    Very nice. You might want to mount everything onto the 'Coop Deville.' Then you can move everything all together and then park the coop near the fence and run your wires over. You could even use a swivel mount so you can adjust the panel to the sun no matter which way the coop is facing.

      I didn't even notice that. Had to go back and check the video. Yep, nice haircut, Troy! And good work on the solar energizer and coop graphics.

    Mount the panel Energizer and battery in a old garden wagon with a ground rod you put in ground and pull out and put in wagon to move. Worse case you can also pull it with a 4wheeler or something.

    Great work! At some point you need to mount the panel battery and charger to your coop One less thing to move every week. Panel could be mounted so it could be rotated toward the sun. To power the fence you can use regular poly braid to the fence using a plastic post or two to keep it off the ground or get some insulated wire designed for electric fence voltages and lay it on the ground. Then every time you move all you have to do is turn it off and pull the ground rod

    One word of advice is to block up the charge controller to get it off the bottom of the battery box this will help keep any battery acid leakage and/or H2O from getting in to it. I know its a cheap controller but i have had 3 now 2 similar ones and did the same thing as you in a battery box with my 1st and it only lasted about 6 months took it apart and inspect it was full of corrosion from acid and H2O. The other 2 are set up with it rased up to be held in the top of the battery boxes slightly above the battery level these now have been working for 4 and 6 years.

      I was going to say the same thing about but letting it sit on the bottom of the box.
      I was also going to suggest that a 30 watt panel is much larger than needed as my 20 watt panel can keep my battery topped off on a cloudy day, but I have an open Southern exposure.

    Great sign, I also liked your comment "Of course nothing ever breaks around here." As a long time viewer I can add "As long as no pigs are involved!." Never under estimate the destructive power of a 250 pound pig!

    Love the pizazz to the coop ! I’m glad I helped influenced ya. Yeah I was going to suggest make a cart affix to the coop or dolly for your energizer. Great job as always. We need a tour of Kelly’s (aka troys better half ) garden . Todd

    I am in the process of a very similar build. I was putting my battery on a rolling cart. The solar panel is a great idea to add. Thanks for the ideas!

    You don't mention it in the video, but once you can get a clear line to the South, for the best capture of solar energy tilt the panel to the same degree as the latitude that you're at.

    Mmm, what a lovely Coope deville. Adding a supercharger won't add speed, though. later...(edit) I had to watch this one in a couple of sittings, so part 2 was quite a surprise. Nicely done, you rascal!!

    Consider finding a way to attach the solar panel and charger setup to the coop. Then you can move it as a single unit. Maybe on the tongue of the trailer? Also, love the name. Although I fee like you should have put some big rocket fins on it so they could be just like Elvis, lol.

    Raiding the pump for the water proof electric box is a good tip. I have a few halogen work lights I'm going to replace when the bulbs burn out yet again that have boxes and a few other bits...

    • @vonries
      @vonries 3 роки тому

      Often you can replace the bulbs in the lights. Some you can't(without rebuilding the whole thing).

    • @rochrich1223
      @rochrich1223 3 роки тому

      I know, in fact I think I have a couple spares. It's just that LED work have gotten to be so much better, the halogen work lights I have have become obsolete.

    • @vonries
      @vonries 3 роки тому

      @@rochrich1223 I don't know how handy you are with electricity, so don't do anything you're not trained for. However if you are they do make LEDs that run on 110 directly. You would obviously need to account for the heat generated.

    Why not build a frame and incorporate all of that electronics and panel into a wheelbarrow-type cart that you can shift and move, and load into your truck when you move locations?

    I'll have to try the Patriot energizer. I've had a fair number of solar Gallagher fence chargers, but they were all crap and only lasted a few weeks or months at best. PS...........thanks for the great videos !

    What is the battery box you are using? I can't seem to find one that has that extra space for a controller and switch like that. Like the adjustable divider in the box also.

    • @ralphmills7322
      @ralphmills7322 3 роки тому

      No you want the coop in the middle with the fence surrounding the coop. The electrical works are better off outside the fence for service and to turn power on/off without jumping a live fence. If you attach the works on the coop at least a few hens will decide to roost on it and crap all over it.

  • @mrmerhtin3625

    is it possible for you to mount all of this to the coop? (somehow a remote switch to turn it off) it will make it easier to move around plus you could mount the panel to a pole on the coop as well.
