That said though, if you follow Russian fighter jet developments you should know that the Fulcrum series of jets have largely fallen out of favour over the Flankers.
I just adore the flag for this one. The compass/star/sun, with I'm guessing... earth, mars, maybe venus, and the 4 jovian moons?
Along with Earth’s Moon I bet
Reminiscent of the flags of the United Nations (see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_the_United_Nations ), NATO ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_NATO ), and United Federation of Planets ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Federation_of_Planets ), which was inspired by the former two.
Yeah, it's beautiful. I'd love a flag like that for a human global country.

Ah you moddified the oath from The united Nations of earth in the Actual Stellaris game. I salute you.
Sounds like UN from The Expanse, but just little bit more competent.

I gotta say, I love that Indian Secretary General from Expanse. Nothings better than a Boss Ass Bitch.
Laconian Empire has entered the ch- wait, no.

The GTU is the human future I would settle for. The UFN is the United Humanity I hope we can build and live up to every day.
how about the Antares?
@@nazreenpg It's very similar to the UFN, but in order to become what it turned out to be, it needs to live through the same history, therefore its existence conditions are way too specific to compare it to Earth-bound factions.
Utopian dreams for united Humanity are nice, but obviously impossible. Centralized governments always cause more harm than good, the only possible scenario for a united Humanity thats actually better than disunited Humanity is when there is an actual, external threat to Human existance that unites us, in all other cathegories uniting Humanity only creates a giant power structure that lacks competition, which creates an anormous levels of corruption, degeneracy and decay that will always lead to its catastrophic collapse. The only way a unified Humantiy could be a utopia is when each nations interest is equally represented by the federation and the federation itself doesn't have enough power over nations to create the unsustainable levels of corruption and decay.
Honestly, after the GTU I would totally go for a route like this. Overcoming our own hardships to pave way for a peaceful democracy.
Remember just one thing you can't impose democracy on every country
If you want peace than you should must respect people of other nations and their political beliefs.

In both cases, resistance would just die out after a couple of years.

@@xeanderman6688 pretty damn well! And the idea i had for an empire while high turned out to not be that bad!
I literally just watched your video on how to name your interstellar empire a few hours ago and noticed how you named your nation “The United Federation of Nations”, then I’m greeted with this in my recommended feed.
The Last Season had a Nation named Unided Federation of Nations as well. Marc likes that name very much!
@@shinyagumon7015 They're bringing back a lot of empires they worked on previously. The Solar one was mentioned before too.
I know this makes me sound vanilla and milquetoast, but I like "good" factions. And if this is in the same vain as the season 1 choice of the same (or similar name) that could be interesting. Seeing a faction try their best in a hostile universe, trying to uphold their ideals, not stray into moral greyness too much or something like that, with how the Terran Union came out, these guys can do some interesting stuff
I also like how the foundations for this government came out of desperate times. It's not something as simple as "humanity just decided to get along one day" but rather was created because humanity HAD to be better in order to survive.
Yes also that they possibilities of cracks forming in the faction is readily admitted. I never felt like a idea based civil war was likely to happen in the GTU. But here, yeah I can imagine a splinter group of humans doing their own thing. Several in fact.
having people not being so edgy is nice, like not trying to form a frakking space crusaders every 10 milennia or a-moral bugs, or space jarheads
Every now and then actually picking the *good* options
I whole heartedly agree with the O P.
Same. I feel like our culture is a bit excessive on the nihilism at times. I like a nihilistic faction as much as anybody - but having some actual people who are trying to be good guys and actually mean it is nice. Also more realistic - most people are in fact the heroes of their own story. There are plenty of people who are committed to higher ideals, and sometimes they find each other and make a new goverment.
And when that happens, those rare times, civilization advances for centuries.
We need a Master Chief equivalent hero for this empire
(Slams hand on desk)
MAKE IT HAPPEN.
I'd say it needs a Crisjen Avasarala as it's leader
Captain America?
Captain King?
Yes Master Chief 2.0 for the UFN
Honestly hoping we get this or a similarly "peaceful" faction for this campaign
No offense meant, but we can only have "Imperium Of Man Expy" so many times before it starts getting old.
Plus, with how bleak the world is right now in real life, I would really like to see something more hopeful and light-hearted.
Escapism is nice.
While grimdarkness and screaming "PURGE THE XENOS" are fine and all, it gets tiring after a while.
agreed.
I also agree
Aaaaaand on Twitter they said the UFN has the mitarist ethic. But also the diplomatic corps and parliamentary system civics. The UFN is not the UFP from Star Trek but more like the UN from The Expanse, or the UNSC from Halo, or the Systems Alliance from Mass Effect, it's the union of many powers, which exist, but are in competition only in the greater federation. It's an emergency government capable of all to defend humanity, but it will always employs diplomacy first, and it is not closed to diplomatic relations and open politics.
It will be really interesting to see it because it will evolve and change through the whole game.
One of the most interesting nations by far. It will be different from the endless wars and conquests of the Greater Terran Union.
I’ll wait to see the other options but for now I honestly wouldn’t mind seeing a season following a good guy democracy. Be an interesting switch from last season.
Isaac Wilcox
If I recall the GTU only did one genocide, and it was about as justified as it is possible for a genocide to be.
Allthenews ordeath I love the GTU but to call them good guys is a stretch. They were a fascist militaristic state that constantly waged wars upon there neighbors simply because they wished to dominate the universe.
They also had a strict social hierarchy for their people. If you ranked low on the hierarchy you had fewer rights.
@@isaacwilcox3010 At least, GTU isn't that strict social hirachy, anyone can move up if do some specific state requirement.

We need this for Season 3, after what we went through in the last couple of years. We need a bit of hope for the future.
Is this going to be one of those games where you start off with Star Trek optimism, and eventually due to the game's inherent weighing of opposing ethics, turn into Warhammer 40K where the UFN is totally surrounded by hostile alien powers determined to wipe out/enslave/devour humanity and has to become just as xenocidal to survive?
If I'm not mistaken it's in the same setting as the greater terran union, so no. everyone is going to be xenocidal from the get go, as it should be.
I'm actually thinking this to be more like the UN from The Expanse.
All sci-fi is just a prequel to 40k
@@102728 not the same man, from the sounds of both the name and what they have said its a restart
@Kato Ho Ten Soeng Democratic Crusaders would be cool
I wonder how the UFN will approach colonization. Will the colonies be considered as offshoots of nations from earth initially (and eventually later on form their own nations within the federation, a bit like in the commonwealth), or would they be considered as new-formed nations from the get-go (maybe being settled on join effort by various members of the federation)?
I was wondering something very similar. I was thinking that if it’s the Federations goal to upkeep national cohesion and quell any potential rebellion due to varying political factions, then it would probably be in their best interest to make several different colonies on each planet they settle, each representing a country or commonwealth that’s part of the UFN. That way no one country gains a political or economic advantage over others part of the Federation, possibly preventing future political or military conflicts between nations.
Unfortunately we will never know
Seems like a logical step for the United Nations and world governments to take in 100 or so years. I like the idea of this nation. Although it seems weak in comparison to the Terran Union. Although the United Nations itself is weak too. But, would love to see it's evolution to a true world government. Hail the United Federation of Nations. Love the symbol of the flag.
League of Nations (World Govt 1)
United Nations (World Govt 2, Electric Boogaloo)
United Federation of Nations (World Govt 3, Third time's a charm)
I always loved the idea of the federation, having grown up watching star trek, i deep downed hope, maybe one day, beyond my time here on earth, that mankind would grow out of its infancy and explore the stars. With everything going on right now, i think a hopeful play through is needed more then ever. the other factions are amazing and id love to see them all one day, but right now, U.F.N. is needed. please, vote for the U.F.N. everyone.

Hmm. This will be interesting especial with the introduction of federation DLC, we all start as a federation with two other alien species. Unfortunately, this may end up losing because people keep wanting war and extermination of other alien races. I hope this time will be different.
I personally don't like how the federation starts generate your allies. Often, either you'll cut them off from the rest of the galaxy, or they will. Also AI in Stellaris in generally retarded.
We had our fun with the GTU. Lets see something more humanizing for once yeah?
@@KillerOrca Im not against the United Federation. I am against the Common Grounds Origin. In the tight hyperplanes of Stellaris, having two expanding neighbors spawn right next to you is simply not ideal for the following reasons: Border gore, potentially cutting your allies off from the rest of the galaxy, lowered opinions from increased border friction, and did I mention border gore?
Lore wise, its a really cool idea.
Gameplay wise, it means border gore.
The problem with a federation with alien allies is that we already saw this with Star Trek.
@@maryjames8433 I made a custom empire leaning for diplomatic power above all, and they have the Common Ground origin. I love playing it and everytime I did, it was very cool because each member of the federation had a way to expand and grow, and allies if there was any hostile encounter.
I really like the Common Ground origin, but if you have the wrong spawn, you need to restart a game because it's not gonna be fun. It's the same thing with hegemony start, I made an empire with that origin, but EVERYTIME I tried to play it I got a wrong spawn and it's too hard to maintain your hegemony leader status if you have a bad spawn.
Hegemony would be cooler than Common Ground if you always had the best spawn of the empires, and you could block the others easier. Without it, I prefer Common Ground, more peaceful, chill, and easy to discover.
May the stars have mercy those who persecute, enslave and kill the innocent, and the tyrants of the who believe themselves above their own people. For the Federation will show them humanity's finest art: war.
or in other words DEMOCRACY IS NON NEGOTIABLE XENO. GLORY TO THE FEDERATION.
This might be the most realistic alternative timeline that may happen in real life.
This reminds me of the United Nations from The Expanse.
Edit: After watching the whole video, it definitely sounds like the UN.
Yeah, this really is very much like the UN from The Expanse!
Also: The Laconia Empire needs your location. Lol
It's a shame this didn't make it to season 2 but at least it was fleshed out more and hopefully may come back in season 3
I really hope this one wins. I can't vote, but the flag is beautiful, and the game will be as well. It doesn't have a background as good as the GTU history, or the Antares Confederacy background, but the influence the community will have on the game and the ever-changing political parties of the United Federation of Nations will make this empire the most interesting of the five propositions.
One thing people need to understand is that it's absolutely not the vanilla UNE, and not like the United Federation of Planets in Star Trek. It's not an utopia, it's not perfect, it is more like The Expanse's United Nations but more efficient, or the UNSC from Halo. It is the way Humanity chosen to survive, there remain poverty, and famine, but great changes came and are coming. Also, it is a military commissariat, and that's cool because it's not as peacefully boring as the UFP in Star Trek and the vanilla UNE. It's the real aspect of how I would have make the UNE as a Paradox Interactive developper, the union of humanity, which is trying to progress and prosper through unity, democracy, justice, freedom and equality, but it can strongly defend itself, and even conquest many worlds if it need to do so.
We are humanity, we're a curious species, but we can defend ourselves. We master our environments through our adaptability and our intelligence, and even on the edge of extinction, we'll unite to survive.
Unus pro omnibus, omnes pro uno.
Long live the United Federation of Nations !
From what I saw sadly it didn't win.
I don't know why but it seems like the Confederacy won...
@@Reactionary_Harkonnen Yeah that's sad. But anyway, the Antares Confederacy was my second choice. So that's still pretty cool
Season 2 was great. I bet the UFN is gonna be a faction option in every season onward, slowly building on its pilot story.
I quite like the UFN. Instead of tyranny, Mankind spreads FREEDOM AND LIBERTY across the stars. No one should suffer under a king, for every man and alien a king!
BREAK THE CHAINS!
I agree
Every man a king, every xeno in the ground.
Together, we prosper. Together, we rise. Through unity, we'll expand and build a great empire, we'll forge our destiny in the stars.
Unus pro omnibus, omnes pro uno !
LONG LIVE THE UNITED FEDERATION OF NATIONS !
You sure set the bar pretty high with this first civilization.
Can't wait to see what civilizations will compete with this one ☺
Dude we have way to many differences. Look at the more Multicultural West and it's literally falling apart in front our very eyes, cities are turning into crap the more diverse they get, and the people within the countries are becoming more and more divisive.
Now in the East they retained & maintained their Civilizations for the most part and are now looking back to their past to build their future.
If anything in the real life scenario it looks like we are living in the fall of the western civilization or maybe a big part of it maybe not all of the west but most of it.
In fact one can argue many parts of the West is already post Western while ironically Russia is a bit more capitalist, and much more Western than Britain, Canada, and America is at this point.
@@Reactionary_Harkonnen
I agree.
Indeed, multiculturalism hasn't exactly been that beneficial in keeping the West at least somewhat unified.
Not to mention how diversity hasn't been the "strength" so many claimed it would be.
There remain _some_ bastions of *actual* Western Civilization luckily though.
Still, there is a long time between 2020 and 2101, and when I look at the last 80 years I would say that *a lot* can change. So maybe things will drastically change before 2101 once more.
And Stellaris civilizations don't have to be realistic with the current issues, they just have to make for a good story. Which I think they do.
Personally, I’m hoping they go with a “good guy” faction this time around. That’s why I like the UFN.
Exactly. It's a great foil to the GTU.
Are you two implying that the GTU is the "bad guy"?
Your Citizen Tiers have been lowered by a factor of 2 (two) for displaying anti-patriotic behaviour. Good evening, citizen.
MrBomb2 GTU is not a bad guy, but its a "necessary evil"
Yeah, but the GTU wasn't "evil". They didn't pursue fascistic policies for the sake of doing it, but for tbe very pragmatic need of "we're on the brink of collapse and the Tyrum might come back to finish the job"
Although from an ideological point of view I would prefer this faction, due to much of the Stellaris fandom having a Warhammer 40k fetish, it would most likely be better to chose another. However I will still watch the other pilots before making any final personal choices in my head.
Again though, great video Templin.
I'm not make a decision yet I want to see the others
Although, for meme and epic-ness value, I love 40k playthroughs, I'm far too much of a softie to really play as the imperium, so I'll usually be egalitarian and have a mixed approach to diplomacy with generally a defensive approach.
But to get back to the point : I like this faction too from an ideological point of view, but I think it lacks something in terms of ambitions, it doesn't have much drives that would help define its culture, or its priorities.
Like, for the GTU you had protecting humanity, consolidating resources to protect humanity, and seeking out potential threats. This, in addition to the how the GTU came about, really helped in explaining why the GTU was how it was, really helped in giving the GTU remarkable features, and helped making the playthrough a story, because basically any action could be interpreted through this lens and it allowed for easy empathy with the GTU.
I don’t understand the love for Warhammer 40k. Every time I learn some knew dark and or depressing piece of lore of the grim darkness of the far future and the Lovecraftian enemies that besiege is and the barbarians that the human race has fallen to my only thought is “wow, how have you people not shot yourselves?
@@jbadger30 "my only thought is “wow, how have you people not shot yourselves?" "
And how they managed not to shoot themselves, as well as the fact that they even managed it, is precisely why so many people love 40k.
From what I've seen, there are many reasons why people like 40k, from merely the diversity of cultures and species, the nobility of some of them, the thrilling feeling of 40k's mix of hope and despair, the sheer scale and resulting epicness of it all, the fact that it's bordereline one of the best example of "humanity fuck yeah" in fiction, doubled with one of the best examples of "humanity you fucked up" in fiction.
And also because it really looks cool. That's probably one of the most important factors ^^
All joking aside (only the last sentence was a joke, but still), 40k is filled with really interesting contrasts in, and between the factions, contrasts of nobility and villainy, altruism and egoism, humanity and inhumanity, old vs new, which makes for a really interesting setting.
@@jbadger30 If you want to read some 40K lore that isn't stupidly miserable, try the Ciaphas Cain books. They do a good job of showing that outside the warzones,
there is hope within the Imperium

Damn Templin throwing us a bone 23 hours before!!!!!
This is the kind of sci fi we need nowadays. Much like Star Trek's United Earth (and Federation), we need something to grab... Something to show us that Democracy must survive. Must thrive.
This is similar to the nation I play all the time (I'm one of those folks who ALWAYS plays as humans). The Alliance of Planetary Governments.
Born from the harsh reality of the 22nd century, where nations fought over the scarce resources alloted to them, the seeds of the APG grew. Member states of the UN and the New Warsaw Pact constantly fought, but a single senator of the European Collective (Ireland, France, Germany, Spain, and most of the other nations of Europe who banded together in unison against a combined onslaught from a newly reformed Russian Bloc) had ideals beyond humanity.
In the year 2123 Humanity had found an object deep within the solar system, a gateway. While most nations were amazed, the overwhelming nature of modern day left is as an amazing discovery put entirely on the back burner.
The lone Senator, Elia Martinez, found a way to force peace. She contacted the heads of multiple nations space organizations and began to form a small but powerful group of likeminded intellectuals. Some of the wealthiest men and women on the planet, having long since becoming bastions for scientific discovery, joined Martinez's group, who had now begun to call itself The Alliance.
The Alliance did not immediately out itself to its various governments, but began to consolidate political power, and over the course of 35 years they slowly moved humanity towards peace by preying upon that most basic of human principles... curiosity.
While neither side would truly align, both the UN and the NWP agreed to temporarily halt hostile action and focus on joint study of the Gate. There humanity found a pathway to the stars, and the Alliance of Planetary Governments was born.
The APG, headed by Elia Martinez, would hold sole jurisdiction of human held space, while the governments of various nations and planetary bodies would be free to enact their own laws planetside. Additionally, the APG was granted authority to command the military forces of all member states should a crisis arise.
Now, Humanity had a new lease on destiny, and a will to see what was beyond.
Love the artwork you guys use for this series.
The art is just great. The entire Invikta series has some of the best art ever.
I'm rewatching this after a while (I've already seen both seasons of Stellaris Invicta, atleast twice), I would totally go for what is a fairly vanilla beginning. That means that instead of a devastating alien invasion (Greater Terran Union) or a colonisation flotilla making the best of the worst hand dealt (Antares Confederacy), the nation states of the UFN come to work together and slowly come to respect each other.
The one timeline in which the UN actually did something good.
A more realistic UNE. I love it
I would have gone with "And no tyrant beyond it's reach" instead of "No tyranny beyond it's judgement"
I actually wrote a United Earth Space Faring civ like this on my novel.
But tbh, you wrote their Background much better TI.
Keep up the gr8 work!
I want a mod of this for stellaris
I had no idea what to expect going into this video but this is pretty cool
According to the information on the website we will be able to create political factions on discord or during a stream and that these factions will have to work together, or not, in order to affect the future of the Empire. In other words we are able to make it less “vanilla” with time.
I would love to see more of the United Federation of Nations. D:
Out of all the invicta nations, this one is the most realistic of all.
yeah
Nah the one where humanity becomes a devouring hivemind is definitely the most realistic
The fascist dictatorship is looking more and more likely lol
Finally a stellaris series again!!
I love the UFN so far, very realistic. I think to differ it from the UNE in game it should be more martial than the UNE due to the amount of conflicts fought within its last couple centuries.
The GTN will always be first and foremost in my heart. Love the world-building, brilliant stuff!
U mean GTU?
I sense it will start democratic, join in with a galactic federation, and turned into the senate at one point.
There is some information on the nations in the descriptions.

Pretty cool, reminded me of the video about the "European supergrid", with the internal market talk.
Huh, both the United Federation of Nations and the Holy Solar Empire are options for revamped humans. Does this mean Season 2 doesn't take place in the same setting/universe as the Greater Terran Union?
Well, yeah.
Yeah that was pretty obvious. how would they continue the same storyline?

@@brandonpersaud5634 I mean, they ended the last season with the GTU starting to reach out to a new galaxy. I thought that was gonna be a setup for a galaxy with a GTU Fallen Empire or maybe a modded crisis event where the selections would be new alien empires in the galaxy.
Didn't expect them to start a whole new humanity.
Welp I already have a favorite and look forward to having more 😅
A better version of the UN has always been my ideal future. If I could vote, this may be the one.
This is gonna start at 3 am for me, during the duty week... I'm gonna hate myself at PT
I'm detecting a hint of the Universal Century in this one.
Question about the extra info given on Twitter, is this the style that the forms for the custom alien races will be?
So what do the irregular dots surrounding the star represent?
Glad to see you guys following up on your promise to give each of the theoretical nations some more time in the sun before everyone chooses.
@The Templin Institute when will we see more of this?
i think this is the best one out of them all
*then everything changed when the Tyrim Nation attacked*
I'm actually in favor of going for the UN-style government on the new Stellaris Invicta playthough this time around because of the new Federation DLC; having a strong diplomatic leverage is going to be key in uniting the galaxy and dealing with the end-game crisis.
Generic name aside, I'm actually interested to see a global democratic federation become the focus of Series 2 if only to see whether democratic ideals can still hold up in a Stellaris playthrough.
Unpopular Opinion: I like the United Federation of Nations. I will gladly devote my time to the protection of the UFN and Her colonies till the end of time.
Hey TI, will you ad in this playthrough's empire to the Stellaris Invicta mod, or will it be a separate mod?
That premier was awsome
If this gets voted, I'm hoping the Templin Institute decides to be 5d chess masters and make friends with the most powerful nations, annex most of the galaxy and do the ultimate checkmate by betraying those dudes. There will be no compromise of democratic ways.

A realistic approach to how a world government could be established and an interesting approach.
A nice contrast to the GTU, and which way it will take later if it will be Star Trek or GTU?
Already looking forward for the next video
I can’t wait to see the others
Why make them xenophiles or militarist instead of egalitarian? Is it to help them form a federation later on?
I would like to see a mod of this on Stellaris.
Ah, Marc's pet project from the Naming Your Star Nation video. We will be watching your career with great interest.
Ahh so good
Templin: Aight folks this is the last regular video for a while
Also Templin: *BECAUSE NOW WE'RE GOING BALLS TO THE WALL*
Y’all really gotta do it to us and reveal them so early
I;m curious, what does the ring around the star represent? And what star in the center does it represent? My head says Sol, but it could still be other star that UFN decided to headquarter themselves be.
Sol and the Planets and Jovian moons I reckon.
Earth and Luna, Mars, Venus, and Europa, Titan, Ganymede, and Io maybe? I’m blanking on my Jovian moons
Or Callisto instead of Io, that makes sense
This is one of my favourite stellar invicta prologue
The best part is that this video starts right when I clock out of work
This absolutely has my vote.
This is the one I'm voting for :D A nice change of pace from the dictatorial, xenophobic Terran Union.
So this is completely different from the greater terran union right? It's just under the stellaris invictus anthology or w/e?
I can see the Institute is using the name that was discussed as the most likely for a future united human government as an option. Also it'll be nice to have an unambiguously optimistic faction as the primary focus of season two, not that the GTU was a bad guy, just that I've always found that Starship Troopers, even the novel's version, is a pessimistic vision of humanity that even if I don't think we're all great is giving us too little credit.
One day under one flag we all going to shine bright
Interesting but I'm personally very excited for the Eternal Kreventum!
I sure hope this one wins. Last Invicta was run with GTU, a militaristic dictatorship. Hopefully we can get some change this time, instead of yet another "wah wah, kill everything" nation. Especially with the party roleplay system outlined in the infographic on their page, this could be an interesting series.
Sounds a bit like a civilian led Systems Alliance (Mass Effect).
this has my vote!
I like this one!
How is this faction different from the vanilla UNE?
Now I love if you made videos about the Holy Britannian Empire
"My allegiance to The Federation to DEMOCRACY!"
honestly despite being generic in science fiction I like it more than the previous ones. stellaris galaxy every two months is going to shit and it would be nice to find a faction that still maintains a white morale and does not fall or try to avoid falling before despair
If there's game info about these potentials on Facebook or Twitter or even your main site... you guys did a very good job of obfuscating it. 'Cause I can't find any detail about this one anywhere or no matter how hard I Google. I don't see why you can't link it directly if there's more to read.
