    For guitarists, this is like when you go to use your buddy's pick & find out how much different & better it is for certain techniques.

    Mine just arrived this past Monday. Great feel. Nice balance. At first look, I thought the tips were a little large but I really like how they sound on both Hi/Hat and Ride Cymbal. My first experience with Promark in a minute and with the Fire Stick model. 🔥 👍🏻

    I’ve recently really fallen in love with the rebound 5B. I played them at a gig Friday and Saturday night, then tried to go back to VF Extreme 5A Sunday. I can certainly say with the rebound sticks I had no cramps, no fatigue, and finger pain/stiffness. All of that came back when I tried to go back to the X5A. Rebound 5B is the stick for me.

    And a 1/4” longer than standard 16”, which I love that little extra length. I love these sticks. Already have several pairs.

    I really like those sticks. They also look cool. With what you were playing I really detected the influences of Steve Gadd, Stewart Copeland, and Mark Brzezicki. I got to see all three drummers live. Steve Gadd was performing with James Taylor, in Edmonton, in 2016. I saw Steward Copeland performing with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, performing to the silent film, Ben Hur, a few years ago. I saw Mark Brzezicki when he was drumming for Procol Harum, when they were performing with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, in 1992. Cheers, Rob! 👍🏻👍🏻✌️🥁🇨🇦

    When are you gonna do a video about transitioning from traditional grip to matched? Your proficiency in both is amazing but I've been watching for years with you playing traditional. Haven't seen it in awhile. I'm sure I'm not alone in noticing the switch. What's the back story?

  • @tonyvalenti6614

    Nice! Dang Beatdown, you could play with two sticks off a tree and still macke’m sound great! 🤣 I’ve been a Dave Weckl .56 diam., 16.25 length, medium taper barrel tip stick fan for decades. Recently, I tried Nick D’Virgilio signature sticks, but they were shorter and heavier thus wasn’t working for me. Going from a barrel to an acorn tip after so long made it more uncomfortable. By your description, it sounds like Larnell’s signatures are similar to Nick’s. Thicker yet, though longer with a longer taper and acorn tip. Though I like the length, likely the weight will bring me back to the Weckl’s. Always interesting to see what new spec stick variations come about.

    Meanwhile, I'm out here looking for something lighter than a 5B but not as light as a 5A 🤣 I can't wait to be able to get my hands on these sticks!

  • @suminshizzles6951
    @suminshizzles6951 2 місяці тому

    So these are in between a 5A and a5B? Now, that is interesting. I seem to think that 5A's that i used from the start were a little thin but when i bought a pair of 5B's they felt like huge logs and were too thick. So i am actually gonna get set of these now and see what it feels like. Not available in the UK yet. Not even thomann in germany has em.
    I ended up with promarks by virtue of them being pretty much the onloy sticks that are available, with that active grip sticky substnace on them. I could have as a noob of 2 years now ended up with any stick to be honest but i do like promarks as they were my first sticks. Just my luck i chose the long taper as well. Not hat i knew what it did at the time.

    Hello Mr. Brown! Before my question, thank you for your helpful videos, my game improved a lot after your lessons. I noticed you were holding sticks a little lower than a "balance point" almost the ends. Is it giving any difference holding them like that or it's just your comfortable grip?

    • @RobBeatdownBrown
      @RobBeatdownBrown  2 місяці тому +1

      The whole area behind the balance point is useable real estate. I often hold the sticks back around the button because there’s a lot of leverage back there. Great for power. Rebound is easier at the balance point, but still possible from the butt end.

  • @saulmighty

    Cool, congrats to Larnell!
    But sadly, having tried Firegrain once I won't buy it as it hurts my hands a bit more than usual precisely because it's more hardy and thus the shock is not as much absorbed by the stick. (And yes, I use proper technique and don't grip my sticks too hard)
    It doesn't help that my hands are that of a piano player, maybe that's one reason!
    My go to sticks are Dave Weckl signature sticks from Vic Firth, btw.
