Oh my God this video was amazing. It gives me more hope and more chances for me to go out there for the first time. Hey guys quick question what caliber you guys are using?
The only thing I’ll say besides congrats on the hunt is that the first buck shot in the video, the 3rd shot was with the buck sky-lined and that is definitely not a shot you want anyone taking for safety reasons.
Guys let’s practice some muzzle control. Holy smokes. I figured this video should have been titled “watch how many times I can point a gun at my friends”. And don’t hold it by the barrel and use the stock as a hiking pole on the side of a hill 🙈. If one of my buddies pointed a gun at my back that many times it would be his last trip.
As a MT resident, It’s funny to see how upset these MT residents get about “no big deer!” when all they have to do is get their asses out of the truck once in a while.
@@PNWild This isn't just something to get better at. This is a no exception basic firearm handling rule. Be an adult, or at least don't post this garbage online.
First, excellent video, nothing as cool as mule deer hunts in the snow, it really makes stunning videos and photos. I know it’s not easy, but you made it look like it was easy. The comment you made comparing WA and Montana are spot on. I’ve hunted most of my life in WA, until 5 years ago. I really grew tired of the poorly run WDFW, where politics and activism has made it less appealing and expensive. I now hunt for 4 days in the SE corner of Montana ( powder river ), and the next week just a stones throw away in Wyoming.Over the last 5 years I have tagged huge Mule deer, Whitetail deer and Pronghorns each year. I’ve only seen other hunters at the main roads, but I have never seen a single hunter in the field. I never have to go to far back to get into critters. The only times I get really far back is because sometimes it’s so open up there you don’t realize just how far you’ve gone until you turn around. Once you go to Montana and Wyoming, you’ll never look at deer hunting in WA the same way. When you think about it, you can spend a ton of money hunting WA and because of the poorly managed populations, winter kill ( 2016 ) and disease… chances are you’re gonna come home to tag soup. God bless and shoot straight.
It's funny to hear you guys talk like that about Montana, because I've been living and hunting here for 20 years and it's going to shit. Sure you can find dinks like these guys shot, but the big bucks are few and far between. I'm sorry but that third buck is just a mediocre buck. I've passed about a hundred bucks like that here. We used to see a couple monsters every year. By monster I mean 180+. Now they're just not getting a chance to grow because guys don't pass on the dinks. Is a 150 buck a monster in your book? It shouldn't be, but it seems all I see is bambi in out of state plate trucks.
@@nt3523 I see that as well. I made it a habit to only shoot 180+ bucks, the area I hunt is full of 5+ year olds. I hunt on private land, and my friend down there only allows me to take the big boys. Here in WA, there are a few exceptions, but for the most part people take only “dinks”, for dinks are the only thing you see. I primarily hunt for food, but I pass on small bucks, thus meaning I eat tag soup often. That’s why I hunt on Montana and Wyoming.
If you people would quit coming to montana and shooting all the 2 and 3 year old bucks we could actually get some decent bucks around again. What a shame.

I agree about the skyline shot but once you hit an animal it doesn’t matter if they are walking or not, your only responsibility is to safely get more lead in them.
So much hate in these comments, we’re all in the same community as hunters… it’s really sad behavior from yall who are being so rude to these guys for putting in the effort and time to hunt. You know how many people come to WA to hunt? A lot and we don’t get like this.
I have so much more respect for you guys for shooting one of those Yotes. It's one thing to shoot all the deer you are seeing but it's important to manage and balance the predators for the rest of the herds as well. Thanks for a sharing a great hunt!
I see alot of people dumping on these guys so ill give a different perspective. Coming from the southeast and moving to the pnw I consider a 2-3 year old buck to be a truely impressive deer compared to what I grew up hunting. To get bigger deer or stay away from the common hunters shooting LEGAL deer, why not go deep? Or do like we did back home and buy land to keep your herd managed to the standard you want. Ultimately i believe if the state deems it legal and you trust in your local conservation policies then this shouldnt be doing much damage to the deer herd.
Great hunt but honestly the first kill was unethical you shouldn't be shooting at a deer that is sky lining over a ridge if you would have missed he has no clue where the bullet would have went this isn't irresponsible shot thankfully he hit the target but there's no way this is an ideal hunting shot you never want to shoot beyond what you can see like I said this is not an ethical shot at the skyline especially after making two bad shots before you guys can do better than this. ..,
