    Robin Williams always spoke so highly of her. He loved her so.

      She had done Marion the librarian in Music Man at Muny Opera and did Mabel in Pirates of Penzance on Broadway as a replacement

    It's a shame Dawber didn't pursue a stage or singing career after Mork & Mindy. Such an amazing voice, just as good if not better than Jane Powell, Shirley Jones, Kristen Chenoweth, etc..

      She was sweet...and cute...and a "good" singer...but she doesn't have any of the stage presence of those other SUPERSTARS! I saw Dawber in Pirates in L.A...and she was fine...serviceable. Even on Mork and Mindy...she just was just..."fine". Not the best actress...but certainly not the worst....just pretty enough...but never spectacular. Of course, she didn't get much chance to shine doing scenes with Robin Williams, did she??
      She's had a more-than adequate career - but even on My Sister Sam, she's one of the blandest sitcom leads ever...while everybody around her is much funnier. She just never....shone.

    whoever directed this special never did Theatre, they have a set behind them, and make little to no use of it, with any staging to enhance their gorgeous voices with decent acting abilities. it's a shame with a Director using the set and staging this number it could have had a magnificent sense of joy, playfulness, lovely qualities. As is this is enjoyable to listen to, and both performers are pleasing on the eyes, but think of the heights they might have hit.

      @@ChrisB-bg5rh Hmmm..maybe. Depends on when this show aired in 1982. Does anybody know what this was?? Can't find anything about it...under "Steve Allen", "Loretta Swit", Scheider...Dawber...nothing! @@bradyguy7701 well the Dukes went on into 1985 with Bo and Luke, so this 1982 production would have been during. (presuming the original poster was correct and this was 1982)

      @@ChrisB-bg5rh Yeah...sorry. My post was confusing. This was DEFINITELY during the "Dukes" run - as you said, from 1979-1985...but if it was EARLY 1982..then Schneider would have STILL been on DOH. But if it were LATE 1982, then that's when Bo and Luke were "off driving Nascar", and our favorite OTHER cousins were flying around Hazzard County in the General Lee!! But I'm still trying find out about this musical TV special...

      @bradyguy7701 5 місяців тому

      Well...if you're responding to your OWN question about the ORIGINAL Broadway production, you're wrong. It WAS Drake and Roberts, as someone answered. Keel was a REPLACEMENT on Broadway, and originated the WEST END production....Jones was obviously in the movie...in her film debut. Keel and Jones did NOT perform together. And let's not forget my girl (Check the screenname) Florence Henderson - she was Laurie on Broadway in 1953...playing the role two years before her good friend Jones....so Mrs. Brady beat Mrs. Partridge!! Whoohoo!!
