So cool to see that scene thriving again. I'm one of the OG trail builders from that area (turning 50 this year). Back when it was P.O.S.T. land we built the original EGDH and Girl Scout trails. Then about 15 years ago the land was turned over to regional patks and everything got bulldozed, the most beautiful jump trail flattened. That killed the scene for years. I moved away 7 years ago. Awesome to see the next generation of trail builders putting shovel to dirt. Keep it up!
That's awesome! Girl Scout trail is what made us check out Half Moon Bay. We thought maybe it was like Boy Scout trail in Pacifica. We then explored and found out how many great trails Half Moon Bay has. The trail builders have done an amazing job.
@@slowerwithdonuts that's where I got the name idea from lol. The idea was a tamer version of Boy Scout. It got built up pretty nicely in it's prime with some 5-6' tall lips and a couple 15-18' gaps sprinkled with smaller jumps and drops. There was about 9 or 10 features top to bottom.
I rode Sarlacc a couple week ago and hit my bottom bracket/tube, I didn't know about the change! I didn't crash, but it was a WTF moment! Nice job dropping it, I hope I will have the same confidence next time. To tell the truth, I am a little freak out after that experience, I am taking a friend the next time, a little scary solo.
Luckily I was told about it first, otherwise I would have done the same thing. I didn't show it in the video, but I rode up to the edge 4 times before I finally went for it. Hopefully your next ride goes smoother.
Yep the entrance to Sarlacc’s had gotten rounded and was no longer a proper drop. It is a entrance exam, if you can’t ride the entrance you need to pick a trail more appropriate for your ability’s. 😎
It depends on what you ride in Pacifica. The Half Moon Bay trails are less about massive jumps and more about trails that flow with some steep descents. Well, the Sarlacc trail has a steep drop to enter and leave. The climb up in some parts is like the fire road climb to the Crack in Pacifica.
I hit the smaller jumps in Pacifica but not the bigger ones. It’s one of my favorite places to ride. Are there any smaller sized or any jumps at all where your at in HMB? I just saw your video and wanted to try something different that is still challenging and fun. I’m not the strongest climber, first ride of the season and will probably be riding solo if I go tomorrow. With your video and trail forks do you think I’ll be able to find my way around solo, and have a good time? Appreciate your responses.
@@HD-on2egPacifica was my go-to for weekend rides; now I prefer Half Moon Bay. With the trails listed on Trail Forks, you shouldn't have a problem finding your way around. It's worth it; you should have fun, even solo.

@@paulwintermute1495 I don't think it's as built up now. Its a fun trail but definitely Tamer than Boy Scout.

Yesssssssssss Super yesssssssssss!!!!!
What’s the best app to find good MTB trails?
I think Trail Forks is the best for bike trails.
How would you rate these trails compared to Pacifica? Thinking about checking it out tomorrow.

@@HD-on2eg There are some jumps but nothing big. It's still a challenging ride.
