I've been mountain bike riding for a long time, but I've never reach the point where I can hit crazy jumps. I know it's all a mental game, but my fear holds me back. I like seeing other people's video's before I ride a trail for the first time. When the rider in the video is at a similar skill level as me, I find it much more useful. Hopefully other people will find my video's helpful before they ride a trail for the first time. The video's are from the San Francisco, CA Bay Area mountain bike rides.
Hobo Trail - Tamarancho - Fairfax, CA - MTB
I haven’t been on a bike ride in about three weeks. Since I was in the area, we decided to take a quick ride down Hobo Trail in Fairfax, California. I was riding my analog bike, but I think I prefer the handling of my Santa Cruz Bullit.

Nice work on the drop and the jump!!
That’s my goal for this year. Also, next time I won't go around that log.
@ you got this 💪
Hey man Where is the parking lot for start this trails
Quarry Park. El Granda, CA
Did this a couple of times last weekend. First time I did Harmony (east to west) Trail & really enjoyed that one. Ran into another dude who felt the same, as we had both just done Hoot, too.
Yea, the trails in Nevada City are some of my favorite!
What brand is the GPS unit you are using?
I don't have a GPS unit. I think what you're seeing is the display for the e-bike. This just shows speed based off the motor.
I'ts spelled "Dead Kamper" know your Santa Cruz history
Good to know. What is this history you speak of?
Nice! Looks like it just rained there recently.
We had perfect timing; there was a small amount of rain early in the in the morning. Just enough to keep the dirt down.
Nice! Rode that with some quickness!
It's a good trail for speed! Next time I'll work on going faster in the corners.
Awesome work on the jumps!!!
@@singletrackbandit I like the jumps on this trail, they're at my level.
It's not Half Moon Bay!
The traction looked minimal on that trail, all the leaves likely didn't help! Would probably be pretty fun after some rain.
Rain would definitely help! I think the more I ride it, the better I would get. Like at 1:11 when I went too far to the right, if I had known what was around the corner, I could have tried to stay on the left side.
I faced the same thing on Mt. Tam. Ugh… rocky and so many loose rocks. The trial I am talking about is Eldridge Grade Fire Rd. A real eye-balls rattler. However, the trail you’re on looks like an eye-ball popper-out!😮
Yea, the GoPro really doesn't show how rocky and steep the Mile is. I used to make it down without stopping; my goal is to get back to that.
You are miss leading your audience by asking them to donate to @coastsideonbikes they have NOTHING to do with the trails you mentioned Area 52 or Mamba. Those we're built & are maintained by other's. Please check your resources / Facts prior to asking for $
My understanding was that @coastsideonbikes worked on EG Bus. It sounds like you are in the know, so I'll check with you. Who should I link to?
😂
Thanks for the trail updates. I really like the new drop you added towards the end-it’s just challenging enough to help me improve without being intimidating.
I think this was the day I ran into you guys! It was cool meeting you all. Hopefully I’ll see you all around again soon.
Yea, that was the same day. It was great meeting you. I’m sure we’ll see you again, we ride there all the time.
It was great meeting and riding with you Sean!!
Where do you park then ride? Thank you.
You park at Quarry Park. Here is the Trailforks link for the first trail. www.trailforks.com/trails/eg-bus/
It's an interesting trail system; there are so many ways down.
Posting a video on UA-cam of illegal trails in some one else’s town is the lowest of low
Thanks for your comment; it helps boost this video and spread the word about the trails.
Damn! Someone put some time into that trail!! Looks like a good time!
It was my favorite trail at Northstar.
Down hill gets tiring quickly I get that too
Glad I'm not alone on that.
Nice sound effects!! 😂
Thanks; after I did the first one, I realized I had to call myself out.
Dream of going
It's so worth it.
Nice berm action
super rewarding.
I love all the wood structures.
Nice! One of my N* favs!
I agree Gypsy has a little of everything, and if you ride it enough you can really increase your speed.
Keep it up!
way too many darn rocks lol
yea, my arms got tired by the end.
Nice work on that rock roll feature!!!!
Thanks, It doesn't look that big in the video, but I'm glad I tackled it.
At about 1:09 in the video I catch you doing the drop.
One of my favorites at N*
Yeah, it’s a really good trail. I should’ve gone more than once. The first time was really to see what was there.
All that chunk looks very rough
in a good, fun way. 😁
2x in my 60 life.. I'll be back!
That's awesome!! I met some ridders that were 65 and they were amazing, I hope to someday be as good as them.
💯
Dang chunky good job
Piece of cake
So true I could have used a slice of cake at the end.
Nice vid! That rock waterfall is no joke!
I’m glad I tried it. I hope next time I find a good line and complete it without falling.
Comical how flat the camera makes it look. Spoiler: It is not flat.
@@fgiraffe8751 100%
Very true was there on this past Sunday.
Crazy it's still over grown. I thought as we got further into the summer things would just die off.
@@slowerwithdonuts me too. Wasn’t like that last year😫
This trail broke my confidence last year
Before we started, I was told you didn’t enjoy it. It’s much harder than it looks. I also made the mistake of waiting until the end of the day, once my confidence was already broken from crashing earlier in the day. I do want to ride it again, and now that I know what all my mistakes were, maybe I could do better.
Its looks similar but it was Bogbone that we rode.
@@singletrackbandit Got it. Screw both of those trails :)
@@midpackmtb 🤣 maybe it was the rain the day before but the conditions weren’t as bad as when we rode them.
You up for a ride on the north side tomorrow? 3Donuts.
if it wasn't for the 2,800 miles that separate us I would totally go for a ride tomorrow with you.
Nice to see these in daylight. Have only ridden these trails at night
Wow, that's next level. I've never thought of ridding any trails at night, but I am intrigued.
@@slowerwithdonuts Invest in good lighting. There is a whole new level of focus when riding trails at night. So much fun. Also pretty important not to ride unfamiliar trails at night by yourself. I rode with a local guy the only two times I've been there.
I think you owe me a donut.
I forgot why, but I'm sure I do!
Such a fun trail!!!
Glad we had the e-bike so we could ride it more than once.
That's a workout
I was exhausted by the time I got to the bottom. The heat didn't help.
Love ur bike
what is the address? how do i get here please
Go to www.trailforks.com and search EG Bus Trail - El Granaday, California and you will get everything you need to know.
The second half of "99 bottles" is Girl Scout. I dug that trail out of the eucalyptus forest 15 years ago when it was POST land. Old timers can remember EGDH before it got bulldozed. That trail was like a freeride park. Good to see the community putting in all the work to bring the network back to life.
Thanks for the information; I always thought Girl Scout started near Sarlacc. I’ve made note in the time code, and I’ll change it on future videos. I rode with @singletrackbandit , and he found the Girl Scout trail and thought maybe it was like Boy Scout in Pacifica; that’s how we discovered the area.
Thank you 🙏🏼
Where do you access these?
If you ride along to ride towards the mile. It’s on the left before that.
Have you ridden the Historic Old Colma road?
Is that one you ride to the top from Pacifica?
@@slowerwithdonuts yeah I think it's all called old Colma, but this one starts at the top but drops into the devil's slide north lot. It's on some maps but not on others.
@@janmaly1591 I wasn't thinking, yes I know that trail. I've taken it several times. Here is a video I posted on it. ua-cam.com/video/3Ce8sQmOgO8/v-deo.html
@@slowerwithdonuts nice, thanks.
Nice trails, should try those. Have you had any trouble accessing Bay area trails with your Emtb? I seen couple of trails forbid emtbs but people still ride them. I need an emtb for those climbs)
Not yet, but i know some trails don’t allow them such as Skeggs Point.
@@slowerwithdonuts today there happens to be a thread on r/mtb about soquel and emtbs. Interesting opinions.
Thanks for the heads up. I’ll take a look. This video was also captured before I tightened the headset which made a significant difference, but there is still rattling in my current videos on rougher terrain, but not nearly as bad as in this video.
What bike are you riding?
I want to go down that so bad!!
But not bad enough to go do it?
It's worth it.
Gnar
Going tmrw plus camp ,first time 🙏🏿
@@chip9832 It's super fun, but watch out for all the cow droppings, they are everywhere.
Nice riding! I need to venture out eastward!
It's a great park with lots of trails.
That’s such a fun trail!!!
They are my favorite two trails there.
