Cory you perfectly described what a panic attack feels like. Most people confuse panic attack with general anxiety. I have suffered with panic disorder for years and have attacks sometimes multiple times a month. It is one of the most terrifying feeling you can go through. I am sorry you experienced them too. I hope that you have them less now since your surgery has corrected the horrible symptoms you were having.

Chronic appendicitis. I was getting sick daily at work. Having dizzy spells, unable to climb without gasping for air and almost passing out. Pain I thought was my back that was debilitating. All gone now after going to ER 2 weeks ago, getting admitted and removing the appendix. This went on for years as long as I can remember. Never thought I would feel normal again. It's like being reborn.

This happened to me, please keep it in mind. Short version. I was at the point of appendix bursting also, but all my pain was on the left side. When they removed it, it was behind my colon and pointed to my left. Also I had a tumor inside it which is quite rare. So if ever your children complain of pain in the left side I hope this comes to mind.

Thank you for bringing awareness to appendicitis! People do not take it nearly seriously enough, I know I didn't until it impacted me. In August 2017 my appendix nearly killed me. Mine, apparently, had been leaking for weeks or months, which apparently can happen, which is terrifying. It was considered a rupture, but it was more like a small pinprick where stuff was just slowly dripping out of it. In December 2016 I started having what was diagnosed as UTI's, which was odd because I was never really prone to them beforehand. The antibiotics they gave me seemed to help until the next supposed round of UTI. Turns out it was my appendix being misdiagnosed and the antibiotics just barely keeping the infection under control, but I always felt a little off between antibiotic treatments. By the time it was properly diagnosed the situation was critical. Within 20 minutes of the diagnosis being confirmed they had me back in the OR. I was in the hospital 5 days after surgery, then an additional 7 days after I spiked a 104-degree fever because oral antibiotics weren't enough to fight the infection, and 3 weeks at home with a PICC line in my arm doing 3 rounds of antibiotic and antifungal IV treatments a day to clear the infection from my body. Here is what I learned from my experience: 1) appendicitis can be easily misdiagnosed, so if you feel your doctor is misdiagnosing you, fight them on it 2) if your mom insists something is seriously wrong, don't doubt that motherly intuition, get your butt to the nearest ER immediately, my mom forcibly dragging me to the ER saved my life 3) appendicitis is way under talked about for something that can so easily kill a person in a short span of time. Thank you, again, for using your platform to spread awareness!

I had the same surgery(laparoscopic) with my gall bladder removal. Another one that has a function, but isn't really necessary to keep and can kill you if left to it's own devices after it goes awry. Mine almost did me in, I was 24 hours from not being around anymore. When it's your own mortality on the line, it get's you thinking. I'm SUUUPER glad you are OK. I just went through this in September actually. I also thought it was literally just gas, or that I was constipated. I took laxatives, and waited a week until I could barely walk because I was in so much pain. Literally went to work the day before my boyfriend *dragged* me to the hospital. Ran a few tests, and yep, confirmed appendicitis. My appendix was THREE TIMES the size it should have been. A whopping 16 cm. It was close to bursting. Had to wait a weekend in the hospital on IV antibiotics before I had it removed via surgery. It was the most excruciating, horrible pain I have ever experienced.

I have this same IBS issue, recently diagnosed. The doc said, "it's probably IBS, watch what you eat and take metamucil." I can't eat anything which only started up about 3 years ago. I don't go to dinner parties unless it's like 30 people so I can duck out without anyone noticing. I get pain in my gut usually upon wakening that makes me curl up and doesn't go away until I get up and move around. Not every morning though. And I have gas pain on my right side every so often so I lay on my stomach until it goes away. So this is eye opening and I'm glad you're ok, and I will for sure pay attention to my body.

If your appendix has already ruptured the surgery is way different. In 2004 mine ruptured because I just thought I had stomach flu. I’m lucky to be alive. I had to be cut wide open vertically from my bikini line to just a few inches below my breast bone. I have one horrible scar now. I’m glad yours didn’t rupture and I’m glad your problems are finally over!

Thanks for sharing. My dad was born in 1928. When he was 14 his appendix finally almost burst and he had to be rushed to the hospital. The bridge was out due to flooding so the core of engineers had to take him by boat across the Missouri River. He could have died that night. Thankfully his life was saved. He told me that up to that point he had episodes of pain that would come and go.

I got my appendix removed 2 years ago. Had the same struggles over yeaaaars and my appendix actually had scar tissue. After removing it my stomach were so good for a while! But after a few months im just as lactose intolerant as before. The extreme pain that litteraly had me screaming is gone, but I still get bad pain at times. I sometimes get phantom pains where it used to be. Its kind of weird, but they don't hurt, theyre just.. weird. Haha. Im glad you feel so much better, I hope stays good forever. :) Stomach pain is no joke!

I think it's crazy that for your entire youtube career this has been a thing! You've said so many times about how you are lactose intolerant and its scary to think that was your appendix! I remember you doing the ghost chilli challenge with some other youtubers/friends on SMPFilms back in 2011 and you saying then that you would pay for it later with the amount of milk you drank!
I'm so glad you are on the mend and have finally found why you've had all this pain.
Funnily enough only a few weeks ago I read something claiming that appendices issues/appendix removal (forget which) can lead to lactose intolerance and scientists were investigating it.

I'm glad you're better, and that you care enough to be bothered by some possible (in the right situations) bad advice from years ago that is literally no longer online anyway.
Pretty sure plenty of people have never seen that video (I don't think i ever did) and might have discovered that technique all on their own as well. We do some dumb stuff when it pain with the chance it may help. I've seen people break bones in their hand punching a wall to divert the pain from one spot to somewhere else for an hour. It was their choice to do it.
I don't think it would have been your fault if something had gone wrong. I imagine what was going on with you was a bit more rare than a regular appendicitis...I've always hear if you put pressure on the painful area and it doesn't hurt until you remove it, that that is appendicitis symptoms. If you were pushing that into a counter and you weren't knocked off your feet in pain when you stepped back, it seems whatever was going on with you was a bit atypical.
Yes we should listen to our bodies more and get help a lot faster than we do (I'm in Canada so its free and still put off going lol) and not rely so much on google and youtube for actual medical help, but you didn't have bad intentions (and there are plenty out there who do).
I may have even tried something similar once during a bout of gallbladder attacks, and like I said, I don't think I saw the vid in question.
    Missed the videos.

Ignored it for years, like you, partly for insurance reasons and then once I got insurance I ignored the pain because it eventually(and I say that loosely) would subside. Finally after gallstones had apparently gotten huge, the pain was unbearable and I was given emergency surgery. It’s was gallstone attacks the whole time!

It’s horrifying to think of what could have happened to you, Cory. Thank goodness you’ve finally had that appendix removed! I used to suffer a lot from abdominal pain but I had my gallbladder removed about five years ago. That’s both good and bad, though. Without the gallbladder to regulate the bile going into my digestive tract, the liver just produces bile constantly. That causes tons of symptoms just like IBS. It’s miserable. I’ve managed to control it a bit by having a high fiber breakfast every day - either oatmeal or Raisin Bran. I hope you continue to feel loads better! (Also, I think you look so good going grey.)

It's amazing how the human body will adapt to chronic pain if we have it for a long time. Pain in the body is almost always due to some sort of inflammation. Your appendix was apparently inflamed to various degrees over the years. Inflammation can cause symptoms to appear quickly, which could be why you'd feel sick so soon after eating. I remember meeting you here in Columbus, OH on the 2012 road trip. We ate at the Spaghetti Warehouse. I can only imagine how that very delicious (but very Italian) food made you feel that night. Glad you're on the mend, brother!

Wow, that’s crazy. I’m so glad they figured out what was causing the pain. It’s odd that we fill out forms and talk to doctors and we learn to accept an unacceptable amount of pain because we start to feel that if the doctor doesn’t think it’s a big deal than I shouldn’t think it’s a big deal. I’m gonna see a gastroenterologist and see what he says. I’ve had colonoscopies and nothing ever came up. Thanks for sharing your story Cory and glad you’re feeling better.

At the time of this comment, I am 29. At age 7, I had my appendix removed. Unfortunately, I could only remember the day where I went to the hospital. That writhing pain that you describe was something I dealt with off and on all day until my mom caved in and took me to the hospital. I remember having these painful moments of just laying down and squirming in complete agony and feeling as if my insides were being ripped out. It wasn't until just before I was going into the Operation Room that I looked over at my mother and just told her that the pain completely stopped. They put me on immediate priority because it was at that time, my appendix had ruptured. I had to stay in the hospital for a few extra weeks and they would not let me go home until I had pooped to insure my digestive system was still working.
I was seven years old, in the hospital. I remember there being a game room near by room that they let me walk to and play the N64, connect 4, or other board games with the other kids there. I remember walking down the hallway, while bent over because it hurt too much to stand straight. I was even pulling my IV drip pole myself because I wanted to be nice to the nurses who were nice to me. I remember being happy to go home, but dreading them taking the tape off my arm from the IV drip. I remember having to redress my still open entry point at home. I can still taste the medicine I was taking and how terrible it tasted. It is amazing how easily I can remember all of this.
Last year, my niece had the same operation done. She has three very small holes in her belly where they could remove her appendix. I compared it with my incision from 22 years ago located just above my right hip mere inches from my belly button. How much I have grown and how much technology has developed over the passage of time.

I’m so glad you’re ok. This stuff you’re describing does sound like the IBS that’s the doctor diagnosed me with. Except I don’t have 10/10 pain but I do have constant pain and discomfort when I eat. Thank you for the information! I really miss your face dude it’s been good to see you around 🖖

My personal panic attack was unique and may apply to some people. I believe my panic attack was my soul trying to tell me to change my direction in life. Right in the middle of my panic attack I quit my waitressing job on the phone with the manager of my restaurant. I apologized my head off for not giving any notice. And my whole life has been better ever since. I went from living paycheck to paycheck to having an actual career, financial stability, getting out of debt, even losing weight and much better self-esteem.

My husband was the same way, 10 months of pain, could not eat much of anything, pain unless he was laying down. He lost weight and muscle mass. We ended up in the Doctors offices more than 5-6 times and no one could give us an answer. Until we ended up in the ER, his White blood cells where so high they Ultrasounded his abdomen and his Appendix was to the point of exploding. We came in just in time. Best thing that ever happened to him. he is so much better! Glad you finally got rid of your pain!! Healing will be quick! if you cough or sneeze place a pillow on the abdomen to help with the pain from the muscle contraction.

I remember my JHS teacher was a doctor in the Vietnam war and then became a science teacher. He said appendices goes bad because of bad food or junk food. He's right because my cousin ate anything and had his appendix removed but I'm way older than him and never had problems with my appendix. Glad your still around stay healthy eat healthy. Get in the habit of eating lots of fruits.

This is why I am a believer about being an advocate for your own health. Doctors may get upset, but it doesn’t matter. Get that 2nd, 3rd, 10th opinion. My daughter had prolonged appendicitis. The doctors said it was constipation for FIVE YEARS. Guess what? A common symptoms of appendicitis IS constipation/hurting to poop. She finally got it out, after it almost burst, and it was a night and day difference. So glad you got the help you TRULY needed! 👏🏻

Glad you are better! I had chronic appendicitis for about 3 years and nothing showed up on CT scan. It was only when I had an exploratory surgery and they took out the appendix and sent it to pathology did it show chronic appendicitis with a fecolith. It’s some crazy stuff!

I've been dealing with chronic appendicitis since 2012 ☹I'm currently dealing with it flaring up again and it is showing more signs then it has in the past, but not enough for them to take it out yet 😭

Been there. My attacks occurred when I was 12. This was back in 1965 when the diagnosis of IBS didn't exist. My doctor at the time thought I was faking. Doctor wondered if I had an ulcer, so recommended I drink ice cream shakes which was the standard "cure" back then. Didn't realize I was lactose intolerant, so ice cream made it worse. Finally they took out my appendix, and most of the symptoms disappeared. Am still lactose intolerant, so I know if I eat pizza then the bathroom and I become best friends.
So glad you are feeling so much better.

I've had them (panic attacks), and it's horrible! You'll just feel like you're going to die, like Cory said. It's horrible, and I wouldn't wish it on anyone, but I haven't had one in a long time, thank goodness! I'm glad your survived your appendicitis ordeal, Cory You're a nice guy, and (we) want you around for a long time. You should have listened to your mother sooner, I.M.O.
