Same here! I think it might be some East Asian or South East Asian folk tales. Creepy when I first heard it! IRL tho I have heard an explanation of the sound, which is that it's actually the sound of water hammer in the water pipes of modern day buildings.

The title of the game "童子命" (translated as "Childish Life" in the game title) is a term related to fortune-telling, it basically means "short-lived" and when someone has "童子命," one of the sign is that they are frequently ill as a child and they are more likely to lose their life from acute illness or accidents (I looked at the Baidu Wiki for this term.)
46:50 In the original text, she said "这就是童子命的诅咒吗？" which is translated as "Is this the curse of the child prodigy?" here, but if the translation is kept consistant, it would be "Is this the curs of the 'childish life'?" (which is what 童子命 was translated to in the game title.)
I wonder if "children's life" or "young lived" would be a more accurate feeling of the translation?
@@GeologicalNerd Doesn't have the connotation of "childish" but from context, the closest english fortunetelling idiom is being "born under a bad moon" -- other sayings would be "ill-fated" or "inauspicious".
So I'd personally localize it as "The Inauspicious Child" if I wanted to slightly obscure it through vocabulary, and "The Ill-Fated Child" if I wanted to be direct and make people wonder if "ill-fated" refers to a fate of illnesses or to something darker like a birth curse.

Fun Fact Manly, the random coin drops or better word the marble ball drop that you hear randomly is what us in South east asia would know that there are either spirits passing or theres some entity nearby usually you'd hear the marble drop randomly on the ceiling you are in its mostly harmless but thats the meaning of it. i know this from my family of exorcists!

It can also be because of water pipes! There are some cases where they bring exorcists over and over but still there turns out it just weird pipe physics haha
@@SaturnIsCringing simple, keep your mental state up! It all boils down to how you are physically and mentally. Be strong willed. People say that spirits will posses the weak and that's true and it's due to us having more openings for spirits to enter. Just be strong willed and don't acknowledge things that aren't there.

Going by the ending monologue, seems the character at the end is the same as the one under the sheet and, going by one line about their childhood self dying again and again, the one you play as.
All three of the characters are the same person just in different states of being. One "dead", one "as they were", and one "as a kid".
I like how when he said "chill out" the babies actually got quiet for a bit😂
Horror is still obviously here, but it's always nice seeing Manly show off those reflexes by dodging around enemies as he hunts for keys. Not a ton to say on the story, I'm curious if we'll be able to help her in the full game.

@@bozhidarabuyuklieva Yes, it's a prologue. In a story, it's usually a separate part that introduces the world, a few characters, or problem the characters will need to face before the main story happens.
In this case, it's kind of like a demo, but it's more likely the game will be separated into chapters, and this is the prologue to the story. Hope this helps :)

Poor girl. Looks like shes trapped in a spoky hospital purgatory. The gameover screens are neat. The atmosphere is really spooky too. I like the little audio stuff and things moving around. I hope they do more with the audio stuff since its a good way to preserve a scary atmosphere since in most games you dont see the small stuff carry through and so a bit of the experience you had at the start is lost. The cat spirit mechanics neat and i like how there are repercussions to dashing carelessly. I wonder if it is possession at work controlling the girl and spirit is trapped in purgatory in the mean time. I hope the game comes out fully soon so i can take a crack at it.
The enemy AI seems good too, can't be fooled/ exploited easily

this was great! the characters, the general aura. And it was surprising that it was just a part of an incoming game because is longer (and better) than a lot of full games.

I can wait for him to play the full release to see what its about. I believe that will lead to the true ending, in which the girl is fully recovered. By not collecting all of them, the player would probably get bittersweet ending, in which she isn't fully recovered, and has to either take lots of medicine, or something. In the prologue/demo, I think its some minor bonus scene.

Your voice is so great, but the context of what you say after I drift off, warps my dreams into some warped worlds that I will have trouble forgetting.
I like it when games don't even pretend to hide the fact they're a metaphor or a dying dream. It's a lot like Driver San Fran. It allows us to just get right to the actual story and game.
If the whole dream-story is a twist the player usually feels kind of cheated
It rarely works, so it certainly is good that the devs opened their cards from the get-go in this case

so, I interpreted the person in the room you keep speaking to as the "doctor" Xiao Yi's mother was calling, like they said in the beginning. it seemed like they had set up without directly saying it that perhaps when the doctors told the mother to take Xiao Yi home to pass comfortably, because she was a vegetable that would never wake up again bc she had brain damage that wasn't able to heal, that her mother called basically a psychic to try and see if the psychic could "bring back" Yi's consciousness. and that the "hospital" was all in Yi's head, or was part of some actual real spirit world that Yi was trying to escape to wake up from the coma. I thought the whole game was her spirit trying to make it back to her body pretty much, since having brain damage and being in a coma is sort of like having one foot in the living world bc your body is able to support you at least for some time, and the other in the spirit world bc you won't ever wake up again. and with this girl, we see her fail at the last moment, keeping her in the spirit world unable to wake up, and from what she says at the end it seems like after her failure to escape, her body didn't die right away. seemingly she was kept alive by her mother and the doctor was wrong about her dying immediately, something that is super common. and that in those years alive as a vegetable, she experienced the things she described, places similar to her childhood home etc.
I don't mean to toot my own horn or anything lololol but my theory is the only one I can think of that makes sense lmao. I assume since this is the demo and prequel, that the full game will be guiding a soul successfully out of the spirit world since we were so close but unable to here
