David Harvey gives us a Masterclass on this magnificent Satinwood Chest of Drawers
Thanks for posting. Awesome. 🇦🇺
So glad you like this chest. It is even better in real life! David Harvey
Exquisite. What I love about Georgian bow front chests is not just their "sublime" beauty, but how easily they work in any room or environment. I bought a small bow front in 1986 and it's now the only piece of furniture I own from that period of my life. I've used it in bedrooms, master baths, hallways, and living rooms... it works beautifully wherever I place it. I suspect I'll ask to be buried with it. 😊
All of which just goes to show - you can never have too many chests of drawers! David Harvey
So beautiful! I plan to make a reproduction of this gorgeous piece. You inspire me to do so. Thank you.
Good luck and I wish you every success in your endeavours. David Harvey
Hi David - Thank you for another informative video in your series. I really enjoy them. I particularly enjoy the descriptions of the qualities of different woods. One thing I have never been able to understand is, from practical identification perspective, is the difference between Cuban and Honduran mahogany. I’d love to see a video on this. People in the trade often refer to the higher quality of Cuban mahogany but I’ve always found it difficult to differentiate pieces. Best wishes from Ireland.
So glad you enjoy the videos. We certainly have a lot of fun putting them all together. The best description of the differences between Jamaican, Cuban and Honduras Mahogany I have found is in the Shorter Dictionary of English Furniture by Ralph Edwardes where he goes into detail about the different properties. If you cannot get a copy of this let me know and I will try to scan and e-mail this page to you. Best wishes, David Harvey
@@WRHarveyAntiquesLtd Thank you, David. I actually have a copy but didn't realise it covered the topic. My night reading is sorted. Much appreciated!
