desire to tell the eventually sovereign of the Seven Kingdoms. That's why after the Dance of the Dragons, no one knew about the prophecy. We'll have to see if King Viserys tells anyone else before he dies if it's a plot hole or not.
@@h3xu5 I’d assume it’s to add a layer of tragedy to this story as well as to really put into perspective how much the mad king and roberts rebellion really screwed the 7 kingdoms future.
I love how this episode starts with Rhaenyra riding her dragon beautifully in joy and ends with Daemon riding his dragon as if into battle with rage. Well shot, and beautifully written. Love GoT!
Emma the adult Rhaenyra actress said Daemon and Rhaenyra are like two sides of same coin.
I just saw episode one and the only one riding the dragon was Rhaenyra. Where the heck did you see Daemon riding a dragon?? He touch his dragon but never did he ride on the dragon
You’re very confused

@@UtubeAdviser bruh the end of the episode
My favourite moment was the opening and the last sequence of Rhaenyra riding the dragon across the city and her being crowned as the heir. Absolute chills and goosebumps.
There is one more similarity :
GOT started with the death of Jon Arryn and House of the dragon started with the death of Aemma Arryn. Both of them belong to the same house and their death signifies the tragedy to come.
Just finished the episode, and it was fantastic. Had everything that made GOT great. Matt Smith killed it as Daemon. The dragons looked real good. So realistic. The Tournament was so raw and viscereal. Also, liked how they used it alongside Emma (RIP) giving birth. Was nice to see them try and do it from a woman's POV. King Viserys Targaryen made Rhaenyra Targaryen his daughter his heir out of love for her, but also in an effort to make up for Aemma his wife. Not to mention, loved it when they spoke valrian and the handlers. Great way to setup everything to come!
Morbin timee
That Aemma birth scene was hard to stomach. Gore never bothers me in the slightest, but that was a unique type of gore
@@RoshDroz same. It was the shrill in her voice. The pain. The uncertainty. And then the death. So intense. Legitimately had to mute it for a bit.
Parts of the tournament was realistic but they had some really phony looking crowds in the background stands
the 11tb doctor killed it as daemon
I loved the moment where everyone was pledging their loyalty to Rheanyra as heir to the throne. It felt so powerful yet sullen.
Did you see how the Baratheon lord hesitated before he made his vow and knelt before the princess? Also, did you see how the princess looked at him? That was great foreshadowing!!!
@@SteveChiverton, NO! Wow!
@@dionawilliams6594 since I’m the book he’s not gonna support her ( spoiler warning )

@@syndicalistcat3138, I do realize they were different rulers, but I still think it foreshadows the future relationship the princess will have with the House of Baratheon, especially when she calls for Baratheon support during the Dance of the Dragons. I also think it foreshadows the future cantankerous relationship between the Targaryens and the Baratheons in general. Just my thoughts.
I enjoy watching your videos. They’re fairly intelligent, well-made, and very informative. You must understand that Otto Hightower is most definitely throwing his daughter at the King while the King is widowed/available and very vulnerable at the moment to a nurturing, beautiful, (not to mention very young), woman with a sensitive healing touch. Hightower is most definitely hoping/planning for it to be his daughter (not someone else’s, because the King will remarry), that makes a connection with the king. Hightower knows that the woman who connects with the king especially at this moment has a high chance of becoming the king’s next wife and he wants it to be his daughter that becomes the next queen, the most powerful woman in the realm. Of course that also strengthens Hightower’s position and power in the realm. Not to mention that it will be his grandson who would be name named air to the throne. That is Hightower’s plan, not just doing the right thing to help the king through his grief. You must know this.
I totally agree!
I predicted that he would choose to have the baby over his wife, but I wasn't ready for what came after! That was straight up brutal. Welcome back GoT universe! We've missed you. Overall, this is a solid season /series opener with an excellent cast, great production values, and some soaring music. Can't wait for the rest of the season! 👍♥
My favorite part of the show is when Raenyra is about to have her dragon set fire to her mother's funeral pyer and you can almost see that the dragon understands how upset she is. It shows how connected they are.
I totally teared up when she said dracaris. It's such a deep word from Dany saying it all the time.
As if.
Agreed. The dragon seemed like "But that's YOUR MOM! I really don't want to do this, but if you insist."
It's nice to see someone else notice that emotion, that connection between dragon and rider.
The same hesitation she showed was evident from the dragon
Have you ever seen the dragon commanded to burn something so expected to find it's target like that? The pyre was one of many targets to burn but it knew exactly which by one word. Either they are smarter or the show's creators are stupider. The targets in GOT were always right in front of the dragon least it get confused.
I do believe Otto Hightower was trying to have his daughter seduce the king so she could get pregnant. He knew exactly what he was doing and it was very strategic and reminds me of Tywin Lannister. Also, during the tournament I noticed the Bolton’s sigil (flayed man) on one of the knights. I thought the Boltons was a fairly young house but that was nice to see.
I'm sure Viscerys eventually has kids with Otto's daughter
@@JCSams lol. No spoilers

Loved the episode. got so many chills with the introduction naming Daenerys, the reference to Aegon's dream and how she ultimately fulfilled his prophecy.
So far the pacing in the episode seemed just fine. I was able to learn who everyone was and who they were related to without getting confused. One little easter egg I really liked in the beginning of the episode was the new version of the “Dragon Stone” theme when Rheynera rides Syrax over King’s Landing.
My favourite part of the episode was when Daemon called the hand of the king a "c*nt!" I nearly spat my drink out

My favorite little thing they added in this episode was when they passed the town square where Ned lost his head there was blood on the stairs. Just the level of detail they go into in this shows how much they love the series and i am looking forward to this more than i was after seeing this episode!
Damn, this was one hell of a masterpiece of an episode. It feels so good to see Westeros in it's ultimate prime, although it still feels weird that we won't see this world like in Game of Thrones itself, where everything is in chaos and war while the end of the world is marching down...
I thought Otto Hightower sent in his daughter to see viserys on purpose so he can get his daughter on the throne and in power. I see him as a little finger type but we’ll see as the show goes on. Loved the first episode and can’t wait to see more dragons 🐉
Oh man that little finger comparison just made me reevaluate everything, I walked away from this episode one hundred percent on his side

Yeah- I think the question is what type of person will Miss Hightower be?
@@brinnyxtreme He most probably is to be a great arse. However, When Daemon wanted Alicent to give him wreath after winning, she was frightened looking at Otto.

Just finished the episode myself I am so thrilled. It was well done and a big eye opener seeing the dragons. I loved the first person view at the tourney amazing
I also liked the Tourney ❤💯
The tourney was awesome seeing the joist from the view of the rider .
Damn.. I'm going to have to watch and re- watch and watch again every single episode of this series. You spotted and picked out so many things I never even knew to be watching for. The "Easter eggs" you kept mentioning?...I didn't see any of those! As for the swords from other shows.. how the hell could you tell one melted sword from any other?? You ate a Black Belt of this show and I'm going to rely on you after every episode to tell me what I missed and should go back and watch again! Than you so much for your passion and commitment to these books and shows and series! I can't wait for next Sunday night. Oh and a lil bonus fir us here on the west coast. We don't have to wait until 9:00 pm because it's shown on the east coast at 9 and on the west coast it's on at 6:00. Bonus!!🤗🤗
Maester Aemon probably was given the info about the dream and became maester to help the night's watch fight white walkers. Maybe even that was the reason he didn't want to become king, because thought it was not important. He was really concerned about the white walkers and send the letters to all lords. And told Gilly to take little Sam far south before it's too late (in th show at least). Probably he was the only one aware of that dream prophecy at the time.
My favorite moment is when the king realized his decision cost him his wife and make her and it was all his fault. The pain and anguish was amazing.
It was either losing both or just her, but she was already doomed
This part sickened me!!!
Yes I loved that event. It had to be big to give him a strong incentive to choose a daughter as heir (besides his problematic brother). The event had to be bigger than the brother’s antics
@@dionawilliams6594 Me too, I hate how he didn't tell her anything. She was drugged up and dragged down the bed screaming for them to stop cause she was scared 😭 I was not ready

I loved the pilot!! Though I disagree so far that Rhaenyra is a Daenerys parallel. It might change later on, but as it seems, Daenerys was abused and underestimated at the start, whereas Rhaenyra is definetly ambitious, courtly and motivated by everyone around her. Rhaenyra seems more like an Arya/sansa mashup, in the way she is both self determined but also political. It'll be interesting to see how she turns out, especially after the time skip!
I totally agree I dont think she is a Dany parallel. Way more like arya
She is different than all of them. Danny was far more political than Arya / Sansa ever was.
She is nothing like Dany
she’s nothing like Daenerys. Like Max K above said, she’s more like Arya. I already like her, interesting personality. And how shocked she was when her father told her he was naming her the new heir and about the responsibilities she was going to have, like, “oh shit! I gotta do this???”
Yeah Rheanyra reminded me of Arya to. The way she was serving a important lord Viserys I/ Tywin and not wanting to be a lady but more of a soldier.
I loved the tip of the hat to the final season. The beginning with the girls who will destroy this dynasty, walking over the floor where Cersei had her map, then where Cersie & Jamie died, then onto where the Hound fought The mountain. Nice touch.
My favorite moment was probably right at the beginning with the title screen reading 172 years before Daenerys Targaryen. The entire episode was amazing though, and the "song of ice and fire" speech was incredible. The childbirth was horrifying, i was crying all through that
I hear so many complaining about it. My God, give it a chance. I liked it. The birth was brutal and sad.
Those who are complaining are usually miserable people. Most likely holding a grudge over GoT S8.
I thought it was awesome, and I’m picky. I’m traumatized from the birthing scene…but other than that, it lived up and did not disappoint
I liked it too. I thought it was really good.
I’ve seen positive things so far apart from a couple people who are hating on it and saying it’s not GoT because they have a black actor playing the husband of a Targeryon and that there’s too much woman power writing.
@@GurinderJohal Those are the casuals that don’t know Targaryen history and know the story of the dance of dragons
5:07. In the book GoT Ned Stark found the iron throne extremely comfortable even with a broken leg while he was the Hand... because he was meant to rule, even though he didn't want it.
Favourite moment was definitely the choice that Viserys Targaryen had to do between his wife Aemma and the potential heir, the "king for a day", Baelon....it was heartbreaking honestly. So much to loose both....Targaryens really are a bit mad
Thank you for this subject review. I don't even have internet, so this is the only way I can "kinda" keep tract of these shows. I love the in depth of your reviews. Thanx.

He is the author's (G.R.R.M) favourite Targaryen for reasons.
He was great, and the actor is doing an excellent job.
I totally agree, Matt Smith is a great actor he has such strong on screen presence
Agree
It was a little odd for me in the beginning to suddenly see the actor who also plays prince Phillip in The Crown on the throne with a platinum blonde wig on 🙈 But as soon as he was in that black horse with that suit on, he was indeed a character in Westeros for me. Also when the GoT score at the end started playing I low key cried because it brought me back to the show! How I missed it (the good seasons of course) and how I love that world!

This episode was more than I could've imagined.
Oddly enough my favorite part was Aemma's death. It was absolutely cruel and hard to watch, but a perfect representation of what's so scary and wrong with obsession with power.
He literally was willing to kill his wife for the 50/50 possiblity of having a son.
Well she said “Ain’t having no more kids.” So it was, dead wife and dead son or possibly a new son and dead wife. So pragmatic it is sound it’s just morally sterile.
I wouldn't place that on him. He was practically told she would die no matter what. He was simply willing to hasten her death for the possibility of saving the baby. I think this is on the maesters. They could have tried something like flipping the baby, possibly saving her but almost certainly killing him. But I don't think the idea of saving her ever entered their minds. It's like she foretold, her role came down to being little more than "a royal womb".
@@b.1162 at the very beginning of thr scene when Vicerys first walks in the Maesters told him the baby was in breach and all attempts at flipping the baby failed, so the Maesters did try that
@@danschmidt6206 I read that as all attempts at doing what they could without endangering the baby failed. We don't know if sacrificing the baby could have saved her but it was pretty obvious at that point her life had less value than a son.
I think the choice was to "sacrifice one or lose them both"...
Excellent recap, answered all my questions!
@emergencyawesome your Game of Thrones breakdown and Easter egg videos made the episodes so much better. Been watching your channel for years! Looking forward to many more years of videos/ breakdowns!
Favorite moment HAS to be the last sequence played out with “The prince who was promised” and Viserys holding the dagger while telling Rhaneyra about the Long Night
I just loved how realistic the tourney/childbirth scene was that it made me cry. There were two other scenes like the brutality of the City Watch and that's a characteristic of a great drama series for me.

The opening with Rhaenyra on syrax flying up through the clouds looked just like the moon shot from battle of winterfell .
The shot from street level as syrax flys overhead looked just like the street view right before Dany started touching kings landing
Favorite part was the mention of Aegon. It brought so many things together!!
Amazing episode. Viserys's speech to rhaenyra was amazing about Ageons reason for conquering the 7 kingdoms being because of the white walkers. Gave me goosebumps.
Love your vids! Disagree about Otto not meaning anything by sending his daughter to visit Viserys though. Him asking her to wear one of her mother’s dresses and making a point of her visiting his chambers at that time of night was a bit of a tell-tale to me.
100% agree. That was fully intended.
The daughter practically sidestepped his order by covering herself with a huge book. 🤔🤐
Otto is a creepy fucker imo, go see the grieving king and wear something titillating and be sure to bend over in front of him
Yes, my take was that Otto's first plan is still to get Rhaenyra on the throne (or at least keep Daemon off the throne), with his daughter Alicent as Rhaenyra's confidant/friend, but the backup plan is to have Alicent bear Viserys a male heir.
100%
My favorite moments were Daemon and Rhaenyra speaking High Valarian .. so beautiful..
So hyped to do this all over again. Thanks for still being here.
Any time!
And just like that HBO is back on top, lol. graphics, story, and actors are all top notch. I'm ready for this ride all over again.
It was a great episode 1!
@@emergencyawesome very much agreed
The first ride ended in epic disappointment though...
It was sooo much better than expected. Glad they took their time and didnt rush it out like so many other companies, (looking at you disney+). Now we play the waiting game for every sunday like last time.... 😀😭
They've been back on top Since Peacemaker.
I loved the relationship between Viserys and Aemma, sad ending. She doesn't have much of a part in the book so it was nice to see her personality. The terror and pain in Aemma's voice at the end, along with the begging her husband, was gut wrenching for me. I also loved Daemon, especially in the council meeting. I was concerned about Matt Smith playing him, but I think he's doing a good job. I can't wait to see more from Rhaenys and Corlys too. Haven't had an HBO subscription in a While but I signed up for HBOMax to watch this series. Can't wait to see more! #HOTD 🔥🐲
I think Matt smith is a super actor and is playing the part so well, he has great on screen presence. I loved him as DR Who
@@robanks3895 i keep seeing doctor who tho
Thank you and the Talking Throne channel for these break-downs. I am impressing my friends at work with my GOT knowledge.
you make me understand the episode and all the easter eggs so much better , love the content keep it coming my bro !
Favorite Moment: Grand Council opening scene at Harrenhal. No better way to capture the potential breadth and vast depth of the GOT world at this point.
The part where all the intervention for the birth was for naught and both the queen and the new prince died, it was sad, but the king’s reaction was so spot on
Your review is packed!!!! I love it!!! Thank you!!!
You’re just as much a part and as important for this world after I watch each episode. Appreciate it
Man
I loved the premiere. For some reason, the funeral scene sticks out for me - especially the interaction between Daemon and Rhaenyra. Also loved getting some High Valyrian dialogue scenes. :P
you can see how he truly feels about his family during that scene it was great.
Me too. Her saying Dracarys was great, for me
Actually the show runner's confirmed that there will be an intro scene. They decided to save it for next week. I can't wait to watch next week! I really would love to binge watch the whole series right now lol it's so good!!
So far so good. Love it. 👍🏼
I never realized till I watched the end credits how beautifu and haunting the theme song is.
Daemon instantly became my favorite character. Especially the scene where he called the king weak.
He is the author's (G.R.R.M) favourite Targaryne for reasons.
I agree. He is mesmerizing. A complex character. Ruthless, but not pure evil.
@@Teresa7087 exactly! People like Daemon are needed because they're the ones that'll get their hands dirty when its time to put in that work
When viserys exiled daemon he got cut meaning that he made the wrong decision here, and if daemon was named as his heir their house and dragons would not be weakened. Further proof coming from when daemon didn't get cut when he sat on the throne.
Exactly! People like Daemon are needed because they'll do whatever it takes to keep order restored
That is not what that means.
@@realest92 He's the exact people who destroy order. Maimings in the street is the opposite of order.
@@regdwight3115 Yeah its not that Daemon would keep the order but he would keep the Targareyens united, and as long as they are united they can’t fall
@@sanjitsrinivasaiah860 That's not true at all. His cousin is already scheming against him.
I love it so far, plus all the history is great!
There was definitely prosperity during Jahearys’ reign but also handful of wars and conflicts, like how his son and heir was killed. Also, the Vulture King conflict. Jahearys’ story is fascinating.
I disagree Otto Hightower knows exactly what he is doing, asking his daughter to go visit the King “He will appreciate your attentions”. 🤨
This episode was so exciting. So glad to see the return of GoT. I was waiting to hear Rhaenyra say “dracarys.” Very interesting how she was made heir. PS I got the feeling Daemon’s arranged wife wasn’t pretty and he wanted no part of her. 😅
Daemon didn’t lose he turned his back… It actually showed Daemon was a much better fighter .. It also showed Daemon was a show off
favorite moment was the dragon pit from view where cersei saw the step being burn
down the old and new view was great
daemon’s dragon reveal was nuts… it aesthetically matches his talent for carnage
Very snake like!
@@invalidusername883 I said the samething his dragon is more snake like than dragon foreshadowing his deceitfulness
I LOVE this episode! I think it is a very effective series premiere. Linear story telling at good pace; very distinctive characters whose names / personalities, relationships are reinforced throughout the episode; handsome dragons; major conflicts are recognizable in modern terms, and are explained and re-explained; cool action sequences (even if bloody); didn't go overboard with the nudity or the gore; good colours / brightness / contrast of the actual episode. I saw it with my mom and she by and large followed all of it no problem. Love all the easter eggs!! This is great first impression and we look forward to more!
The montage explaining Aegon's dream was just perfect. Reminded me of Sam explaining to Jon about his ancestors.
My favorite moment was the mention of the Song of Ice and Fire and of course, when the theme music played at the end of the episode!
I think my favorite part was seeing the princess (sorry, having trouble remembering all of the names and their spelling) riding the dragon and spending time with her friend. It seemed like a final moment of peace before the chaos begins. thanks Charlie!
Yep :)
Overall I loved the premiere. It was so great getting back in to the world of Westeros and to see some of those landmarks we'd come to know in the main series. I did not know that dome thing was the dragon pit. Thanks for that Charlie. I have to say though the chill-inducing part had to be the reprise of the "Game of Thrones" theme sung in the choral. Major chills with that. Thanks for your breakdown again Charlie. Looking forward to more.
Mysaria has one of the most intense scenes but I liked it most it had me getting more interested in her character. They didn't properly set everything up if you ask me but but she did a really good job I think. She had a grace that made me really see her as royal even though she isnt compared most royals flaunting power or just being princesses. It made me understand the desires for her to be in a key position to be an information broker. I really hope we see her more like you said. Daemon aggressiveness wasn't exactly set up really to my liking making me wonder "are these people really criminals hes basically butchering?". They seen really innocent minding there own business. His actions came off seeming really obscene and cruel. So what came next made total sense but left me asking why people liked him at all in flea bottom or in general. The show has a little bit of a gonzo feel in terms of its condensed presentation but I did enjoy listening to Mysaria speak.
My favorite part of the episode is definitely the inclusion of the Targaryen/Valyrian customs and people. I also really like how they are involving a lot of the histories from Fire and Blood. I watched the episode and immediately though of all your videos just educating us on the histories of Westeros. My only fear is that they have already departured from some information (i think) from the book(s). Please let us know comparisons from book to show!
Favourite parts of this episode are the very beginning up to when Rhaenyra meets her father and the council and from the moment Viserys meets her at Balerion's shrine until the end. Hard to pick between the 2. A really great episode. I doubt too many others will be this GREAT. Good but not at this level, is what I expect.
i love the way the did Criston vs Daemon, they made Criston win but not many lose .. Daemon didnt lose coz he lacked skill or wasn't a good fighter but coz he foolishly indulged in showboating before finishing the fight.. Great writing
Yes it shows that he is looking for the approval of people
Agreed despite that he could easily win he was to boastful
I guess the fool didn't watch the mountain vs the viper fight/episode otherwise he would learnt from it 😂😂
I really enjoy the first episode because it’s all new people in this show. Names we may have heard, but too far back to have anyone from GOT on the mix. Excited for your breakdowns as we go through the seasons. Thank you as always Charlie 😃
This show was actually better then I thought
My favorite moment is the emotion Rhaenyra shows when she lights her mother’s pyre.
My favourite moment is when Rhaenyra said Dracarys!
Matt Smith brings the GOLD, World got to see the pure raw talent of Matt finally. His performance Sunday with Dameon was set the moment eyes feel upon him ALREADY sitting on the Iron Throne. Matt is a rare gem of acting his passionate portrayal makes you want more, he can take any dull scene and turn it on its heel. To many he's only known for two projects Doctor Who and the Crown yet the man has been in countless artistic indi films in which he outshines all of his fellow actors. Its a pure delight for the WORLD to finally see what i've known about the man since his first days on Doctor Who. He can be sweet, silly, charming and so very kind only to turn into a total raging mad man in less than a blink of an eye keeping you on your toes and guessing his true intentions. I'm a little sad we did not get to hear one of his FAMOUS speeches, in the "Pleasure House" he speaks only to be interrupted by Hightower which I'm sure he is taking it out of context to make Dameon seem worse than he perhaps really was in the scene, do hope we get a chance to see/hear what really happened. So hope the next 9 episodes of this show allows EVERYONE to fall in love and really get to know the full talent of this extraordinary actor. The Doctor is now a mad man riding a Dragon let the fun begin!!!
Loved the combination of dragon keepers/aircraft dudes guiding them in
