I see this video is over a year old so you have probably got more info on the plow. I was the design engineer on that plow when it was introduced in 1987. I believe the 9 bottom is still available new. Gave me a few goose bumps during your walk around.
That's pretty cool....I was not able to use it this year as the weather didnt permit. I'd love to know more about it, as I have used this style of plow before.
Those Steigers are the best 4wd tractors ever made. I did run a Case 4894 for some friends and that thing was pretty good too. Pulled way better then I ever imagined.
Fantastic collection of older articulating iron....no egr.no dpf, no scr....these machines will run forever!!!! Your three big machines are awesome Northern Farmer!
When we used to farm we would farm with our neighbor and double up on everything we did it was good for him since he only had daughters who didn't care for farming but they were sure pretty lol
My great gramps used to own a farm in serrento and the is still there p.s the reason why he sold it is because to many people came to the farm each year)
I was checking your weather in the area and it looks like you have a storm coming! The one I looked at said ten to twenty cementers. When your winter comes in it does it big time!!! Thanks again for sharing your video.
Awesome video, nice tractors. Seeing the John Deere 95 combine brought back some great memories. I rode countless hours with my Grandfather on a 95 when I was younger. Thank you for sharing your video.
I can imagine the long Canadian winters, as ours is not as cold as yours nor as long in PA., USA. but of the seasons, I'd take summer anytime. It seems every place you live, even a tropical paradise has its draw backs. Thanks for the video Tyson, I always love seeing the large equipment and I did catch a glimpse of Suki the dog.
snow, real ground covering snow. you win first channel I watch with ground covering snow. nice new plow and I want to see it roll some dirt next year. thanks
On land plowing must be nice!. As for me I just follow the furrow. Surprised tractor companies never made a compansating seat. Leaning sideways all day ain t fun... At least winter cold kills the bugs... Thanks Robert.
I guess you in Alberta like me never had good fall at all it been to wet for most of the fields hope it feazes and finishes up then we have switched to tracks thinking it may help us with not getting stuck but the combines had and other an idea then we did they needed to be pulled out was will my great grandparents said only one other time they heard of this bad the horses and wagons were stuck have to in late 1890 both are in there 100's now we just found the old barn and a house last year clearing trees off of the far quarts we drop the back end of the truck into the well. was hand dig to all we know about it was in the winter the farm was burned
Liked, Disk looks kinda like a Taylor Way disk we had back in the early 80's only lighter. Is it? Also like the new Deere plow. Look forward to seeing it in the field.
We had a 3600 7 bottom. It was a good plow. We then bought a 3710 9 bottom. We could not stop the hitch and frame from cracking. We actually pulled the hitch comepletely of twice. The 3600 also left the field much smoother than the 3710. Got rid of it after just one year and bought a kverland 10 bottom and have never looked back
If I recall the old marketing materials I saw for the 3710, some had the option to hydraulically change the width of the furrows. The one you bought does not look like it was built that way. Either way, it will definitely turn some dirt.
Was actually a horrible plow. I went from owning Whites to 2 different John Deere plows of that model, look well built but we're horrible to keep moving without failing. Went back to whites but we hardly plow anymore
WHAT SNOW might as well be here.hr north albany ny.its just wet hasent stoped raining over a month. Hope u got all crops up? 40s 50s latley here.well fine then.time to get snowmobiles ready.
Hey you can keep that crap up their all winter lol... I'm at 55°F right now in east central Illinois... Nice plow... Almost makes 2 of your other plows... Does it have 3 different hydraulic hookups? Like drop the nose in Then the center and then the tail end? I'm not sure how the bigger plows work to be honest... Its been since the 80's that this land has even been rolled over with a plow here...
@@Northern_Farmer so you can keep your head land kind of even and not jagged like shark's teeth I'm assuming... I personally have never run one so I'm just guessing... COSBY in a can... Lmao....... I'm stealing that one hahaha
What's your thoughts on the results of different tillage types for redoing the hay ground, i.e. Plow vs Harrow/Chisel vs No-till/w chem burn? Just curious if you have experimented in the past and what kind of results each had that led you to using the plow for tillage.
Depends on the type of ground to...but I have used heavy discs chisel plows and plows....plows still make the ground the easiest to get to a seed bed the quickest
GaryHarris48 I believe in the future a tractor manufacturer will start up making strong simple tractors with no bloody computers and crap for a reasonable price .
I was taught (when we bought our first and only diesel) that when it cold started you walked away and let it warm without reviving the engine. Was that wrong? or changed?
I too heard that you should not plow under snow but never heard why. I did it one year but don't recall being overrun with thistles. Maybe I was lucky!!
Northern Farmer -- I enjoy your vids. I have a question though. Do you brush the plow shares down with used oil or grease when you put them in storage for the winter? Dad always did that on our Iowa Farm when I was a boy back in the 60's and 70's, and in fact he delegated that job to me. LOL. We just used an old straw broom and a five gallon bucket of used oil and brushed the shares down with that oil. It kept them from rusting over the winters.
Do farmers just leave large pieces like plows out in the elements for the winter? Are they designed to survive like that? Do they come with custom tarps to cover them? Just very curious!
No..try to put some things away but we just dont have the buildings to put them in. Plows and tillage equipment is not bad to be outside ..but things like balers and combines should be under cover
Farming is a hard job to begin with but farming in Canada. Is a bigger battle due to cold weather. Can lose your shirt at the drop of a hat you guys definitely earn every dollar you make that's for sure
Good day Boy that video shock me. I didn't hear anything on weather about snow ou there. But if it comes our way,I will never watch any of your videos again. LOL Thanks

always made me nuts we spend more on some pieces of equipment than you do your trucks and leave them out all winter to rust them and turn the hydraulic lines to toast. It was 7 degrees last night.

This is the third snow of the year...but this time its staying

Dammit shawn!! You ruined it for us folk who love cold starts lmao! Maybe next time :p

Great stuff! Great equipment too!

Good video right there. What kind of horsepower is needed to pull that 9 bottom plow?
Same thing going on here. We were going to put edge on with the heavy harrow. Not now. This is next year country again.
yup
Really like your 9250.
That keeps you busy for a while
The snow contains a lot of nitrogen. In Sweden it is called bonus fertilizer.
Snowing cool
Very nice, for some reason I did not remember you got a Steiger, nice tractor
yes... we bought it a few years after we got the old smokey
We had that same model plow. Hope it works better for you than it did for us.
What kind of problems did you have?
We had a 3600 7 bottom. It was a good plow. We then bought a 3710 9 bottom. We could not stop the hitch and frame from cracking. We actually pulled the hitch comepletely of twice. The 3600 also left the field much smoother than the 3710. Got rid of it after just one year and bought a kverland 10 bottom and have never looked back
I should add we like to plow between 800-1000 acres each year
If I recall the old marketing materials I saw for the 3710, some had the option to hydraulically change the width of the furrows. The one you bought does not look like it was built that way. Either way, it will definitely turn some dirt.

How much on the breaking plow ?
Great video
Thanks!
Wow, those tractors are massive.
They are actually mid size tractors
I'm still impressed.
You wanna see s Biggin, go check out big bud
you go from hot to cold fast!!!!
Yup... we were lucky to have that good weather to finish up harvest last week...Normally we should be done by the beginning of Oct
we are still in this rain pattern thats killing my hay making

so far for the year 54 inches

How much did you give for the disk ?
