Money spent on the Rafale M is a complete waste. While IAF Rafales will be critical in any battle, Navy Rafale Ms will just sit out the battle completely. There is zero probability of them being of any consequence against China, and almost zero against Pak if they embark the carrier.

I’m Indian and support bjp but if it’s true that Dassault aviation is robbing us in plain sight than we don’t need opposition to to oppose rafale we need every citizens voice. Hazaro crore ped pe nai ugthe or kisike baap ke bhi nai hothe.
Better to fully finance TEDBF and fully subsidize the program so private players come in and we can expedite the development rather than import lobby’s and mafias looking to make more of our tax money.
if IAF & NAVY had clubbed their MRFA+TEDBF requirements earlier by doing parallel development of twin engine fighter jet along with LCA Tejas, then we wouldn't have to face such trouble. This clearly shows lack of vision. When LCA Tejas was under development in early 2000s' the defense forces & MOD didn't focus on any other programs, that's why we're facing so much problems from every direction😮💨
If the Rafael m is costly we should go with Tejas naval version
India should focus on a Twin Engine Tejas Mk 2 (or TEDBF) instead of Rafale M. Given that we have designs for Tejas Mk2 single engine and a design for AMCA we can make the Twin Engine Tejas MK2 really fast. It will serve all naval needs. The same can be used for an Indian Growler and other Air Superiority needs. Think about it. The cost will be very less, the engines could be the GE 414 and avionics+armaments all Indigenous.
I have been wondering how defence sector would wind up if modi loses the election. Last 5 to 7 years were some of the best for defence companies.
If Rafael is for 5Bil Eur then better to opt for American F35.

I guess now local fighters are only option for IAF. IAF need to operate Mig-29, Mirage-2000 and Jaguar till the induction and maturity of Tejas mk2. At-least one more decade I guess i.e till 2033-35.

Cherry on top - Hal has been awarded for SUPER SUKHOI upgrade. It will be finished before 2050 NEW YEAR.( I HOPE😅 ).

People lacking knowledge on topics should n o t comment on them. F16 was developed in 14 years. Rafael was developed in 15 years... and so was Tejas aircraft. This despite India investing not even fraction of what developed countries invest in their programs and India not having necessary infrastructure and prior experience...

Modi cancelled the Rafael deal because it was (a) unaffordable and (b) did not give India the technology that would be worth the price. Those that would be happy with the deal do not want Aatmanirbharta.

Indian private sector in defence has outsmarted bogus decades of experience which HAL projects to posess. Some tech are so adept that even Israel is buying these drones.

Our DRDO and HAL are not upto the mark after these many years. Smaller countries like Turkish and south Korea made their 5th aircraft generation but still we are nowhere.
We need to make lots of changes to make them more efficient, I believe as the government comes with a plan and will implement the new changes in the next few months.

Turkey and South Korea haven't made anything... KF-21 is being made with tech transfer from Lockheed Martin. Turkey also got F35 Fuselage tech from US before being removed from program.

Rafale M are in a way different plane than Rafale C which IAF uses. there is 70% commonality in Engine, avionics etc, but Rafale M has stronger & heavier airframe & landing gear for carrier uses. So Rafale M should be slightly expensive than Rafale C, but having said that. India & France already have agreement to ensure 75% availability for Rafale C, that could be extended to Rafale M also, as its to ensure that spares etc are available, most of which are being manufactured in India. Also Indian Navy may not have to order extra weapons as Indian weapons would be integrated on the Rafale. I dont think the cost is 4.8 Bn, but would be far less, if the cost is touted to be 4.8 billion then there is good chance that either Rafale M would be made in India & hence production line has to be built in India & thus also allowing Dassault to not only complete Indian order but also part of its order book, else if the nego fails then IN will go for F/A-18 E/F.
Whichever party comes should buy both mrfa and navy packages to reduce the overall perhead cost of rafale
DRDO should use the young talents from IIT KANPUR, IIT CHENNAI etc. recently IIT CHENNAI guys have successfully Launched 3D Printed Rocket with Semi cryogenic fuel engine into the Space. Army, IAF, NAVY should bring young talents in to their arms, so that India can develop latest weapons/fighter jets engines/night& Fog vision system, etc, not depending on USA, Europe, Russia etc.
Go for the F/A-18. It’s good enough both for the IAF and IN. It shares the same engine with Tejas Mk2. It integrates well with P-8s and other U.S. origin systems operated by IN and other Quad member states. More importantly it’s readily available and and a low cost of ownership.
France always charge too much. Cancel the deal if France doesn't lower the price and buy more mig29k and fast-track the TEDBF.

Should have just gone with the F-18 Super Hornet, india would have been finishing the manufacturing plant shortly from today and would be producing this powerful aircraft carriers multi role fighter by years end and putting them into the fleet by mid 2025 with the transfer of manufacturing and technology infrastructure and information…. Maybe time to reconsider this before it’s too late !!
And the F-15EX for a part of the MRFA as well even if it’s just a 1/3rd of the package and get the ball rolling on this mission

Rafale offered price is very high. So go for Typhoon for Air Force and some Mig29 for Navy. TEDBF programe should also be geared up

India is way ahead of reports coming in public about defence preparedness
New government after taking oath needs to focus on Air force & Naval Modernisation over the next 5 years.
Once theatre commands kick in the role of Airforce and Navy will become even more important. Any potential attack via land would require full support via Airforce & Navy for which they need to hold an edge over adversaries.
Also, needs to ensure reforms in DRDO and most importantly Defence Acquisition goes through and is implemented based on recommendations.

Can't IAF upgrade to AL41 engines. Anyways they are purchasing the engines. So the delta might not be so much with AL41. Heck they should also try negotiating about putting in the AL51
