He will need to hire a US immigration Attorney, and reach out to American Musicians to vouch. Sadly, with relations between the 2 countries, if Max has even ONE relative in the Govt, he will be denied. But they are also denying people for no reason as well. I personally know multiple Russian musicans here on work visa's, but it was a major hassle, and they needed legal representation to get in. If Max needs immigration legal help, I can provide a great legal counsel that specializes in Russian immigration here to the States. But yes, it will not be easy going the "legal" route.. Hilarious cuz our current admin doesnt give a crap about everyone just walking across our southern border.

Dude, no reason to ever get specific with those guys. The key to those interviews is to have simple answers to all their questions. I'm not surprised they had no clue what NAMM is. If you would have said Disneyland you might have had an easier time (don't say that cuz they'll ask to see tickets). It calms them down to see a round trip ticket, a letter of sponsorship from a friend saying they'll be financially responsible for you during your trip (as chatgpt how to write it), a clear address where you'll stay, and bank statements showing you have enough money to cover your trip. Things to avoid saying are anything that makes them think you're there for business. I'd probably avoid mentioning your partnerships with said fractal peoples :)
I bet they do not scream as loud as people in Ukraine when Russian bombs are falling on their houses. Max is a cool guy, but there is a reason we have sanctions, and I would say people lives are more important than entitled Russians travelling around the world. Exceptions and the delay regarding sanctions is partially the reason people still get killed over there.

I think it's just the council who did their job too sloppily. As Max told me, they were interrupting him when he was answering questions, so it's definitely not on political grounds. He didn't get denied to entry US at all, he's got denied only the application, so he still has a chance.
If you are invited to work for i.e a vendor at Namm, they should apply for a Visa for you, and then you will probably have an interview setup with an American embassy, if your Visa is approved. If you are just going there as a visitor you don‘t need a Visa, just go there as a tourist (ESTA and travel under the Visa Waiver Program).

I had the exact same experience when I first applied for the American VISA back in 2013. Had a letter from NAMM with me, plane tickets etc, but still got a negative response. Pro tip - next time just tell them you're spending vacations in the US.
go to Chili, the approval process for tourists visas there is crazy good, a friend of mine was denied 4 times, went to Chile and got a B1 visa there on the 1st attempt
What's his citizenship? They say wait times for an interview are 49 days, and that's for residents, non-residents usually wait for longer. Chances are he won't make it on time in Chile, he needs to choose some other country.

I'm Australian and used to work on cruise ships sailing out of US ports. One year I came to the US to visit friends for a few weeks before joining the ship. I had a C1/D visa (I think from memory), but entered under the 'Visa Waiver Program' because I guess I was a little more dumb than I am now. Well immigration did not like that one bit and they sent me for an interview. The clown immigration officer shouted at me for asking a simple question and told me I was not allowed to speak. That was 20 years ago, and I live in the US now. Who'd have known I could have just walked across the border in the last 4 years and been given a shit ton of money?
Max you have to apply for tourist visa not business visa. Big difference, purpose of your travel, assist to music trade show period. US embassy needs to be sure you are going and have no intention of staying in the territory. Have clear short answers, where you staying hotels, roads, when you're leaving etc. You show them the invitation only if they ask for it. It's more important to let them know you have a stable life in Russia and have no plans to stay in the US Hope this helps
