Saw Cherryholmes with Ralph Stanley and the Clinch Mountain Boys in 2012 in Prescott, Az. That was a night of blue grass heaven I'll never forget. RIP Ralph Stanley.
We saw Y’all do this at The Grand Ol Oprie many years ago. The outstanding moment of our trip from UK! I hope the whole family are happy & doing what they want to do.
I saw them 1/3/09 in Troy, NC - I've seen a lot of bluegrass bands in my day, but these folks are by far the best. They put on an excellent show and were all very friendly.
Cherry Holmes rocks; this is my first time seeing the band and to think she'd be tucked in amidst Tom's great Scotish tunes! Thanks and blessings, kevin
I bought their very 1st CD, and every one that followed. Watched the kids grow up literally. They were brilliant, to say the least. I hate it that they broke up, but NOTHING stays the same forever.
Young musicians with a traditional style, they have the best of old and new. It is great to see some great mew bluegrass musicians coning up. They make great music.
Well, the Cherryholmes are far from "new" and they have been "up" for a while. Ive been listening to them for over a decade. But yes, they certainly make great music!
Check out the show at Pocono Raceway in August -- I am seriously considering making the long trip from Tenn. even though it's a track I don't enjoy so much ... here's the lineup: Ricky Skaggs, Steep Canyon Rangers, Charlie Sizemore Band, Dailey & Vincent, Del McCoury Band, Cherryholmes, Blue Highway and SteelDrivers.
Folks, I just got an email this morning informing me that the Cherryholmes family is retiring. :( They are in Troy, NC this weekend, 1/23/11 and that is their next to last show in NC. If you get a chance to see them this year on their farewell tour, please do so as this family has the best live act in the industry. They will be missed and its a terrible loss to the Bluegrass community. Good luck to the 'First Family of Bluegrass music' the Cherryholmes.
@5XChamps2 - Oh my goodness! Well, this is good to know, i will make a better effort to get tickets and go this weekend. They are just such a breath of fresh air! Compared to the stuff out there - this music is just the real deal. And yes, they will be with our wonderful Philharmonic. Thank you so much for the response!!
cherryholmes, del McCoury band, ricky skaggs & kentuky thunder, alison krauss & union station and younder mountain string band would be my fucking dream show. I could then die a happy man hehe
@amylh322 Go to their website and you can read their farewell letter. That wil lbe one awesome show,. That talked about it last weekend. They will play with an orchestra at that show. It should be a great event. Trust me I wish is wasnt true as 5X is their absolute biggest fan ever and it stills breaks my heart that they are moving on.
Cia Cherryholmes crosses over and becomes the next big female pop vocalist. Solo she can break out..Tough to do as a country singer: even tougher to make the jump from Bluegrass. It says here that she will suceed. Not as pure a vocalist as Shania but just as probable.
Miss them. They were the GREATEST of all time
ONE OF THE ALL TIME GREAT FAMILY BANDS IN BLUEGRASS MUSIC EVER!
And she writes most of their music!

Hands down best music I’ve heard in my lifetime. I’m 40.

I saw Cherryholmes live in Summersville, WV, in 2005. If you haven't seen them, put it on the list of things you must do.

@5XChamps2 I just saw what you said is true. I was really suprised, their nominated for a Grammy again this year
How the hell does Cia play such syncopated back up to her own vocals? Crazy.
Truly, one of the greats... she gets so overlooked now.

GREAT VOICE! not completely controlled, though
i LOVE cherryholmes, theres a few players that shine through, and they make GREAT songs
Does anybody else have a crush on Cia or is it just me?
I was gonna say the same thing
+Ricky Tifer Ain't she just adorable?
Why would she want to? she has a very talented family behind her there's not a ton of players that are much better than her family is anyway.
