Great content, look forward to each one... Can you post a tanto tip and tip sharpening for single bevels...? I’m a fan of and use Tuffhead and Iron Will . Mahalos!
Pls do a tutorial on all the edges. You kind of did it in your last video but skipped over the front edges pretty quick. Please make a full tutorial sir!! Lol
Apparently, my timing was spot on this evening. Incredible job sharpening that head to a razor's edge. Have you considered selling your sharpening services? As in reselling broadheads that you have sharpened to your high standards? Just a thought. Thank you for the fine video
I sell the guides so everybody can own the level of sharpness they prefer and do it on their schedule instead of waiting for a 3rd party to sharpen them.
How long did it take to reach the first burr with 240 grit? I thought I had a burr at each step but I’m starting to doubt myself after testing with a rubber band.
Ever seen one of those jigs w the TPU plastic corner touching before the roller? One side of mine seems off but I’m brand new ever trim the frame to make sure roller is even?
If treated with Hornady one stop will the heads need to be resharpened over time if not used but only remaining in quiver exposed to the elements both indoor and out?
I bought this along with the set of 5 diamond plates, and went down to a piece of cardboard , but am still having trouble getting shaving sharpness. Without any tape, it’s only taking material off the back end of the bevel, so I had to put Lots of tape on the roller to get it angled properly to sharpen the leading edge. It probably took 40+ strokes to get a little burr, and it’s difficult to hold the blade flat to knock the burr off without removing the blade from the jig, and then re-aligning it again. I just can’t seem to duplicate the results in the video, no matter how long I spend on it. - frustrating!
Another great video as always! I've never shot or owned single bevel broadheads.... im thinking about trying them sometime. What single bevel broadhead do you recommend?
@@innovativeoutdoorsman5067 oh definitely good to know. Next 2 question what angle bevel is gonna do best (rotation and edge sharpness) and I seen VPA is a flat tire vs a point or tonto tip. Whichvstyle tip is gonna hold up better or or preform better?
@@bbmopar3834b There is not "Best" in rotation and sharpness is owned by the hunter. Always maximize the edge as best as you can or hire that job out. The flat tanto tip where the 2 bevel meet will not be a strong as a reground "V" tanto.
@Innovative Outdoorsman, I know diamond plates are not completely necessary but I was wondering if you could offer the grit ranges you go through and what brand diamond plates you prefer.
I use both diamonds and wet dry sandpaper in 240, 400, 800 1200 and 2500 grit followed by buffing compound. There is a long list of flat diamond hones available on line.DMT makes good ones.
Ron, I ended up ordering the single bevel one with the bleeder blades before reading your comment on the bleeder blades. I’m mainly shooting whitetail deer with them and figured the bleeders would give better blood trails. I don’t know if it’s a myth but I had heard that the single bevels leave less of a blood trail. That doesn’t make sense to me. Anyway. My questions after rambling is on sharpening the bleeders. Is it worth doing and can I use the same guide. I believe they have the same angle bevel.
you can try to sharpen the bleeders with the same 32 degree guide. Mine didnt have bleeders so I can say for certain what angle the bleeders are honed at. You may wish to call Bill at Iron will to confirm.
I’ve shot multiple deer with fixed blade. Only one with no bleeders, the deer died within 30 seconds… which was cool but, absolutely no blood and only a blood pool the size of a orange under where he was laying. Bleeders help it bleed. I can’t see them having many negatives except the noise. Which isn’t much. Maybe flight, but again.. isn’t much.
Your iron will came sharp? I'm highly disappointed in mine, I've been sharpening it for over an hour and still won't even cut paper. Like they forgot to put an edge on it. Out the box I could apply pressure and drag across my finger and it not do anything.
Love your videos! Have you ever shot Right Bevel, right helical even though your shaft rotates left. I want to shoot iron will single bevel but they do not make a left bevel. Any insight. Thank you
@@innovativeoutdoorsman5067 does it matter. Was debating on iron will. Can you let me know if it’s ok to order the right bevel. Love all your video. Sorry. If my arrow naturally spins left bare shaft. Is it ok to shoot right helical and right bevel. I just trust your opinion. Than I’ll order the heads
@@innovativeoutdoorsman5067 thanks for replying. You also mentioned “free handing” the small surface area on the other side of the tanto tip. How would you do that?
I had vented 100gr not single bevel come unscrewed as it passed thru a small deer/spine. Dead deer no broadhead on end of arrow. Iron Will won't replace my lost broadhead. Oh well!
70!!!! Wow!!! When you put the edge you did under the microscope I said "That's gonna go through a deer without it knowing it was even hit!".

Great video Ron. 70 on the sharpness tester is amazing.
Impressive head. Any guidance on sharpening the front angle/tip? As simple as turning the blade in the sharpener?
Hoping to see a Kayuga Pilot getting worked on your channel soon. Great channel you have here! 👍
Do you sharpen the tanto tip also?
Awesome video. Learned a lot, thank you

Very nice. I know it’s not a single bevel but anyway you could do a video showing a tooth of the arrow head? Great stuff.
I like tooth of the arrow as well but I hate sharpening them.
Wow!! Great Video sold on both!!
How about sharpening the tip? I see it asked Alot but didn't see the answer. Thanks
How do you sharpen the tanto tip
How do you sharpen the front edge? The part that makes first contact?
Where you get the 2500grit diamond
A great system for those in the USA. It is not sold anywhere else.
We have a Canadian Distributor. "Canadian Saddle Hunter"
Holy shit 70 thats. Nuts
How do you resharpen the tip and bleeders?
Man idk what I'm doing wrong but cannot get these blades sharp

Yes, I will publish that video on my channel next week.

sounds like you may have the blade protruding too far out of the jaws. Bring the blade into the jaws more.
How would a whetstone do with these?
Thanks,
What grain diamond plate is best to start with after shooting into foam target a few times
Is the kme sharpening system steep enough to sharpen this head?
Looks like one of those sodium bulbs you have for the roller.. They will hone a knife ..

iron will cutthroat, VPA, tuffhead. Look for quality steel. Avoid the soft steel out of Australia.

Excellent sharpening guide. I bought one last year and am very satisfied.
What could i do if i wanted to remove that line from breaking off the burr??
Lat the flat side (without the ferrule) on a fine grit and polish the entire flat side. see my other video ua-cam.com/video/QKjhTl8pFok/v-deo.html

Why the "no need for bleeders on a single bevel." Single beveld is totally new to me. Just wanting to learn all that I can.
The goal is rotation and slipping through the bone you just split. Adding a cross blade is just another obstical that impeedes rotation through bone
