Just found this video and very pleased that this is what you recommend as my son has been practicing like this against a wall for 2 years now. It’s cost a bit in lost tennis balls and the neighbours aren’t always happy, but it has developed him from being a complete beginner to making the county age group team in less than a year!
I’ve just gotten into cricket as an adult and this video has helped me to practice at home so when I go to the nets I look slightly less like a idiot. Thanks for the great advice.
This is great, I've been wondering about this recently! With cricket nets nearby I can practicing bowl by myself but practicing batting by myself has always been a bit of an unknown
My folks complained about a tennis ball so I made a ball out of paper compressed into a ball shape and taped. It bounced but because it was slightly irregular the bounce wasn't quite right so hand eye had to be good. Bounced off the wall.
As kids we used to wrap the tennis ball in a sock to take the bounce off it, and stop it bouncing over the neighbours fence (as much!). For catching practise, learn to juggle bouncing balls off a wall.
Guys if you wanna practice and the ball comes back put a tennis or cricket ball into a stocking tie it to a tree and you can practice diffeent shots and it always come back. Hope this helps
