      Thank you! Great that you called this video the best. I especially made the video because the house is more beautiful than it looks on the first sight. From the outside it looks a bit like a sea container but from the inside it has many amazing perspectives because its very transparent. The most upcoming videos will about John Lautner, but I will combine them with videos about the designs by F.L Wright, Neutra and other Case Study Houses. Till the next episode!

    Thank you for the great video. When viewing these famous houses, I always try to imagine living in them. Often, what looks great in photos, might not be very livable. For example, I would want more privacy than this house affords. Yet, blinds, curtains, and interior doors would ruin the aesthetic. For me, the best houses are both architecturally stunning, but practical to live in too.

    • @SuperJobbel
      @SuperJobbel  5 місяців тому +1

      Yes, that's true. Beauty and comfort doesn't go hand in hand together. Some architectural masterpieces are also known for there problems: the Farnsworth House is known for leaking being to cold, while Fallingwater is difficult and expensive to maintain. I think however that most John Lautner are very comfortable and very nice to live in.

    @5:24 you did a really good job on the research. Where were you able to find it? What is the difference between the an I beam and H beam?

    • @SuperJobbel
      @SuperJobbel  8 місяців тому +1

      Thank you! great that you liked the videos. I most of the drawings myself, but sometimes I uses drawings that I've founded on the internet. To answer your question: H beams are stronger and heavier, I beams are weaker but more lightweight. Because they are stronger H beams are for placing in the ground, vertical use and to bare the construction. Because they weight lesser I beams are better to be placed horizontal over the H beams. Both beams are named so because they resemble the letter H and I respectively ( seen when cuthrough) .

      Great that you liked the video. I know that the house is currently under reconstruction, but honestly I don't know if the house will be open for public. I had the privilege to visit the house back 2015 and many (but by far not all) of the pictures were by me back then. But that visit was already 9 years ago and the house has now new owners and I have no contact with them. Case Study House #22 and CSH #8 are the only two that are permanently open for public, so they are easy to visit. Other CSH designs are still privatly owned but on rare ocassions they go open for public.

      Yes, I agree with you: If I would own the house, I would place two glass doors in front of each the bedrooms. Still though, in the hot californian climate it's not necessary to close off a bedroom for heating purposes, but it makes the bedrooms more private when they have a door. Jop, again a great video. I like all the John Lautner houses, but this Bailey House is very appealing in that the simplicity and lack of ornament actually make the beauty. Hello Jop, thank you for all your brilliant videos. I want to know wether the steel roof is only on piece or an upper and a lower steel structure with some insulation between it. If it is only on peace of steel it would be very hot beneath and very loud when it’s raining….I know that because my garage has such structured steel roof . Remember that famous song …
    “Seems it never rains in southern California

      Hey @fredericfein8284 ! great that you liked the video. It took me a while to figure it out and to answer your question, so a little late reaction: but Yes! there is insulation between to layer of roof plates. Partly to protect the inside against extreem heat but also, indeed, against the loud sound on those rare occassions when it rains in s. california. Both the lower part and upper part of the roof are made of steel, but there is isolation material and airspace between the two layers. I never heard of the song you mentioned in your reaction, haha!
