- Kate Mitchell's practice is performance based, and explores the relationship of art and life through experiments involving manual labour, duration and everyday gestures. Often using humour and absurdity, Mitchell creates strange and wonderful situations that test the physical limits of the body and the mind.

NEW is the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art's prestigious annual commissions exhibition.
Once again generously supported and presented by the Balnaves Foundation, the 2012 installment has been selected by guest curator Jeff Khan, co-Director of Sydney's Performance Space.
It features major new works from his choice of Australia's most interesting rising artists - Katie Lee (VIC), Ross Manning (QLD), Angelica Mesiti (NSW), Bennett Miller (WA), Kate Mitchell (NSW) and Charlie Sofo (VIC)
