Estoy trabajando en una datsun 620 y estaba a un pazo de llevarla para que me la restauren pero al mirar tus videos me arrepenti me demuestras que si se puede ¡lo hare yo mismo! Gracias y felicidades
Cheers!! I hope to keep it that way as more things move in too. I'll try hide some of the ignition stuff (like the resistor), and the battery is defs not going back into the bay :D
@@32Builds I have a 1976 Toyota Corolla ke36 and I have already started to restore the engine, you gave me some good ideas on how to paint the engine, I hope that in the very near future I can have the car completely restored. I hope to see your next video. Greetings
From watching that engine be stripped down to you starting it up! you inspired me to embrace an old corrolla 4ac ae82 and get it back on the rd, just got rego a few days ago... now for the good stuff :) oh yer the neighbours must love ya lol...
Congrats on the startup. Before you explained the rattling noise, I was certain the starter didn't disengage - like it didn't on my 1st startup on an A12 recently. Keep up the good work and may you (and I both) have zero troubles on all future old NPT plugs. 👍
@@32Builds I'm anxious to better hear how your exhaust sounds. Unfortunately, with the whatever aftermarket muffler is on it, my A12 sounds like a fork lift or my grandpa's old Ford 8N tractor. I'll change that before I get it on the road. May I know what muffler you are using and if you are pleased with the sound?
amazing job mate! I'm in love with what you've done in the engine bay, it looks amazing. I'm planning on rebuilding my 1200 Ute again soon and chucking a snail on and these videos are my solely motivating factor. I love watching these videos and cant wait to see it Rego'd and rolling!
Thanks so much Lachy! I can't wait as well! I'll eventually figure out new carbys for it then maybe I'll toy with the idea of putting a blower on it :)
Good thing those gearboxes are easy to remove and refit on stands... I did it to mine a year ago, when a previous repair failed (before me, a bolt wasn't torqued and disengaged the selector, I lost 1-2-R, and 3-4 were accessible only where 1-2 should have been...) in the freezing temps of this time of year in North Northern hemisphere. My reverse switch took it badly though, I just had it replaced last week after much procrastination (and access to a hoist).
@@32Builds I don't know if you're already thinking ahead (probably) to audio, I have a short clip on my channel of where I hid my FM/MP3 radio (no CD means the unit can be much smaller) in my Sunny earlier this year. I could not bring myself to cut the original dash in an all original car. It's far from pristine, it's a working ute, but it is still original.
geeez that little transmission bolt was stubborn !! Happy you got it in the end . I would have gone nuts on the bolt haha . that bonnet almost killed you as well . :o there is probably excess some due to over filling the engine with oil as it was filled up when the motor was cold . so glad to see your truck one Big step closer to being finished . congrats .
Yeah, things don't always go so smoothly - I think I spent a week on that transmission bolt 🤣 Lucky this car is made of paper and the bonnet is light enough to not crack my skull open. Can't even imagine newer cars!! I'm regularly checking the dip stick and the level seems fine every time I check - even while its warming up! Cheers for commenting!
I think you want to replace that driveshaft. Some butcher has bodge welded the uni in place rather than the press fit or the circlips. Also be wary using a heavy and lumpy underbody paint on it for the same reason it is balanced accurately. Great series really, you need way more views and subscribers! Really professionally done! Also how many complaints do you have from the neighbours in the carpark? Oh one more, where did you get that over car tool storage system?
Thank you so much! Cheers for the comment on the drive shaft, thought it was the way they came. I will get it balanced again in the future :) No complaints, everyone has been super friendly to me so far but I try to be as respectful as possible as well. No noise and welding when someone comes to get their car :)
@@32Builds I'd just get another shaft, don't bother messing with one thats been welded. Do that when the CA18DET goes in! Be careful with the smoke too, don't set off the fire alarms in the building!
Missing the wire on the valve on the carburetor. Can´t run smooth at idle. The valve is there but the wire is cut .Need to be connect to ignition to open the valve. That valve is part off the engine shutdown. Earlier Datsun´s 1200 or Sunny´s carburetor don´t have that valve but recent model´s have and that carburetor come whit that valve .Nice work by the way
Might be my issue as well, I've got the last gen, a GB122 that, once warm and the auto choke shuts, will rattle the stuff in my glove box off. A tiny bit of revs will calm it, and my idle adjuster is already all the way open...
Hello thanks for trying to help me with my idle. I looked into it and that valve is actually controlled by coolant temperature and controls the amount of vacuum advance for the carburetor. Not sure which other countries had it, but it was part of the emissions gear in Australian 1200s. I remember the motor was running fine when I bought the car and it wasn't connected from there. Otherwise I need to figure out how to open it and put the wires back in if it becomes an issue in the future. Also my car has manual choke. I ended up screwing the idle screw a tiny bit which helped (it was all the way backed out)., but I know its not good to rely on it to get it running good :)
Really like your videos, bro... You from SA? I also have a nissan 1400 but mine is literally a shit box😂 would like to know where you mostly buy your parts from cause mine needs a few replacements
Hey mate! Thanks, I'm from nsw. Theres a couple shops here that have parts, and a couple in qld too! They all have eBay accounts though so its easy to get em from there :)
could i ask what kind of carburetor and air filter you have :)? i have a datsun 200sx and am looking for a small carb like that to fit on my intake manifold
Hello, I love the job. I am working on a datsun j18 engine. Does anyone know where I can get the silicone tubes for the cooling system? like the ones in the video
Thank you for the offer! I'm thinking of going with something higher amperage, and single wire in design. I want to run extra electricals like audio and alarm down the line so it might get much for the little 30amp stocky
Belleza pero sería mejor si el vídeo tuviera subtítulos en español o quizás fuera doblado al español ya que desde latinoamerica también habemos amantes a los Datsun ♥️
Finally She started..Every Man's Dream👍👍👍
Now I've just got to get it moving under its own power!
The bonnet falling down multiple times crack me up🤣🤣
She’s alive! she’s alive! Job well done mate. Great to see the engine finally in and running. 👍🏻
You must protect your shaft mate, learned that the hard way..awesome work
Cheers bro 😉😉
No shame in polishing the shaft prior to insertion👍
Congrats mate! The build has already come a really long way. Gl with the rest!
Thank you!! Lots more to go, lots more to come :) Cheers!
MILE STONE! So cool to see her come together
Thank you so much! I get so excited every step of the way 😁

Grooovy to see the start up
That coolant filter where did yo buy it
I got the filter from china on eBay! Plus some various 1" silicone bends to plumb it up

I'm glad you found the bit funny! I had so much footage of me just trying to get the bolt off I had to do something about it 😂😂😂
I ended up ordering a GM 3 wire alternator that has higher amps than stock and it works great.
I'm thinking of getting a shiny single wire alternator and making a bracket up myself for it :) We'll see in the future!

hay mate, where did you get that front splitter from? I've been chasing one forever!
I got it off eBay from everspring sports! Shipped from Malaysia :)
Nice work. What condition is the fuel tank in? That might be a reason why it dies after a few minutes. Unless you've made sure it has good flow?
He was pulling fuel out of a clean plastic bottle on the floor of the truck.
Hey what's the red thing you used to mock up the fuel line rout? Good job as always btw

Starting that motor up in an poorly ventilated basement ain't a good idea. Carbon monoxide gas and all that.
We've got a proper vent system but its really hit or miss when it decides to fire up. Don't worry - it didn't stay like that for long 😊
Amazing job
