- Love this song~ The story is so sad though :c
Elite beat agents is still one of my favorites considering its the very game that got me into the rhythm based genre ^-^ I remember playing this with my friends determined to perfect every song and improve on the harder difficulties :D

I wanted to keep the story in so for those of you who want to skip directly to the gameplay, go to 2:39 c:
Easily the hardest song in the game. Can't see the screen through the tears. It's the most difficult challenge mode.
Everything about this level in EBA fits the mood. Kahn remaining silent in the beginning, the dancing being very withheld, the lack of goofy sound effects, and the fact that the agents never actually interact directly with the girl or her mother but just radiate positive vibes from a distance over the course of what must be a few months from when they start at his birthday and continue all the way through Christmas.
In addition, Kahn sends the agents despite Lucy never crying for help
The nuanced changes in this level compared to all the others. The way Kahn just sits in silence. The way Lucy doesn’t shout for help. The way she chases his shadow. Half the time when I played this game, I couldn’t stop balling my eyes out before the first step hit the screen.
Anyone who’s lost a parent or a loved one as a kid can relate to the feeling of quiet (or loud) despair
Anytime I commuted to work away from my own little girls, this scene and this song in this game is the first thing that runs through my mind.
The Agents helped Lucy see her father again...and then, when all seemed lost, Lucy led the chant that helped the Agents break out of petrification.
What goes around comes around!
I played this game when I was younger. When I got to this stage I started to get emotional over it. Now I’m 21, and my grandfather died on December 11th of 2019; so now when I watch this I just start crying rivers. I miss him so much...
Losing a loved one is hard, hope you found peace with it these past years. Good luck mate.
Man Im 30 years old and this mission still makes me cry
I am nearly 40 and trust me it wont get any easier.
2:20 I love how even the spaz Kahn is like "that's fucked up. Just go already, agents."
The one mission where 'Agents are go!' is never mentioned.
@@rararasputin8608 yep exactly
Maybe it’s because of how sad and emotional this episode is
@@stimpsonj.cat2981 100%
And then in Hard Rock, he straight-up goes to the mission site himself.
Every couple of years I end up coming back to this song/video. And who would've though, and after 12 years here I am once again getting all emotional over a silly rythm DS game.
I don't care what people say about EBA, this level in particular was crafted to perfection.
You're the Inspiration should be a Christmas Song now. Please ask your local radio station to play this during the holidays
Jesus... Who'd have thought such a silly rhythm game would be hiding such a _massive_ emotional gut punch?
No, I'm not crying. My eyeballs are sweating, is all.
EBA vibe so hard they resurrect the dead.
Which is what made Ouendan/EBA so unique.
my hands are the ones crying my eyes are also sweating
I've never played EBA, or the Japanese versions, Ouendan, and Ouendan 2, but whenever I watch someone play the sad levels online, it reminds me of the day that my Dad died of bowel cancer three years ago. I, still, miss him, even, today, and these particular levels, really, have a way of touching this fragile heart of mine... 😢😢😢 So, thank you very much, Naiyuki, for reminding me to never give up. ❤❤❤
BangersAndMashmonkey I'm so sorry for your loss >
Oh really! I'm so sorry I've never had someone major in my life die, but it's sad to see it when it happens to others.
Kahn: "Man, I got this one"
You ever vibe out so hard you resurrect the dead? The EBA has.
And the people they helped return the favour by bringing the EBA back from the stone.
WOW I JUST RANDOMLY REMEMBERED THIS FROM MY CHILDHOOD. I REMEMBER I KEPT MESSING UP BC I WAS LEGITIMATELY CRYING
As someone whose father died around Christmas, this always hits close to home.
I had no idea Kahn goes out with the Hard Rock girls on this mission.
Fits, given his response to seeing it.
I love how kahn doesn't say "elite beat agents, go" but instead sits in silence
Did i just tear up at a fucking DS game?
There is no shame
Wait till you learn about the Professor Layton games, bud.

To quote the Nostalgia Critic: "Hold on, I, I got something in my eye..... Ok where was I? Oh right this scene. THIS SCENE MAKES ME CRY!"
I had this game, and this stage hit me just as hard as everyone else. It's a brilliant execution to lead up to this after how absurdly over-the-top the other stages are. It makes the simple wishes of a 7 year old wishing for her dad to come home hit that much harder. I always loved how the Ouendan series had one of these per game, and if you haven't checked them out before, recommend at least looking at it translated on UA-cam.
Ouendan 1 had "Over the Distance", where a boyfriend who died in a motorcycle accident begs an angel in the afterlife to return to Earth and remedy the bad terms he left with his girlfriend before passing. Granting him 3 hours, he does all he can in his spiritual form to tell his girlfriend he's sorry.
Ouendan 2 had "Believe", where two sisters who figure skate grow apart as the younger (Mana) grows tired of her sister Rina being the better skater and more popular than her. In a moment of abrupt frustration, Mana wishes Rina would just disappear. The same evening, Rina steps onto a crosswalk and dies when a car hits her. Blaming herself for Rina's death, Mana picks up Rina's skates and follows all the advice her sister gave her to achieve the dream they started after.
I just really admire how quickly they can drag you in with very little pretext and in the midst of still essentially playing a rhythm game. At the end of the day, you've still got cheerleader girls and suited agents dancing on a touch screen that you have to distance yourself from, and the stories just work so well that it does the job for most people. Always loved these.
The mix of nostalgia and sadness, I CAN'TTTT
;-; I have nothing but respect for those agents.
Great job!! You should do more Elite Beat Agents videos..
Esquerdista Pão com Mortadela Same ;^;
And thank you! :D I definitely wanna work on uploading more of them ^-^
I'm not crying you're crying it's raining.... *FUUUUUUUCK!!*
I actually went to see Chicago(the band who originally did this song) around 2017 In my state. Fact: It was my very first big Concert I went to. Honestly I knew all of the lyrics to their songs especially to your the inspiration Being my personal Favorite.
I’M NOT CRYING!!!
YOU’RE CRYING!!!
(*Sniff*)
Nah, we're both crying, man. Because this was... this was beautiful.
No, we're all crying.
Paraphrasing someone else but.. after i started this level? You could tear my forearms off and I'd use the bloody stumps to finish this level anyway.
I've played this game already why am I crying again
I just came here for the nostalgia. I heard the song on the radio and remembered this game
Out of every level from EBA, this one is by far the hardest for me to revisit as I just keep crying while playing it.
I wonder if the members of Chicago have seen or heard about this.
I’m not crying youre crying ok yes I’m crying
After almost 20 years, I hope I can finally watch this level without crying.
Never actually seen the level proper before, I think I have a defective copy because when I try to play this level everything gets all blurry for some reason.
This was such a bad ass game. I remember playing it over and over. Good music and such a good pace to play it on.
Oh this is thee best version of Inspiration on the3 interwebs. Thanx!
Okay show of hands be honest. Who cried during this level?
Who didn't cry is easier
@@iLegault For real everyone did i think lol
pure unadultered kino of the highest order
Still cry SO hard when I hear this sonh and think about this level ...
Damn that got tragic fast
Bro it never hit me as a kid but this mission was heavy. I think I remember that if you get the bad version of the first cutscene they find a picture of the dad with some other woman, and thinking about that now...good lord that is...a lot...
Is that true?? Am I crazy?? Does anyone else remember that?
It's actually a photo of him in a speedo.
Mission 12 is good for a December mission lol
Id always love this song and the other tear jerker songs on Ouendan 1 and 2
And just like the Japanese versions, this song is super punishing if you mess up
Yooooo i played this a ton in elementary school lol
LargeMisoRamen Nice! XD I first played this in high school and I was hooked XD
.. damn onion ninjas...
Holy shit, Nintendo!
You're the inspiration by Chicago.
You know our love was meant to be
The kind of love that lasts forever
And I want you here with me
From tonight until the end of time
You should know, everywhere I go
Always on my mind, in my heart
In my soul, baby
You're the meaning in my life
You're the inspiration
You bring feeling to my life
You're the inspiration
Wanna have you near me
I wanna have you hear me sayin'
No one needs you more than I need you
And I know, yes I know that it's plain to see
So in love when we're together
Now I know that I need you here with me
From tonight until the end of time
You should know, everywhere I go
Always on my mind, in my heart
In my soul
You're the meaning in my life
You're the inspiration
You bring feeling to my life
You're the inspiration
Wanna have you near me
I wanna have you hear me sayin'
No one needs you more than I need you
Wanna have you near me
I wanna have you hear me sayin'
No one needs you more than I need you
You're the meaning in my life
You're the inspiration
You bring feeling to my life
You're the inspiration
When you love somebody 'til the end of time
When you love somebody
Always on my mind
No one needs you more than I
When you love somebody 'til the end of time

Always on my mind
I need you

don't cry, namcowolf-san... don't cry, namcowolf-san... don't cry, namcowolf-san...
This used to make me SOB playing this one as a 7 year old
It's 2024, I still haven't moved on from this
With Kahn there, i just imagine he's singing the song.
Damn, this one hits different when you're older, huh?
I Mean Come On Now Its Just A Silly Fictional Game Right.. This Totally Does Hit You Feels Right..Right.. Now If You Will Excuse Me I Need To Find A Tissue For.. Eye Sweat
This is going to sound sad and weird but I remember my copy of the game showed the dad die-
I’m pretty sure it showed him in a car accident-
Direct japanese port?
Your heart filled in what the ratings would not allow your eyes to see.
@@DukeofGames50 there is no japanese port, because this Game was made for the west only. The japanese Games are different and have there own stories and music. They called: "Osu, Tatakea, Ouendan" and there are 2 Games in japan for the NDS.
The "dad die scene" is just in our head
@@UndeadCollector agreed
Has anyone found anything out about this? It's bugging me now because I distinctly remember it too. It wasn't in our heads. Did they change the game after release or something?
Omg ive never been good at this game lol xdd but great job!😄
MoonlightButterfly Miku Aw it's okay! DX
Thank you! 😄
I felt awful that my divorced father suffered from a terrible heart attack and got sent to the hospital.
You get COMMANDER KAHN?? I need to get my cartridge back!! I need to unlock him! I couldn't beat Chieftain
