I've used my Cricut machine on several past projects. It may not be the most common tool in the shop, but it's definitely great to have for customizing and personalizing projects both big and small.
So in this video, I wanted to take the opportunity to explain a little more about it, demonstrate some examples of how to use it and hopefully get your wheels turning on ways you might could use one in your own shop.
If you've been on the fence about picking up a Cricut for your shop, hopefully this video will help you decide one way or the other if it's right for you.

You've really become comfortable in front of the camera. Very smooth presentation and narration. Great job Shara 👍👍
Haha I don’t know about that, but thank you! The camera still makes me nervous 🤣 I appreciate you watching. Thanks so much!
"All Aboard the Hot Mess Express!" Complete with a hot mess moment that I totally identify with. 🤣Winner!! This oughta be a selection in your store! Tee shirt, anyone?
Haha I should make t shirts 🤣🤣
You’ve finally done it! Given me a project that my wife can’t run from me on, so we have to work together! All I have to say is something like…”But you don’t want me to mess up your cricut, do you?!”
Love them all, especially the “Hot Mess Express”!!
I also use my Cricut for making patterns to use on my scroll saw. I cut them in a thick card stock or paper. Makes it a lot easier than having to cut by hand.
Love you ideas for using the Cricut and wood projects. 🙂
That’s such a good idea to use the card stock for stencils! I hope this video gave you some neat ideas to try with your machine! Thanks for watching, friend!
Great ideas… I have a cricut and I’ve not used it hardly. I usually just stare at it and think, “What should I do” and then promptly do nothing LOL…but this is a great jumping off point ☺️ thank you!!
Haha there’s so many options, it’s overwhelming! Hopefully this gives you some simple ideas to get those creative juices flowing. 😁
Okay, but I seriously WANT those art pieces! Love my Cricut! 😍
You are on the cutting edge!Lol Very informative.
Haha I see what you did there 😉🤣
I have the Maker and Joy. I tend to find myself using the Joy more. Now that I have my Shapeoko built, the possibilities are endless. 🤯 Awesome and Useful video. 👍🏼
It really does open up so many doors! I don’t have a maker but I have a Joy and with a little creativity and patience, I find you can do MOST anything you need with the Joy. The bigger machine is nice to have for those wider cuts, though haha. Happy making! 🙌
Really very nice >>>>.. Thank you
Thanks for watching!
My Bride has a Cricut, which she uses for some awesome projects. It comes in super handy for a lot of my wood and metal projects, as well.
Love your channel! I have subscribed to your newsletter and I get so excited when I see an email come in saying there's new content! LOL! Your biggest fan from Huntsville, Alabama! Candy!
That was interesting and useful. I had wanted to know how the Cricut operates and this helped quite a bit. Thanks for sharing this.
I know it was a little out of the norm, but I hoped to kind of break it down a little and briefly cover the versatility because it really is a useful addition to customize your projects. Hopefully this shed some light on it. I appreciate you watching!
✨✨✨Been binge watching… you are over the top creative. Love this project. Heading out to up-grade my Cricut Machine 😍✨
That's pretty cool.. I don't use that but I know a couple of people that use cricut to do shirts .. I def will pass this on to them. Thanks 😊
Awesome! Hopefully they enjoy it 👍 thanks for watching!
I don’t know if it works on the explorer, but on the maker you you can buy a bit to cut thin pieces of wood. It does a really good job. I use it instead of the CNC sometimes if it’s a small project. Would be great for the pumpkin project you did if someone doesn’t have a jigsaw or bandsaw.
That’s a great point-you can do that in the maker, but the explore doesn’t cut wood. That’s an advantage to the maker vs the explore
Good morning Shara, as always great video. Thanks for posting!
Good morning! Thanks so much! Have a great weekend 😎
All fantastic projects. Thank you for sharing this very cool machine
Thanks so much! I hope you enjoyed it!
Interesting! Thanks for posting, and thumbs up.
Hope it was enjoyable! Thanks for watching!
That’s an upgrade to the small one you were using. I hope Crichton let you keep the new one. And a lifetime supply of vinyl…. LOL
It’s definitely a size up! It’s nice to not have to piece it all together anymore ha.
those art works are incredible. 👍
Brilliant, Shara! Thanks!!! 😃
I'm definitely going to get one of those as soon as I can!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
It’s a great addition to the shop to add some quick customizations to your projects 🙌 thanks for watching and have a great weekend!
I have one Cricut E3 too since over a year. I love this amazing tool. Amazing video! Thank you!
It’s really a great addition to add customization to any kind of project 🙌 I LOVE mine. Glad you enjoyed the video! I appreciate you watching!
Interesting video Shara! It seems there are endless possibilities to how a person can use the Cricut. It definitely expands the different designs to incorporate in projects. Thanks for the introduction to it!
So glad you enjoyed it! It’s definitely got thousands of applications and ideas to go along with it.
Love how you strucured this video into the different projects. The art work looks so stunning
Hope you enjoyed it! I wasn’t sure how to organize it, so I’m glad you found this helpful 😊
Well Shara, you've certainly have us inspired! You have my wheels turning now. Sending a link to my Wife for her review. If her wheels get turning we could have a Cricket soon. The mid day temps relegate my time in the shop to early morning or evenings, so it would be great to do the design work inside while waiting for it to cool down. Same goes for winter limitations. Love your creativity. Thanks for Sharing!
I appreciate that! I’m glad you enjoyed the video and hopefully took something away from it 😊 I understand working around the temps 😅 Maybe this will give you some options to still stay creative even in the extremes haha. Thanks so much for watching and have a great weekend 🙌
As always perfect 👌👏👍
Thanks so much!
Thank for this video. I’ve owned a cru it for year and havent used it much. It’s a little intimidating.
I love your desk behind you- Do you have any videos on how to build it?
The shop cabinets? I have a video here:

Nice toy there,oh i mean tool for the shop!! 😆.. My sister wanted to get one of these, and i was like cool,i will go in haft with her, then 2020 came around and took us for a wild ride. But we still want to get one,so thanks for the inspiration with it Shara...
Thanks for sharing!!
I appreciate you watching!
Great explanatory video on the Cricket! There must literally be thousands of uses for one of these! Help me understand one thing, lol…. I guess I’m old and out of date, but what is a “Hot Mess”? Lol…. I’ve heard you use that term a couple times in earlier videos. But never thought about what it might mean. Have a great weekend Shara and keep on building!
Definitely thousands of ways to use it! It’s pretty handy to have around for all sorts of things.
Haha I don’t have an exact definition of a “hot mess” but basically it just means “mess” but more exaggerated. So I’m a mess, basically. The “hot” just makes it sound more messy than just “mess” alone.
I hope you have a great weekend as well! Im working on (hopefully) next weeks project as we speak!
@@WoodshopDiaries …. Thanks Shara! Good explanation. I’ll check your links for the Cricket. This is such a great idea. I really like the label making capabilities and how you demonstrated them!
SUPER !!!!!!!!!
Thank you 👍
Thanks for this video, was very informative and AMAZING!
I appreciate that! Thanks and have a great weekend!
👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻 thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching! 👍
Super cool
Glad you enjoyed it!
What’d you frame that artwork piece with, @ beginning? The raw wood trim. Looks bigger than 1”x2” & that’s nlunthing I know to use but always looking for something bit smaller yet not curvy at all.
Hi Shara! Was wondering which package you would recommmend for someone who is just getting started with the cricut. I have a cricut, but it is the one that first came out, so I am sure it won't even come close to performing the tasks that the Cricut Exporer 3 does so need direction of what to get to start out. Thanks! By the way, I love your channel and all of your plans! Bev
Hi! Thanks so much for your kind words! I’m not a Cricut expert. I love mine and use it occasionally for things like this, but not daily. So I’m not sure I’d give the best advice and honestly, which one to get really depends on how much you use it and what types of projects you’re planning to make with it. I used the Joy for a while before upgrading to the explore. The Joy is a great little machine for writing and cutting, but it’ll only cut up to about 4 1/2” wide. So if you plan to make big stuff, I’d definitely recommend going with at least the explore. The maker is kind of the “top of the line” with tons of extra features and ability to cut other materials (like wood veneer, which is super cool). I’d recommend browsing the website and checking out each machines features and see which ones you think you’d really use and decide based on that.
@@WoodshopDiaries Thank you so much for your honesty! So refreshing in this day and age. I would like to do some of the things that you did in your video. I especially like your Hot mess Train sign! The pumpkin one was awesome and such a great idea for fall decorations! Keep us the great work Shara! Your plans have really helped me with my confidence in building! Bev
Use make-up foam sponge wedges for paint, very inexpensive. I've never tried with stain, but, I think it'll work the same to avoid leaks.
Wondering if you think you would ever end up with a CNC Router and/or a laser?
Honestly, I doubt it. I am not real interested in it and have never really had the desire to get one.
In the first one, if paint was used instead of stain, you could spray the board with shellac, and the paint would not run.
Yeah you could definitely paint instead 👍
...cricket !
😊😊
Does your creativity have any limits? I hope not! If you added a 3D printer, a CNC router, and a laser etcher, to your shop, you would be absolutely unstoppable. It looks like you might have purchased the Cricut Explorer 3 bundle. The website shows that it costs $500 for all that. Would you be willing to share how much you have into all that you show in the video?
