Cayey, my father's hometown. I've been to all of these places. All beautiful.

My father was also from Cayey. It’s a pretty town.

I've been to Charco Azul twice. The last time was especially enjoyable. We stopped in Guavate FIRST, picked up some food to go, and brought it with us to Charco Azul. And yes, you better believe that we cleaned up after ourselves. Charco Azul is definitely deep in sections, and jumping off the rocks into it, is fun. Just visually check the area that you are jumping into, for peace of mind.

One idea might be to jump in feet first before jumping in head first the secpnd time. Glad you enjoyed it:

Whoa, the information on El Monumento del Jibaro is news to me. I just visited this month, after being away for 10 years, and I had no idea that the parking area had been eliminated, and that access has pretty much been cut off. I've made several stops at El Monumento over the years. It's always been a nice "rest area" stop to stretch our legs, and think about my jibaro roots. Jibaro to me is not a bad word.

It's a shame that the government can't take care of some of these places..I was born in Cayey along with my brothers and sisters (5 total) - My father was from Ponce and my mother from Cidra...I visited my uncle in Cayey which wasn't too far from a plaza which at the time was having a festival at the time..Not sure though..My uncle and aunt passed away (mother's side) but my cousin still lives in the same house..I need to find the address..I want to go back before I get any older and take a driving tour of PR..Thank you for the video..

My pleasure. My father was born in Cayey and lived there until he was a young man. It’s a beautiful town, but lately it has had a rise in violent crime. So sad.

I’m glad you did this for me bc there is no way I’m walking through that walkway to get to Charcoal azul.

Glad to help. Like they say in the newspaper business: “I don’t make the news, I just report it”.

Most of the video was of you walking to the charco. Could've edit it out and spent more time at Guavate.

That has been an argument for years but “las tetas de Cayey” has a better ring to it. Sorry.
