Cory Wong is basically my Yoda. Like, for real. Been going through a rough patch with anxiety and general figuring myself out, and Cory Wong's philosophy (that he not only talks about but actually lives) is real-life Stoicism. He makes everything look easy and fun. He never frames difficult experiences as horrible, instead he always focuses on what he learned from each experience. What a wonderful student of life, and he wears life very well. Thank you, I received the message of positivity!

I know this probably won't be seen but I was inspired to share. Most people do not understand the pure power of music and what it can do for humanity. The power of music brought me out of a very dark place. I was contemplating suicide. My wife of 48 years suddenly passed I thought I had nothing to live for. I put on a piece of music it affected me so powerfully that i broke down and had the most gut-wrenching cry since my wife passed. It was what I needed to complete the mourning process. It was an instrumental. I have been a touring musician for 51byears now. I always understood how power full music was, but not to that extent. Sorry to be so wordy but I hope someone who really needs these words somehow reads this.

I always was wondering where are the young guys that will become the future of the Funk & Groove.
I was wondering who would be taking the witness of so many guitar heros.
I pray for more young guys like him come to the scene. We need them.

What Cory says about just plugging a good guitar into a decent amp and that's all you need for a good sound is so true. I play guitar and bass and at guitar gigs, I never used any effects, only a good guitar plugged into a reasonable amp. Nothing special amp-wise (a Roland 60 watt bass amp from memory). After gigs, people used to come up to me and ask what special equipment I was using to get my sound! I'd reply with pretty much what Cory is saying: start with a good guitar, grab a lead, plug the guitar into an amp, and away you go. He's is also right that if you want to sound good, you need to practice, practice, practice. No avoiding it. So start woodshedding!

False, piano tone is not in the hands since your hands never actually touch the strings of the piano. You touch a key which hits a hammer that creates the "tone". Sure you can hit a key a bit harder or softer but you can't directly affect the tone. Guitar on the other hand, your hands are touching those strings directly and causing the sound to reverberate. You are in complete control of the instrument and even the intonation. But I get what he is saying :D
