I typically really like distressed wood projects but with that wood, IT HAS GOT to sanded cuz much of the wood pcs at Dollar tree are treated and neither paint nor stain will not go through it!!! So many crafters just don't take the time or extra steps to make it look clean and finished....just my opinion
Plus I love they give different ideas cause many don't live close to a Hardware store like lowes are home depot, but dollar tree is on every corner it seems
@CraftingwithMaria I can't afford the tools to cut with, and bc you're making different types of shelves, you're able to buy different wood pieces and types at DT and plan. Going to a hardware store, you're buying one big piece and sometimes wasting wood if it doesn't work out, and if you'd run out, back to the hardware store. It's easier and cheaper finding and using these DT wood pieces, and I appreciate your inspiration! Good job!❤
Good ideas, but I too am not a fan of the rustic look and prefer a more finished look. Some suggestions: Buy the wood somewhere where they will cut it to length for you or where you can cut it yourself with their tools, such as at Home Depot. Always sand all surfaces of the wood. Use wood filler to fill any gaps or knots. Use better paint and more than one coat. Add a clear protective finish.
Maria, Thank you for creating home decor out of the Dollar Tree wood pieces! I have so many wood pieces that need to be used up and these were easy crafts to do. Love all the projects!!

I'm not a fan of the color of the shelves either but I like the concept, so if I was to re-make these I will definitely change the color.

True , but then you will need tools cut them! I already the saw n box so that helped .
