    You confused the hell out of me (as a first time Mango/OpenWRL user) when you suddenly ended up in advanced settings when I'd not even installed or heard of Luci.
    Once I'd discovered that and found where you were - IT ONLY BLEEDIN' WORKED!!! Thanks man.
    I've been unable to do this over three routers because my rural internet connection is my phone. I'd tried 'hotspotting' to other routers but it never worked properly.
    Now via tethering to this and having followed your instructions, I consider that I now have 'proper internet'.
    Thanks again for learning all this so I didn't have to, and for passing it on of course.

    I see NAT Open, but PES2020 and other games like Bomberman cant be played fine it lags a lot, and my ports never appearing open at sites that tests it.

    I had to turn on the other options as well for my Xbox. With this single rule, I got a strict NAT. This was better than what was happening before. I added the other ports per Microsoft's website and got an OPEN NAT. Thanks, for the video.

    No PC para o Xbox Live só deu certo instalando o módulo "luci-app-upnp / miniupnpd". Quando abri os serviços UPnP dentro do OpenWRT ele mostrava uma porta UDP (49916) totalmente diferente das que indicam configurar no site Microsoft.

    Is it always neccessary to have a static ip address for an Open Nat or does it still work with DHCP. What are the Pros and Cons? - Thanks.

    • @xboxgamer7453
      @xboxgamer7453 5 років тому

      @Richard Foley I periodically check all my devices connected to my BT router and they always use the same ip address...So I've never made any static ip's

    • @TechLevelJedi
      @TechLevelJedi  5 років тому

      Hi, a static IP is not necessary for Open NAT as you can achieve this with UPnP enabled. In my example, I am port forwarding, so a static IP is necessary, if you are port forwarding, then the same applies.

      Tech Level Jedi The problem is that I use a Mikrotik as the main router and the PS is connected to a second AP. I've opened all ports and nothing.

    • @TechLevelJedi

      @@Jatsotserah Have you tried connecting your PS directly to the Mikrotik to rule out the AP?

    • @Jatsotserah
      @Jatsotserah 5 років тому

      @@TechLevelJedi Well, in that scenario, there is no problem. Mikrotik's UPnP works flawlessly when Consoles are directly to LAN. But the case here is that a router is behind the MT and your explanation is not enough. I've even assigned all zones to accept in OpenWRT. NAT keeps moderate in COD.

    • @TechLevelJedi
      @TechLevelJedi  5 років тому

      Hi, its a good idea to keep your BT hub in bridge mode. Plug your BT hub into the WAN port of your nighthawk and then I believe you set your WAN port to PPPoE (you will need BT username and password for your line, which is not always available to you without calling them up first) Then pop these details into PPPoE section in openwrt and you should be up and running

    Hi mate, I also seen that on the bottom of that guys comment he says "Teredo should be disabled when native IPv6 connectivity becomes available" does that mean port forward 3074 needs to be disabled? how do you do that? ive got sky broadband and they use ipv6. ive also got an openwrt router. thanks

    • @TechLevelJedi
      @TechLevelJedi  4 роки тому

      Hi, by default port forwards are not enabled by default so there is nothing to disable. If IPv6 is working correctly from your sky router, you should not need to do any port forwards. Test your NAT type on your xbox with it connected directly to your sky router and see what result you get.

    • @grantthomson7013
      @grantthomson7013 4 роки тому

      "Teredo should be disabled when native IPv6 connectivity becomes available" that's part of the statement that guy said. I have a ER x openwrt so since adding port forward 3544 to 3074 its made a big difference but I had ipv6 disabled. I was wondering if adding ipv6 would it improve anything? ive tried removing the port forward you suggested but it then gives me a MODERAT NAT. how would you disable toredo ? thanks man

    I have a tp link router and have the bar to open a couple of times this past week but once I restart the Xbox it goes back to strict. Just wondering do you have any knowledge of to link routers as it doesn’t give me as much options as your router does. Thanks!

    • @TechLevelJedi
      @TechLevelJedi  5 років тому

      Hi, most routers come with different options which doesn't help! it seems that quite a few of them don't allow specifying the source port as shown in my video :/
      What port forwards have you set so far?

      I have forwarded 3544, 3074, and 88. I have also assigned a static ip and also created a dmz with the xbox IP address on my router. Any further help would be great thanks!

    • @TechLevelJedi
      @TechLevelJedi  5 років тому

      @@johnosullivan4684 Ok, at this point, I would, remove / disable the DMZ. Try deleting the 3544 rule as sometimes it can break Teredo when 3544 is forwarded to 3544. Failing this I would forward these additional ports from Xbox > 500 / 4500 including 88 / 3074. Also, is your TP link the only router on the network?

      I’m afraid it’s still strict. At the port forwarding section it has service port and internal port. I presume the service port is the port I want to forward but what should I put for the internal port. ATM I have 3074 as the internal port for all.

  • @hcarlin1

    Zyxel has a very confusing way of laying this out... clicking on port forward it brings up the settings you show but instead of source port, there is 'trigger start port' 'end port' then 'translation start port' translation end port'. Reckon setting them all to 3074 would work? Not sure how to get 3544 into the mix though, any help appreciated :)

    • @TechLevelJedi
      @TechLevelJedi  5 років тому +1

      Hi, by the looks of it Zyxel dont allow specifying source ports :/ You could try your own suggestion but personally that has given me mixed results in the past. The Zyxel routers have an apllications tab when when creating a port forward, you could see if Xbox Live is listed in there? If it is that will generate a predefined rule for you.

    • @hcarlin1
      @hcarlin1 5 років тому

      @@TechLevelJedi Funny you should say that, had a look at it the other night, and it has games listed on there from nearly 20 years ago, along with the Xbox 360 and the Wii... Tried forwarding all the ports to one another individually but no luck after power cycling etc.
      Might have to look for an alternative router, as the lag spikes are becoming unbearable. Any recommendations?

    • @TechLevelJedi
      @TechLevelJedi  5 років тому

      Not really the best person for new recommendations as I still use old hardware! But definitely, if you're confident enough, purchase a router that supports openwrt. I would also say that if you do manage to open your NAT, this will improve connectivity to other players but not help with lag spikes, that is most likely something for your ISP to sort.

    Hey, I've done everything you've said in the vid, and double and triple checked everything, although my Xbox is still saying strict followed by the message "UPnP not successful". UPnP is enabled in my router settings, and I also tried disabling it, resetting the router, then re-enabling it and resetting again to no avail. Any thoughts on what I can do next?? Thanks!

    • @TechLevelJedi
      @TechLevelJedi  4 роки тому

      Make sure you dont use port forwards and UPnP together. (use one method only). You can try the full list of port forwards from microsoft or you can revert to UPnP again and try to do this with your xbox's instant on mode DISABLED.

    • @jimmycaldwell9701
      @jimmycaldwell9701 4 роки тому

      @@TechLevelJedi Thank you for such a fast response! So, seems like using UPnP by itself doesn't work for me.. I don't quite know enough about this stuff to easily explain it, so I'm just going to give a brief rundown of what I did to port forward my Xbox. I'm sorry to bombard you with all of this 😣
      For my router setup, eero, under a tab named "ipv4 reservations & port forwards", I added my Xbox. I put in the ip address and the MAC id. The only other feature I'm given is a tab underneath this that says "port forwarding", where I can add ports by inputting an external and internal. I've added all of the Xbox live ports and assigned them to their respective protocols. Do you by any chance see where I went wrong? I'm getting the same notification on Xbox unfortunately..
