- Check out this booth tour of all the Sideshow Collectibles statues at Wonderfest in Shanghai 2019! Products shown at the event included those from Marvel and DC Comics, Court of the Dead, Aliens and Predator, Friday the 13th, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Terminator, God of War, and Star Wars.

Really hope when the trade shows are back in full swing after quarantine that Sisko attends and does more of these videos. She really does a great job at showing off each piece.
I was blown away by that Doomsday statue. What a piece! Definitely my pick of the lot. Second place goes to Rogue, extremely well done.
Do you know if the artist made the sculptures? or they just painted them? They are way cool I painted some already made sculptures for my father Native American statues and a few other older folks they saw my father's statues and wanted me to paint there's I didn't really have the time but I made the time because it takes a lot of time and patients to do a good job.
I want to make a cement sculpture of a SASQUCH that the eyes will have light's in them so it can stand in a garden I will make a mold so I can sell them, I know they won't sell for cheap either not even the unpainted one's I make. It's all about getting paid for my time and the cost to make it.
I'm totally with you on the Rogue and X-23 sculpts. They're quality!
The last Superman , Green lantern, the 2 Batmans (Bale/Keaton) Wolverine, Spiderman , Magneto were awesome.

Yeah, I had to do some ducking and weaving haha! Honestly I have never been to a convention that was this busy before. It made filming really difficult so I didn't get quite as much footage as I wanted. But it was an amazing convention with so much stuff to see.

That would be cool to have a museum of a bunch of Diorama that everyone that can put there work on display and charge entry fees that could pay the artist to build and make more Dioramas of diffrent set ups. I know I would pay a fee to see awesome artists art work they worked hard to build.

Yeah, it was a really weird mix of things. I'm guessing the booth was organised by the Sideshow Chinese distributor and they might have been trying to clear old stock. I was really hoping to see some newer pieces.

I noticed that the Phoenix statue is slightly at an incline. This is likely due to the weight of it resting on a single peg on her leg. I have that statue and am experiencing the same issue. While the dynamic poses look great, they're not meant to last. I have a wide array of statues that lose their balance over time because the entire weight is placed upon a very small pressure point.
I'm sorry to hear that. We pay a premium for these products, so it's reasonable that they shouldn't have these sorts of problems.

Thanks! Yeah, I was really hoping to see some of the new pieces as well. They might be saving them all for SDCC, but it's difficult (and very expensive) for me to get all the way to the US to attend.

The Reborn Superman costume is the best Supes costume ever. So modern and classic at once.
The statue is a fine representation.
The trousers look is dated. The New 52 look was too edgy and busy.

The reborn suit was a great improvement - albeit a short-lived one - for the next generation.

LOL! That's pretty much exactly what happened.
Anybody else think that life-size wolverine bust looks terrible? It's lacking so much detail for the size. For example, no stubble. Even the smaller wolverine has some.
Good point, I didn't even think about the lack of stubble. I don't really like the grin on that bust personally. It's a little overdone imo.

That's a tough choice, I prefer the sculpt on the XM Magneto but it's not the classic colours. I would probably wait until someone makes a Magneto that I love the whole thing.

Yeah, I noticed Wolvie's claws were bent as well. He must have got banged up in shipping or something. The paint on Loki was definitely not the best either. The pieces that impressed me the most were Rogue and X-23.

Some companies do that much better than others.
They should keep in mind presentation of the prototype counts as much as final product.
If they have a bad showing and a bunch of fans see futzed-up product, the chances are they'll sell far fewer statues in the end.
I kind of hated pre-ordering things like this TBH. You never knew what you would get even if you saved 35-40% off in pre-order price. Depending on the company, there could be serious quality control and paint issues.
I had at least 1 or 2 pre-orders cancelled by HONEST comic shops because the statues arrived with breaks in pieces of them! There was an animated (JLU) Green Arrow statue with a bow that tended to get broken in shipping because it was a vulnerable thin piece. I had to pay more from a comic shop to get a statue that hadn't been broken!
On the other hand, I've seen previews of statues I KNEW I wouldn't get because I HATED some aspect of the statue. There's a famous Ralph McQuarrie Star Wars painting of an early version of Luke fighting a prototype Darth Vader (not final armor) that was done up as a statue. It was molded in plastic and was a Kotobukiya(sp?) release. I DIDN'T like the way the plastic looked for the blades of the lightsabers (which were yellow and light violet in the concept painting; they just looked like solid-core stir sticks to me in the statue!) so I passed on it even though the statue represented one of my all-time favorite Star Wars paintings. It's just next to impossible to recreate lightsaber blades in plastic. Maybe if they did it as fiber optics with an LED effect? I've seen that done with phaser effects from lit Starship kits and that has worked out well. However, with a statue, the electronics would just make it more expensive with the fiber optic prone to cracking, too.
So true. With the pieces the other companies brought to the show, I wouldn’t be surprised if SS’s pieces put them off & they’d rather spend their hard earned dollars elsewhere
